Here's more on the demon book, also from Warseer:

Chaos Daemons army book

The book is out in May 2008, meaning that some stuff goes on sale late in April.

Amy special rules:
- Instability is altered somewhat, now there is no special effect of rolling above your basic Leadership, so you just take a modified break test and lose a number of wounds equal to the amount you failed the roll by.
- Supposedly, units within 12" of the army general may take their Daemonic Ward save against any kind of attacks, not just non-magical ones. Units more than 12" away from the general follow the current rules for Daemonic auras.

Lores of Nurgle, Slaanesh and Tzeentch
- different from the ones in the other two chaos books

Daemon Lore of Tzeentch
- Supposedly only 6 spells
#1: Red fire, D6+1 hits, D6+1 Strength, 24" range OR D6 hits, D6 Strength, 18" range (sources do not agree)
#2: Adds d3+1 Power dice to own side's dice pool
#3: Gleam Magic, cast any enemy spell (other than one that creates new models, such as certain Undead spells) as a Bound spell with a power level equal to its basic casting level
#4: 2D6 hits, D6+1 Strength, 30" range
#5: Unknown
#6: One Strength 5 hit per model in unit - creates horrors

Daemon Lore of Slaanesh
#1: Enemy unit must test for Stupidity each turn for the rest of the game

Lords
- Greater daemons are supposedly more modifiable than currently, more resembling how they were in 5th edition.

Changer of Ways, Greater Daemon of Tzeentch
- Level 4 wizard

Keeper of Secrets, Greater Daemon of Slaanesh
- Level 2 wizard, may be upgraded to level 4

Great Unclean One, Greater Daemon of Nurgle
- Level 2 wizard, may be upgraded to level 4

Daemon Prince
- Possible new plastic set

Heroes
- If the Fantasy list matches the 40K lists, then chariots are only available as a mount for Heralds, though this is speculation only
- Supposedly there will be no Undivided Heralds
- It is possible that there will be no "generic" Herald models and that people will be expected to use or convert the special character ones (see below) instead. Or it might be that there will be a plastic Heral set at some point

Herald of Nurgle
- May ride a Palanquin of Nurgle

Herald of Khorne
- May ride a Juggernaut of Khorne

Herald of Slaanesh
- May ride a Steed of Slaanesh

Herald of Tzeentch
- May ride a Disk of Tzeentch

Core
- The Leadership of the Core daemons are supposedly the same as in the Hordes of Chaos book (in the Daemonic Legions list it is higher)

Bloodletters of Khorne
- New plastic models
- Toughness increase

Daemonettes of Slaanesh
- New plastic models

Plaguebearers of Nurgle
- New metal command models, possibly a plastic set at some later date

Horrors of Tzeentch
- New metal command models, possibly a plastic set at some later date
- Different bound spells than in the Hordes of Chaos list

Chaos Furies
- No news

Nurglings
- No news

Special?

Flesh Hounds of Khorne
- May be upgraded to have Magic Resistance 3, Killing Blow or the ability to ignore terrain penalties
- New models?

Screamers of Tzeentch
- Strength and Toughness reduced
- Strength of slashing attacks up to 5, may make slashing attacks to all units they move over, not just one
- Slightly cheaper

Flamers of Tzeentch
- If the Fantasy list resembles the 40K one, these will be a separate unit

Seekers of Slaanesh
- Equivalent to mounted Daemonettes (i.e. the ones on cavalry bases), NOT the daemonettes on Steeds of Slaanesh from the Storm of Chaos list

Rare?

Bloodcrushers of Khorne (Bloodletters riding Juggernauts)
- New metal models
- Improved armour save
- Frenzied (1 base A from rider, 2 from steed, so 5 attacks in total while Frenzied)

Plagueriders of Nurgle (Plaguebearers on Beasts of Nurgle)
- New metal models
- Separate stats for rider and mount, more similar to standard cavalry
- Other rumours say that the models don't have riders
- Beasts have D3+2 poisoned attacks

Fiends of Slaanesh?
- New models?

Daemonic chariots???

Special characters
- There are supposedly twelve of them (unknown if the Horror group is counted as 1 or 3...)
- Note that the special characters are the same in both the 40K and the Fantasy lists, though naturally their stats and exact abilities may differ somewhat.

Fateweaver, Oracle of Tzeentch (Greater Daemon of Tzeentch)
- Model has two heads
- Knows all Tzeentch spells and each head also knows 4 spells from any of the lores (in the rulebook?)
- 40K version has only one(!) wound, but doubtless some special rule to make up for it

Name not known (Greater Daemon of Nurgle)

U'zuhl (Greater Daemon of Chaos Undivided)?
- The guy who ended up in Archaon's sword...

Tallyman Epidemius (Herald of Nurgle)
- Mounted on a Palanquin of Nurgle

The Masque (Herald of Slaanesh)
- Kicked out of Slaanesh's entourage for being able to out-dance his (her? its?) god
- Has a special rule in 40K called the Eternal Dance
- 3 human arms and a big claw arm. Wields a staff with a mask at either end and changes it's personality depending on who it chooses to be.

Skulltaker? (Herald of Khorne)
- Angry, Bloodletter-style model

Name not known (Herald of Tzeentch)

Name not known (Horror command group)
- Gives a boost to the unit they lead

Name not known (Flesh Hound leader)
- Multple heads

Stuff removed from the list
- Exalted Daemons (use as Daemon Prince)
- Pleasureseekers of Slaanesh (use as Fiends or Seekers, possibly counting each model as two, or as Heralds)

- Salvage

Yoor Speeshawl too Gawd!

I hope they did not rid fo Be'Lakor entirely. I also hope they don't nerf the daemonic mounts by having them as solo rare choices and kill change bringers. Rest of it looks OK, not unit pop like a balloon for rolling over ld is great. The new models I am less enthusiastic about, the blood letters are cool but I can imagine the price attached to the plague riders riding the fugly beast of nurgle.

Only now do I realize how much I prefer Pete Haines' "misprints" to Gav Thorpe's "brainfarts." :Abadabadoobaddon

Sorry if I stole your thunder....

this is what the fine gentleman by the name of Harry on 'seer reckons is the 2008 schedule

:
Feb - Harad
March - Vampire Counts
April - Birthday releases
May - Daemons
June - Mordor
July - 5th Edition rulebook
August -Dark Elves
September - 5th Edition Box set
October - Space Marines
November - Mortal Chaos

Seems pretty good to me, although I am surprised at Planetstrike not being in the summer.

This is only a brief list ( well duh! ) and doesn't include stuff like the Warhammer Historical stuff which I believe is supposed to get a samurai/Asian book this year, and obviously there will be new individual models etc. Like metal commands for Plague bearers and Horrors, heralds etc.

I'm.... "surprised" to say the least about the possibility of releasing the rulebook before the box set..... will make it very hard for the stores to push their sales, but I guess this perhaps give them extra time to move the last few sets of BfM ? say perhaps throw in the new rulebook with it ?

When the marine codex comes out I'd be prepared for 5/10 splits etc etc like the last marine releases.

Hmmm...
On WH40k side, it seems that Planetstrike supplement will be... delayed.

It would be wise anyway : the schedule is well loaded as is. The surprise here is a new codex for SM. Not a big surprise sure, since beginning, SM have been the banner bearers of 40k universe, and got new codexes right after 3rd & 4th editions. I can also remember Jervis Johnson (pretty sure it was him) saying that the actual SM codex is considered by the dev' team as a failure.

So it will be redone for the sake of homogeneity with DA & Ba codexes.

Be'Lakor is in one of the new catalogues, I just can't remember if it is the the new paper one or one of the new digital ones (maybe both).

Edit: Be'Lakor is in the collectors section for WFB in the Digital Catalogue which imlies that he/it will be around for awhile.

I've been searching the net re Daemons following a chat with my GW buddy. I found the rumoured contents of the Daemons SPearhead box and and few more recent bits and pieces and posted them here:-

According to rumours on warseer (from a regular and reliable poster) here are the contents that will be making up the Chaos Daemon Spearhead boxed set :-

1 Codex/Armybook
10 Bloodletters
10 Daemonettes
5 Fleshhounds
1 Bloodcrusher
1 Beast of nurgle
1 Fiend of slaanesh
1 Epidemius
1 The Masque
1 Skulltaker
1 Keranak
1 Soulgrinder (only in the 40k one)

Nothing has been confirmed yet so take with a large "pinch of salt".

the last 5 sound interesting. I think we can assume that the soulgrinder is some sort of demonic tank...thingy, but I have no idea what the other stuff might be.
let's just hope the new flesh hounds won't look like beavers again.

Soulgrinder is a modified defiler both kit wise and rules wise. I believe it might be a demon who has escaped its bounds to an extent.
It's a plastic or metal (reports vary) upgrade kit that sits on the defiler legs. has all sorts of demony bits growing out of it-- at least 1 big pincer like arm similar to the new possessed kit. Would appear to have the old mutated hull upgrade as standard and comes with 2 dreadnought cc weapons and a built in "harvester" as standard, and a mawcannon with the "vomit" weapon profile-- I'm assuming template. This can be upgraded to either Tongue of phlegm weapon profile.

1 Epidemius
1 The Masque
1 Skulltaker
1 Keranak
are all special characters, the first 3 being demonic herald special characters ( the fourth being the Tzeentch guys called The Blue Scribes).

Keranak is an upgrade for a unit of fleshounds-- like some of the characters in the ork codex.

so fantasy and 40k, have the same demons and the same demon special characters. puh, I'm glad that their not in the same universe, otherwise that would have been very confusing

well, I gues I'll get myself some demon stuff mor apoc games, but I don't think I'll use it as a "real" army.

How is the schedule going to affect the summer campaign? It's 40k's turn this year. I figured planet strike would be part of it like cities of death was last time. Plus they're changing editions right in the middle of the time when it usually runs.

I wouldn't be too worried about VCs if all the High Elf ASF hype was anything to go by. Back in October everyone was saying that GW had broken the game with ASF.

Still, I might be getting myself a VC army soon too

They have some pictures of the new daemons up on Warseer from Barcelona's Gameday.

Mixed bag the Daemonettes look slightly better than I thought, Bloodcrusher looks good, The Nurgle model looks nice. The Khorne dogs are going back towards the 4th edition, the Khorne hero is the fugly one of the group.

Man, I like whoever that is standing on the pile of skeltons. that is some JohnBlanchehood there. That's not the khorne hero you're talking about, is it Dice Monkey?

And I think all the Nurgle additions are Morleytarded. Terrible- especially the champion in the command group.

The Daemonette plasitc are nice indeed, though. Those might mix nicely (terrifyingly, really) with the Dryad plastics. Possessed forest theme for a WE army, anyone? Mix in the Ultraforge treewoman (ultra-femme) with a claw sutck on and that would be a hell of a theme.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

The new daemonettes look markedly better painted than they did bare. The blood crusher is amazing, and the plaguebearers are a bit of a letdown, but I really don't think they know how to do nugle daemons anymore.

Honestly I thought Harry was going to be some Empire guy, but he's looking pretty damn eevil in that pic ... Cool by me!

Thinking Kr0n wins with the new demons, dig most all of his stuff (not the bloodletter hero though). New old flesh hounds? Works for me, no love for the current sabretooth dogs

Rest of the demons are kinda meh so far.

Warseer has the new Fiends of Slannesh up as well as a painted deilfer thingy. The fiends are a cross between 3rd and 4th edition. So we have 6 legged scorpion seahorses with "bewbies". The Defiler thingy gets a obscenely large Braveheart sword as an option. Khorne daemons appear to be compensating this go round.
