Subject: Space Hulk: Deathwing - BETA NOW AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO PRE-ORDERED
Just finished playing a lot of the multiplayer - they have captured the atmosphere perfectly but the AI is utter garbage. Genestealers pour in from a spawn point and head directly in a line to a terminator - even in a very large room. If they can fix the AI then this might bea fun game

Subject: Space Hulk: Deathwing - BETA NOW AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO PRE-ORDERED
And here's the announcement for those who don't like everything in video format:
Greetings Librarians,
Last week's Beta saw tens of thousands of you donning Terminator armour and answering the call to fight Genestealers in the Space Hulk Olethros!
We'd like to thank you once again for having taken the time to post your feedback on our official forum in large numbers, helping us to exterminate a wide range of Heretical bugs.
In order to ensure Space Hulk: Deathwing is in the best state possible for launch, we've taken the decision to delay the launch of the full game to December 14th, 19:00 CET.
While some of you may be disappointed, others have expressed support for allowing time to fix the remaining bugs.
Most of the issues from the Beta have been addressed, including drastic improvement of the loading times, optimisation of the general performances, improvement of certain interface and menu elements, sound-design changes (character voices), and fix of numerous bugs and nearly all occurrences of crashes.
We know you are eagerly waiting to purge Xenos, but we want to ensure all players can enjoy the game optimally on launch by continuing to work on the massive amount of feedback for an extra week.

To be honest there's one reason I'm hesitant to purchase this game, the fear that throughout the game there'll be a barrage of marine catchphrases, endlessly repeated in a droning monotone voice.
Kill a lowly hybrid, " for the emperor!", take an insignificant amount of damage " only in death does duty end!", it's fething painful!

The fact they're there at all is the problem, don't reduce them, re record them to have meaningful dialogue in characterful voices.
Imagine a space wolf game with dialogue like the Gears of War games, instead we get pull his string and hear his catchphrase, one dimensional space weiners.

Just an FYI to those interested, I'm at Chapter 5 and there is a DA ship from the Heresy on the Hulk...

Visually it is amazing, they totally, completely nailed it... The glaring issue is the AI... I wish this was more like a left for dead re-skin, with varying modes of pressure and great intensity... I only did the first 2 missions but the Stealers honestly come out of their spawns and run straight at you, no deviation. End of first mission just stood there in one spot and shot the top of a ladder. 200 stealers later, mission over...
This game has a lot of potential, and the studio deserves a lot of credit, I very much hope that they continue to work the AI before the PS4 version comes out so they can have a good shot at success.
In any case, I have a lot of hope for them in the future, if they did this with a tiny team and budget, I am excited to see what they can do next time!
It's a bit of a hit and miss for me, I've played it for some time now and well.. I like it, but there's also stuff not to like.
Visuals are topnotch and really nail the setting, it really feels like you're stomping through a series of Imperial vessels and a lot of good effort has been put into this, right down to the piles of tech priest corpses and even desiccated servitors hardwired into reactors and walls. For me the real easter eggs are finding things like the Avenger Strike Fighter, Sentinel powerlifters, lasguns scattered around the decks, an arming chamber filled with bolters and the walls decked out with shoulder pads of heroes of the Chapter, visually the game is pleasing, especially to someone who loves and knows the setting.
Foes also look great, but could do with more diversity in terms of models, the hybrids in particular could use more variety in presentation, because the only way to differentiate a Magus from a regular hybrid one is the lack of a gun apparently.
Zergrush AI aside, biggest complaint for me though is the gun play, which is mediocre. Way too much recoil (I thought we were relentless?!) and some weapons just plain feel like they are missing the impact of firing an automatic rocket launcher or six-barrelled assault weapon meant to shred these things to bits. Melee is also a bit wonky, but then again I only use the power fist myself, which when it connects makes for a gorgeous explosion of viscera, entrails and body parts.
While I understand a need for balance and whatnot, having a hybrid with an autogun of all things shred you to bits is also absurd to say the least! Genestealers ripping and tearing through you like wet tissue paper is one thing (it's the norm after all), but autoguns? Bleh I say!
Audio is good, especially when paired with a good set of headphones that have a nice bass going. The terminators have a nice heavy tread to them, the ships creak and groan eerily, weapons make good noise (even if they feel weak or useless). Voice actors are also of the good sort, especially after having toned down the voice lines after the open beta.
So far the story is a bit all over the place, but ehhh, it could've been worse I suppose. The term "hacking" also feels out of place, but I guess they couldn't find a good 40k analogue for that one. Some of the fluff text found throughout when interfacing with the ships is also wonky, but this is done by a French team IIRC, so translation errors will occur.
I like it, I do not regret getting it either and I hope some things will be fixed over time, either by the devs or the community.

You think? Well... I remember a single hybrid with a las-gun killing my captain and the heavy weapon-guy in the board game.

Hopefully they release this on ps4 soon, I don't do PC gaming since my computer took a dump. The game certainly looks decent, hopefully it sells well enough to justify porting it to consoles.

The singleplayer is pretty much trash. I really liked the beginning and then the colonial marine tyranids appeared... babysitting the AI for hours on end is hardly my idea of a fun time, sometimes they just let the nids slash them apart while im delivering holy vengeance on my own, so annoying.
Otherwise the gameplay is ok, some tense moments and varying fun.
It runs great and ive had no problems, but my friend who was going to play with me has the 3 second stutter thing going for him, which is apparently a normal Unreal bugg thats been forever...
Hopefully theres a patch somewhere that will fix some things, until then i think ill wait and hope...

It is so nice aesthetically but mechanically doesn't feel very satisfying. Hopefully ages well cause it's so close.

I had that issue where the game randomly freezes for a few seconds regularly. Found out that the fix is to open the task manager, find the game's process, set affinity, and disable the last cpu core.
Now it runs just fine.

This is one of those games that looks like a triple AAA title, but is made by a smaller studio. I think a lot of people had higher expectations because of it. Not making any excuses for a game with serious optimization issues, but considering the budget it was made on, it's pretty good. I, personally, find it to be a lot of fun.

So a AAAAAAAAA title?
I played the other day and due to the game's bugginess and crappy save system, I actually lost progress, to the point where I was back further than I was when I booted up the game. That's not acceptable.

Biggest mystery so far is my heavy flamer jamming all the while, but my default weapon, the storm bolter, which I use to empty entire bricks into hordes never once fails.
