we recently started a Mordtheim Campaing at the local store, and after the Ad Mech Gang I used for Necromunda, I wanted something similar creative for my Mordtheim Gang. a friend of mine was going to play undead pirates and I still had that GW Ninaj Ogre lying around and I just couldn't use him in my Pirate themed Ogre army, so I det my mind on Ninjas.

I originally intended to use the rules for Elfen Shadow Gangs, but they're not allowed in our campaign so I stuck with the more obvious: Skaven, which is cool on one hand, because I can have cool stuff like poisende weapons and throwing stars, but has the obvious drawback and my Ogre will never be more than a nice dressed animal.

I need the finish the bases and I alreay have a few more Ninajs to paint on m desk (somewhere benauth that pile of new ork stuff ) butr for now, that's enough. I already wiped the floor with an NPC Darf Elf Gang (well, not exactly wiped the floor, that would mean that it is now cleaner then before. whcih is not the case, since my ogre rushed in head first).

now, I have a nice Mini for a mage, but has anyone any idea what I could use for giant rats?

It's been a long time since I've played Mordheim, so YMMV.

IMHO, I wouldn't bother with giant rats because they can't gain experience, which is really important in a campaign. I would just keep buying 'Verminkin' Ninjas in bands of one, to increase the odds of having one of your henchman promoted in to a Hero. Plus, you can keep using the same ninja models as you have been.

Cool idea BTW.

Nice links... but I think he's trying NOT to use actual rats. I think he's trying to keep the theme.

The problem I think you're going to find is that there really isn't anything "ninja" that will qualify as rats very well.

You could try to use some plasticard, perhaps, and model bases with magical "throwing stars" on them.
Kind of akin to the D&D "Dancing Sword," you can fight them off and whatnot. They just magically dance about. For that matter, you cound use a naginata (Isn't that the sword a Ninja uses? It's been SO ling...).

"Summon Dancing Naginata."

You could try to find Ninja minis for 15 mm games. "Mini-ninja's"

What about something more stealthy, like a black cat? Or pet wolves? Ninjas = hardass loners, hardass loners live alone away from society where they, of course, find and raise orphaned wolves all the time. Everything I need to know I learned from G.I. Joe.

Did a little looking around.
If ound 2 places where they advertise 15mm Ninjas (in case you're interested).
They're not that common! LOL

Biggest problem I had was that nobody who showed pics of their castings had Ninja & nobody with ninja showed images!

Good luck.

Something hit me last night after I signed off.

Ral Partha used to make a line of static-pose ninja. I had 4 or 5 (one blister pack).

These were SUPPOSED to be 25mm minis, but only came to about chest height to 25mm minis of the time (these were lead, that's how far back I'm talking). Compared to the 28/30 mm minis of today, they'd be around waist height by my estimate.

That warband looks really sweet so far. Nice theme.

Either wolves (very ninja), or mini-ninjas like Magikal seems to be suggesting. You could call them trainee ninjas- kids with weapons.

Little deamon-familiar things would also do- liek the oni spirits that certain evil ninja clans supposedly used. Use little daemon or elemental minis- puffs of smoke, little fireballs, etc.

MEGA Minis FTW: $1.00 MEGA Fox

Also: MEGA Ninjas

(MEGA used to have a real website - www.megaminis.com - but has since moved to all eBay sales)

The warband does look great though, nice work pulling those models together.

okay, I have a few more. I did order the goblins, because they were just way too cool not to use them. the two in the middle are some grunts, one is actually an old GW model, of which I have another 5 sitting on my table here. the guy on the left is a legend of the 5 rings miniature if I'm not mistaken, and he will be my eshin sorcerer

they're very nice scuplts too. I've got a few and are nice to paint. The strom knight mounts (http://www.rackham-store.com/boutique_us/liste_produits.cfm?type=200&code_lg=lg_us&num=12)would make great giant rats (as they are giant rats!).

I have, in the past, converted a plastic GW wolf into a giant rat - can't find it right now, it's in the attic somewhere, but if i remember rightly -
change the tail for a plastic skaven tail (easy), scrape away the fur on the legs to make them look more rat-like (easyish), use green stuff to add 2 big front teeth and big rat ears (a bit more tricky but not too hard). Give it a go (every one has a spare wolf somewhere).
The idea I had was to create wolfrats fresh from the Clan Molder vats - surprised GW hasn't come up with this themselves yet!
Will try to find the blighter tomorrow (have to go up there for another reason anyway - old railway set to use in Flames of War) & post a picky.
