So who's had a chance to play the 2nd best board game of 2015(After KD:M of course)?
Fast and fun gameplay with your favorite rasslin' stars, who could resist?
Also-
Mr.Church13 wrote: Sinful Hero wrote:So when will WWE Superstar Showdown be available? Still third quarter of 2015? Regretting not getting a copy at Gencon.
Meant to tell you the guy at the booth said by the end of 2015 for the base game and there's a Divas expansion and another one at the printers now also aimed at end of 2015.
Who do you want to see next?
Concerning gameplay-
Did anyone else find John Cena to be harder to pilot than other Superstars? All the corner moves makes him seem a lot more technical than somebody like Big Show. He's much harder to win with.

Cena is just a combo king. You've really gotta be two steps ahead of your opponent for him to shine.
I fear Orton and his stun machine may break the game for some though. They really need to tone down stun.
As for next I'm definitely hoping for some NXT goodness.
Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Sami Zayn.
And as for the other thread's divas question. Unfortunately they've gotta get the terrible ego powered Divas out first The Bella Twins, Alicia Fox, ect.. Hopefully they throw in Paige or Becky Lynch though. Honestly you'd probably love either of those last two.

Tbh the only divas I remember are Sable and Chyna. It's been a lot time since I watched it.
I'm still on the fence about stun. You can either block the stun attack(if you have a block), or whichever card they stun with. I know there were more than a few times I had a stun out with only blocks and damageless maneuvers in my hand. I think their main purpose is baiting out blocks for stronger attacks later.
Still wish you could reverse into a block or a tie though. Having it only be into a winning card feels too restrictive, but I guess avoids the situation of a tie, then a reversal, then reversing that reversal, thus adding an extra 10 minutes to the game. I know we did that more than once when we were learning the game.

Slams are pretty devastating but you do only get three in the deck to mitigate that.
Stun on the other hand can, as we've seen, can decimate whole decks in a single turn which I'm not a huge fan of.

If they've got big attacks in their hand, that means they aren't blocking and are completely relying on out damaging you this turn. Either block or reversal(and dumb luck) can screw over the "all-in" strategies.

All I'm saying is that I'm not a big fan of the Orton style that has so many stuns he can easily bait all six block immediately and then every attack after that contains stun.

To be honest, not a whole lot. You can start predicting your opponent after a while- if they're far away they'll use a maneuver to get close so use a grapple card etc. you have a block mechanic, and if you win 2 or more cards in a round you can go for a pin. But the very basic premise is Rock, Paper, Scissors.
Each deck has a certain number of R, P, and S, such as 9 Strikes, 7 Grapples, and 5 Maneuvers. So looking a the stat card you can see that So and so is a tough matchup for Big Show and so on. Slams are limited to 3 per deck, and beat all other cards. Each deck has 6 Blocks to prevent damage(even from Slams). Each player places their pawn on the grid, and a big part of the game is positioning on the board. Each player lays down 3 cards, then both reveal their first card. Whoever wins resolves their card, and repeat to the last one. If both of the wrestlers are next to each other you can go for a pin, which they have to use either a Block or a card with Kickout to avoid an instant loss.
All-in-all it's a very fun game, and a good time killer. There's some strategy to it believe it or not, but you can still be screwed over by bad hands.

Don't forget running the ropes is an option so a maneuver isn't always required to get close. Plus there's some surprises in the R-P-S such as reversals and laying the good ol block trap.
And there's the detrimental effects of being outside the ring.

It is. Most cards have 3 abilities- Maneuvers generally always have movement. Then there's damage, stun, setup(+1 to damage or movement on your next winning card), reversal, Kickout, Throw(move your opponent 3 spaces), and Corner(if you're in a corner space move 3 and deal 3 damage).
If you don't win you don't move. Some Slams do have movement though, so unless they have a slam too you can do whatever you want pretty much.

Depends on the Superstar too. People like Dainel Bryan move on most of their strikes but not grapples and people like Big E can move a little with grapples but not so much strikes. While they all tend to have maneuvers some have more and better than others depending on their styles.

The original plan was supposed to be classifc superstars, like Ultimate Warrior, young Rick Flair, and Hulk Hogan Redacted. The demoer mentioned that they sort of dodged a bullet on that one. Side note: Haven't had a chance to play this game outside of the demo I got, but I'm psyched. Debating if I want to paint the figs or not.

I will be buying this after watching a few play through on twitch and youtube.
Still love Rasslin but the current state of it sucks and most of the wrestlers in this box I do not care for. Hope we get a Legends pack from the 80s and 90s/attitude era.
I was told the first expansion was planned to be andre the giant and Hulk Hogan, not sure if that is the case now, brother.
Lot of people were hyping about this on twitter and facebook calling it the unexpected best game at gencon.

I think we'll get one pack with some 80's guys but I hope they'll focus on a more modern era like Attitude onwards.
Otherwise most decks would just be clotheslines and scoop slams. I'll give you that personalities were bigger back then but the actual matches were rather dull comparatively.

Disassociating with Hogan was both moronic and absurdly hypocritical for an organization that has previously had the CEO say "[ see forum posting rules]" on air in an attempt to be cool.
And that's if you ignore the blackface sketch, Papa Shango, and all the other thinly veiled racist caricatures it's portrayed in the past.

Not sure how they are going to have the release schedule but would love to see them do a release pack of 6 or 8 wrestlers.... errrm "super stars" 3/4 heels 3/4 faces/tweeners
Golden era
Heels - Iron Sheik, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Jake the Snake, Honky Tonk Man (with his guitar)
Faces - Sargent Slaughter, Ultimate Warrior, Macho Man, Bret the Hit man Hart
Attitude
This was an era of so many "tweeners" and grey areas don't think it is worth splitting up heel and face
Stonecold, HBK, HHH, Rock, Mankind/Mick Foley, Chris Jericho, Undertaker, Kane
Then there could be tag team packs and stables
LoD, Demolition, 3D, 4 horsemen, New Age outlaws, NWO/outsiders, etc
