As the title states, what's the weirdest stuff you used as part of a miniature?

Mine is my fairly recent use of my cat's claw tip clippings to create claws for some of my Flayed Ones conversions-

I use alot of random wierd junk in my terrain building. Hills made from foam salvaged from old furniture, power stations made from Hot Wheels launchers, I'm currently working on sci-fi shipping crates made from old Micro Machine travel city playsets, etc, etc. On the more weird end of things I've used medical supplies (unused of course) in a number of places.

the tops of the exhausts and the grey exhaust tubes on the front exhaust are parts of IV lines.

The steel board-up windows are made from plastic specimen cases usually used for the chemical treatment and wax imbedding of medical specimens before they are sliced onto microscope slides and viewed by Pathologists.

If anyone likes these, I've got a stock and we can work something out...

Man, those looks great!

I recently came into possession of a fairly excessive amount of terrain though, so I probably won't be trying it out myself...

I’ve got a piar of old grav attack tanks kicking around somewhere. I still use that brand of deodorant (although the shape of the modern case is less tank-like)

I found some old metal hair curlers at my grandma's house which were great for Ork cannons, and machine guns.
Spoiler:

I also use sheets of dried lasagna quite a lot for tiles and armour plating. It's very similar to sheet plastic, but much cheaper, and easier to cut and break into bits. Really handy for paved scenery. Once it's varnished it's as good as anything. You could probably do some really cool stuff with it, by wetting it in very salty water and bending it, but I haven't tried that.

Oh god what did he post. (Actually I don't want to know.)

Anyways, I've used the nozzle to a CPAP machine for a turret base. Also when your tape measures finally break, they make great turret bases/bunker parts as well. Oh, broken watch gears and gears from my family member's factory job work great for everything. (I am taking a picture of them atm)

Edit: Man those specimen cases are awesome!

I've used all sorts of odds and sods over the years, especially for my ork conversions.

My Necron Destroyer Lord (Lady..), from the 3rd ed codex, had semiprecious stones and real gold foil bling.

I also used the detonator mounting plate from a WW2 bomb (or at leas that's what my Grandad claimed it to be) as the basis for a Necromunda generator i built ages ago...

I also used a horseshoe, several printer cartridges and part of a crochet machine to build a teleporter pad

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

That's easily going to fit this model of a dakkajet I built.

The entire jet is scratch built from an infant formula bottle, the engines are shotgun shells, super glue caps and the turbines are the caps from squeezable apple sauce packs. The rest is just cardboard and foam board.

Mine is a bit of my own pee for trying to scratch of some paint. Sure, it's not a bit, but it's both weird and obviously disgusting. For bit, perhaps one of my friend's fake plastic anchors that I into a Necron Flyer.

Excellent work and thanks for the in progress pic. I thought I recognize the squeezy pouch caps. They are one of my favorite bits and appear all over my urban terrain. There's also a nice version that is slightly segmented into 4 parts. It doesn't look as useful in person, but on terrain it adds a nice bit of flair to an otherwise flat bit. I use both.

Not much to note in this pic. Most of the bits are Hirst Arts pieces. However the closest air vent is more IV parts and the roof sections themselves are made from self-adhesive vinyl floor tiles. VCT's are very cheap (about a buck each) and the adhesive means that you can just stick the bits on without glue. Then sprinkle a bit of sand to get the tar-and-gravel look that alot of urban buildings have and prime it.
