Episode 3 is in the can! It should be available on our website http://www.TheD6Generation.com within the next hour or so.

A lot of folks mentioned that in Episode 1 we REALLY should have covered WHFB along with our analysis of GW vs PP. We thought... ya know what? You're absolutly right! We even invited Jeff from Podhammer on as an expert to help keep us honest.

Have a listen and let us know what you think right here.

And if you've never listend to Podhammer, you are really missing out. Here's the link:

I think the intro is much better. I still don't like the (not quite so blatant) parody warning. I think you should just say something like...

"Welcome to another episode of the D6 generation, tonight we talk about (small list)... but first. RAPID FIRE!!!" Then just go into it. I also have to say that I LOVE how the names/nicknames are mangled in the Rapid Fire section. I really look forward to this portion.

The achievement ding is much better.... but maybe just a bit TOO subdued.

Also, I'm looking for the Squats army you referenced in the show. I can't find them here on Dakka.

Another good one Russ, I love Jeff's show and the discussion between him and the three of you was a blast. Im struggling with the release of Vampire Counts and the new deamon army book with wanting to get back into Fantasy, and that discussion definitely made me want to try 7th edition. (Of course I have to find the money somewhere )

Im glad you changed the sound effect for the achievements, much less distracting. And the intro skit is growing on me, I actually laughed out loud several times during the segment. I understand the need for the disclaimer since it is very different from the rest of the show, once the show gets a little more established you can probably drop the disclaimer.

Still some minor audio issues, not sound level that was much better, just some minor distortion and echo effects on some voices. I would guess that is due to different microphones from person to person. Once everyone upgrades to a shock mounted condenser mic you should get rid of those issues.

Overall another fun episode with plenty of solid content.

Thanks for making another miserable drive to work enjoyable!!!

Just finished listening.

Not too horrible!

Great episode. I have ZERO interest in WHFB and I found the discussion enlightening.

Something is kind of screwy with the sound though. It almost sounds like people are talking away from the mikes. I don't know if that is the issue, but there is a bit of distortion in places.

It was interesting the note about non-GW proxy models. I wonder if Adepticon accepts non-gw models as well. I was under the impression that they tried to enforce strict GW model only events.

In the end statement, you forgot to mention clean clothes. It should go without saying, but so should a shower and deodorant. Just because you took a shower and are wearing deodorant, it doesn't mean you'll smell clean in the odious clothes you have been sweating everyday for the last week in.

I must have missed something. What's the deal with the
achievements? Is this how it sounds on the 360? (I don't
have a console).

Well, haven't played WFB since 3rd ed, but I do still have some of my skaven... but that was a really interesting listen. It seems like GW really do think we should think we are honoured to play any of their games !

Jeff really knew what he was talking about to (not that you guys don't ..)

All in all The D6 Generation just gets better and better...
Looking forward to the battle report inthe next Issue/Episode..

Keep up the good work..

Thanks for the kind words.

The Squats: http://www.dakkadakka.com/core/gallery.jsp?gid=7

The Achievement Sound: Yes Malfred, you win a cookie! That is the EXACT sound you hear when you get an achievement on the X-box 360. I'm playing with the volume on it so it is not quite so intrusive. I agree with Ki that it may have been a bit too quite in places this time.

The Audio: The problem we have with our audio right now is that Criag and I are sharing a mic, and sometimes one or both of us forget to lean in when we talk. The result is very low levels. I try to fix it in editing, but if the levels are too low you get those wierd 'tinny' sounds. Which is why Craig and I sometimes sound distorted. The good news is that we have recently taken the plung on some quality mics and a mixing board, so if we're lucky and everything gets to me in time we should have much better sound in Episode 4.

Thanks again for listening,

Russ

Thanks for the linkage to the squats. Any en masse/whole army pics in there? Or maybe you could talk him into posting the army in the New Army Design section.

AND I got a shoutout. W00t!!!1!one!!!

I agree with Hellfury. "Not too horrible"

Already love Podhammer, and I'm loving the D6 Generation. too. I actually listened to the Parody at the beginning this time to boot.

You guys did a great show and having Jeff on was also awesome.

If you want some criticism: I liked this and the first episode the best, mainly because I don't care too much for boardgames so the second Episode wasn't all that big for me, but I still listened all the way through. The "tinny" sound can come through every so often, but the audio generally isn't all that bad and it's not something that makes me want to turn it off.

Wait, that's not 100% true. The intro/outro to "The Hollywood Minute" makes me cringe a bit, but it's a small price to pay for the rest of the quality podcast.

All in all, you definitely helped me get through the morning back to work, and people out in the Lab I was working in were wondering why I was chuckling so much.

I am loving the podcast more and more each show. I don't even LIKE Games Workshop games and your intelligent discussion with Jeff kept me interested the entire time.

Listen - it's a stupid gag, but Craig's alternate nicknames in the rapidfire segment are hilarious.
(Geek culture callback)
"Susan?"
"Now you're doing it on purpose!"

I'm looking forward to "Hollywood" (I loved the snort Russ made when he identified himself as such to Heff) talking about something else I don't care about (not pie) in the next episode plus Craig's mystery project.

Hi:

Glad to see at least some interest in the upcoming LOTRO segment. I am very excited about this segment too. Because my goal is to hit this from "Why I love it and why it fits into my gaming life right now" kinda angle. I know I had a lot of fear of joining one, Russ scared the crap out of me basically before I joined, and I am excited to share my experiences. What is true about MMO and what is maybe newer experiences in LOTRO than other players might have experienced in WoW.

That's my story.

Hollywood.

the best part of the show was when Raif (spelling ?) got to address Jeff and he opens with "hey Jeff, this is Hollywood"...... i laughed my arse off. i assume he is giving himself an opposite type nickname, kind of like a huge dude named "tiny" or a fat guy named "slim".

i really appreciate the show, keep up the good work!

Good stuff. I agree that it's pretty much improving every time. Liked the discussion on Warhammer, though it occasionally left me itching to contribute.

I need to make sure to play one of you guys today so as to ensure that my name gets dropped again. More people need to know of my (formerly) awesome gaming prowess. And tell Craig to bring his darn 40k or Warhammer models some time if he wants a game of that. I'm so desperate for GW action against someone-decent-other-than-Jamie that I'll fluffify my lists and swear to play any questionable rule however he wants.

If it makes you feel better, I thought the ideal setup for your segment was to give you twenty minutes but to heckle you mercilessly meantime.

Oh! Nice score against Craig on the Gimli thing. Heh.

I finally I had time to listen to the 3rd podcast today, and I really liked it. It was my first podcast, and having stopped playing fantasy its got the gears in my head turning again. Might finish painting my bretonnians! I'm going to download the previous 2 and listen to them while I paint terrain too! Keep it up! Our community needs something like this

LOL, "If you shower, you won't smell sour. If you take a pass you will smell like..."

Is there a way I can download the podcast if I don't have itunes/ipod?

I'm glad you're excited for the next Episode. It is, in fact, due out today. It is SO big we have to split it into to parts (a & b) like with did with Episdoe 1, but rest assured it will be up soon. We're doing final editing now.

Yes, I enjoy the show. Very entertaining. Sorry, I thought episode 4 was due out on 3/28, I didn't realize it was an every two weeks show, I thought it was weekly.

Sadly, we are too old to manage a weekly show.
