Well, there's a Flames of War tournament coming up next month that I want to play in, and crazy as it may sound, I think I'm going to try to paint up 600 points worth of Soviets in 15mm. I wanted to experiment with dipping, so I did my first stand as a test to see the results. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. The helmets are a bit too dark, so I think I'll mix in some white to lighten it up on the rest of them. I used Minwax Polyshades Antique Walnut as the dip. I painted these with a mix of Vallejo and
GW paints, with one layer of highlights on the uniform.
So what do you think? I welcome all comments and criticism! Do you think the dip works well for these (especially if I lighten up the helmets on the rest of them)? Do you think I've done an okay job balancing painting speed with something that looks decent?
Consider this a down payment on the rest of the blog. This is to help keep me motivated too, so if you don't see an update in the next week or two, please feel free to give me a good-natured razzing!
Oh and if you're curious, I just stick them on pennies temporarily with blue-
tac so I can pick them up by the penny without touching the mini before I varnish them.
Enjoy!
