Piercing the heavens

about a short year or so back, I saw a picture here on dakka. it was a so called "dakkalith", an ork battlefortress build from a necron monolith. personally, I totally dug the idea and put it on my to do list, if I would ever have 50 bucks lying around somewhere...
I also send the picture of this fortress to my brother, since whe're sending each other pictures from cool models we found on the web all the time. and he was so impressed by that Dakkalith I found, that he got me a monotlith for christmas.
well, and then it was lying around in some drawer of mine for a few months. I always wanted a second battlewagon, but right now I've already got about 5 or 6 HS choices and not enought boyz to back  them up. but, then, a little birld told me about a little something called apocalypse and that I will be able to use a lot of tanks in that type of game. so, that was the main reason which got me going again.
but, I have to admit, it wasn't all my work. I have to thank my chief mechanik on the job:
Skrew Looze, the Big Mek of the Red Rokk Raidaz Klan

but enough chatter about the people, you wanna hear about the machine.
it started as a simple monolith. but after the glue was dry I took out the knives . well not exactly that way. but I did build it up from a normal monoltith frame which I glued another tank onto as front compartment.

here's a close up of the driver. seems like he's a little distractet

one picture from the side

now, you're probably wondering where I got those tank parts from....but I thin I'll let you guess a little longer

now, here are pictures with crew on it. the Red Rokk Raidaz Dakkalith is now the official vehicle of choice for my Warboss, Korrag Bugsmasha

I added several platfoms here and there (I love hot glue) and some other vehicle bits I had lying around.
okay, right now, I'm not exactly in a state you would call finished, but I'm tired and have to go to work tomorrow, and I thought you should see this first. I still need to do a lot of painting. the last few things were added while wathching Brisco County Jr.
I will make better pictures later. still: please tell me what you think. I know, I'm not quite as gifted as Jamsessionein, but it felt good to build an Ork tank again.
Anung out.

I put as many big shootas on it, as possible. but as long as an enemy unit won't be nice enough to form a circle around my tank, I will never be able to fire them all at once

As long as you set it down first, I don't see how they enemy can avoid surrounding it! The bugger's half as big as the table!

Looks fantastic though. If I ever get around to getting my orks on the table, I am going to have to make a battle wagon out of a mini-fridge to compete!

(If anyone complains, I will just open it up and offer them a drink.)

Forget the tank. The mere fact those orcs are badarse enough to loot a monolith tells me I don't want to mess with them.

wohoo, answers!
@ skavenfreak: yes, it's what's left from the SW miniatures droid tank.

the main tracks are from an old ninja turtles armored car toy.

so, I guess with the different battlewagons displayed in IA:Apocalypse, I could write some own rules for this tank. mainly because the normal battlewagon can't even have that many big shootas anymore.

you guys think it would be to extreme to make it a fast vehicle? it got lots of exhaust pipes after all

With my, expert automotive knowledge, its a fact that the more exhaust pipes you have, the faster it goes, like painting it red, giving it go faster stripes and adding fluffy dice.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Yep, I noticed that.

I had seen another 'Dakkalith' elsewhere. But this one has half a Hanomag on it which counts for something.

What scale is it, 1:48? I am thinking of using a Hanomag as a battlewagon. With a dethrolla to replace the front wheels. Its beginning to look like the right size.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It makes perfect Orky fluff sense. It doesn't phase out because the Orks figure they looted it fairz and squarez. It's kinda like the stories of Orks being able to fly open cockpit craft in deep space without imploding because they just don't care that you need oxygen or an atmosphere to survive. Or firing their guns and killing things even though there aren't any bullets left just because that's what the slugga is supposed to do, kill things when I pullz da trigga! WAAAGGHH!!

This thing is just insanity. I love it and I might just have to pirate the idea when I start rebuilding my Orks.

=I= inspired scaremongering by the priesthood to gain larger ofdreings in the collection tin.

If ork tech was entirely resultant of faith they could simply say "orks are da shootiest" (sort of thing they say) and get 24" assault 6 S8 Ap2 attacks with a shoota, or worse.
