Got a local tourney coming up, and I have a few questions about what I want to run.
But first, here are the restrictions:
No LoW over 400pts.
You can have Two Detachments.
Forgeworld is allowed.
After a little tweaking, this is where I am at now-
HQ-Hige Tyrant: Wings, 2x Devourers, E. grubs
TP- Rippers(3): Deep Strike
TP- Rippers(3): Deep Strike
TP- Mucolid
TP- Mucolid
ET- Malanthrope
FORT- Bastion: Comms
HS- Carnifex: 2x Devourers, Spinebanks
HS- Carnifex: 2x Devourers, Spinebanks
* HS*- Tyrannocyte
* HS*- Tyrannocyte
I kept the Malanthrope, because he's more likely to survive the Bastion collapsing, and if I need to start my Fexes on the table he can roll up the board with them, providing synapse and cover.
I dropped the Biovores for Rippers. I didn't have enough for a third deep striking ripper swarm, so I kept the two Mucolids and used the leftovers to throw Spinebanks on the fexes on the off chance they need to strike before a powerfist.
Alternatively I could drop the Mucolids and Spinebanks for several options- Adrenal Glands on the fexes for fleet if they walk, and a Str 10 on the charge. Or anything else that can be done with 40 pts. Any thoughts? Is keeping the Malanthrope for an edge case(walking the fexes) worth it, or what would be a better use of points?

I'd prefer to only run one Flyrant, but that is a decent option. Of course then would it be better to drop the other pod and Biovores and run a brood of 2 Devilfexes? Could drop the Comms also since I would not have any need for reserve manipulation.

At low point totals MCs rule. I would look at swapping a Dakkafex for a Tyrannofex, but that is a style thing...

I find Carnifexes also supply an ability to deal with AV 13+ well, Tyrannofexes lack that aspect.
My 1000:
HQ:
Dakka Flyrant 240

Troops:
Spore 15
3 Rippers (DS) 45

I like Deraiderspam's list. A+. 1000 pts is a rough level of points for people to handle 2 flyrants, let alone 2 more Dakkafexes landing safely virtually anywhere.

I'd have used the spare points to fit Venom Cannons on a Tyrannocyte. Five S6 Blast markers can devastate a lot of armies and if you position the drop, deploy the Carnifex 6" the opposite direction towards enemy Squad B, the Tyrannocyte might (if the enemy deploys a certain way) be closer to enemy Squad A, fire at that and no risk of bad Scatter.
But, admittedly, I like Scatter weapons because I can roll just SO many 1s... I'm really good at THAT part of the game so it skews my view.
All if you want to stick to one Flyrant, which I also do at ~1000pt games.

It's a good list, but I'd rather not run 2 flyers, much less 2 Flyrants.
@Sharkoutofwata
To fit Venom cannons in I would have to drop either a Biovore or the Comms, if not the whole Bastion if it's irrelevant. Do you think 5 blasts is worth trading for?

Honestly? Yes, I do. But as I said before, I have a ridiculous tendency to roll 1s so I hit more with that than with standard BS weapons and understand that not everyone has my certain type of dice rolling retardation.
But trading a single Biovore for the two T6 creatures to get a total of 10 S6 blasts seems like a VERY good deal to me. I wouldn't get rid of the Bastion for it though. Reserve rolls are even more important with that change.

nidzilla has never been in a stronger spot than now..
that said I respect you for not running more than 1 flyrant, flying things in general are hard to deal with at low points for most armies. keeps the game fun.
You could easily have opted to run 3 flyrants and 3x1 mucoliod spores and a dakkafex in a pod for 1k points, but that's kind of not fun.
I think armor could give your list problems, the only way you have to tackle AV13+ reliably is assault. This is a general problem for nids however, not much to do about it.
I think the biovores are not really necessary, yes they are good but they are good at taking out infantry and light armor artillery you can't see. The light army artillery isn't really going to shoot at anything else in your list. Wyverns, basilisks, whatever, your only going to have the bastion on the table turn 1 with the biovores up top? and the malanthrope inside.
So the only target you have really is the bastion, and maybe your flyrant. So your opponent will either shoot the bastion or do nothing. Which could result in the biovores malanthrope dying anyways- if malanthrope cover is worded same as venomthrope it wont help the bastion.
The bastion does give reserves rolls which is important.
honestly I would consider ditching the biovores and replacing the malanthrope with a single venomthrope in the bastion. You really only need the bastion for cover for the tyrant first turn and the reserves roll, and the biovores aren't adding much to your list- they are great but you have so few threats to fire at they aren't really needed to take something out to protect your models, and what they could take out your other units can already do.
I agree with a lot of your army model and pointswise being tied to reserves you want to be able to have the best chance to bring them in you can get. -need the comms, whether thats on a bastion, adl, or if your tourney allows battlefield debris just a 20pt comms relay on the ground is a different matter.
I would consider some DS rippers with OS just for objectives.

I appreciate the feedback guys! I'm going over it in my head, and deciding how I want to approach it.
I've never really been a fan of the Mucolid minimum troops, so I'll probably switch those out for Rippers.
As for the Venom cannons I'll consider those too- a lot may depend on how they rule they work. If they're treated as hull-mounted I'll probably switch to the VCs as one or two Deathspitters aren't a whole lot to be feared, especially at BS2. And if they're not hull-mounted, it takes a while to resolve five blasts versus just rolling 15 shots. I'm also slightly worried about time. Usually I like minimal upgrades on them as well, since they're already 75pts. I'll have to drop by the shop and ask about- it's at least an hour from my home, so I'm not always up to date on what the consensus is.
