Are you ready for allies Brother?

The tank at least looks interesting and has some decent sounding rules. I could see the 3rd party market doing a much better job at the Centurion chassis compared to this.

Needs more Centurion

While that is a valiant attempt, marines of the 666th founding Chapters like the Emperor's Nesting Dolls need more. Dreadknight plus centurion plus tactical seems about right. Venerable versions strap on terminator armor and scout armor as well just in case.

Cheers Frankie Joe! Pics of the sprues would make you legendary. Those models look quite good. I see loads of bits that make me happy!

Power Armour-sized Storm Shields and Thunder Hammers in plastics would make converting a Marshal much easier - which is obviously compensated by the fact that we don't know anything about the rules yet.

Much better. Would love to see the sprue (though that's probably hoping for too much at this point...)

Now those look better. The lc poses seem a bit awkward mind you; GW seems to have a problem positioning them.

See some great helmets (beakie with a targeter...been waiting forever for that) and weapons in that kit. As much as I don't like the Centurions...that is equivalent t how much I like the Vanguard Vets.

Now to see the Stern, Tacs, and plastic HQ kits. Dare to dream.

I'm sure you can bodge it by scraping off the symbols and mixing and matching. I see at least 3 pairs of LCs in those pics.

True.. but I was only listing the "40K approved" version. I fully expect to see yours in the next FW apoc expansion book.

You know, if the rest of this release is on par with these, this might not be a bad release after all. Hell, no one is pointing a gun at your head forcing you to buy the centellytubbies- wait, forget I just said that, don't want to give GW any ideas...

Hey, vanguards! A store near me accidentally put this box out for sale a month early, and they are glorious models. The box comes with four pairs of fancy-looking chainswords and bolt pistols along with all the hammers and claws and such, so it also functions as a better looking assault squad box. Slightly more expensive, granted, but I feel like it's definitely worth it.

First post by a new user is a leak photo no one else has seen? Perhaps GW does follow the forum chatter after all and are doing a bit of PR damage control.

I already assembled them, so I can't really provide you with proper pictures of the sprues, but I can show you my assembled marines along with what's left of them, if that's of anybody's interest..

I promise that the lightning claw dudester looks cooler when looked at from above.

The sprue pics are sort of crap, but whachugonndo.

I was thinking the same thing, but I've got so many spare bits from the Ravenwing Knights (for cool bolt pistols and so on) that I think I'll be set!

My first thought too, sigh.

Still like the kit though.

Makes me happy as previous rumors said the Sternguard were the best of the two kits. And I like this VanVet kit. Quite a bit.

The kit only comes with five sets of arms, with all the weapons only being attached to a hand. Not counting the lightning claws, of course.

Looks like he should have some sort of special "flying headbutt" rule. Anyway, I like the posing of these, and the level of extra detail is just right.

Also, liking the bionic beaky head and the sabre-style power sword.

I don't suppose your LGS accidentally put any Sternguard out as well...?

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

While they look nice, a bit miffed at the lack of bits, especially at that price...
I'll agree, they hit the mark with the amount of detail on these, enough to signify their veneration while still leaving space for freehand/modeling on details.

Remember its for vanilla marines, so you really can't expect it to be like the DC/SW boxes and come with a ton of extra bits for your other stuff. And you're still getting 4 each of PA SS and TH...

If nothing else, I am happy that they figured out the whole "swap at the hands" bit instead of making me cut of the handles of weapons and then try to glue them on the fists.
