Hi,
Tournament going to be held at MG:
It will be held on June 7th (Saturday). Date changed.
30$ prepay/prereg, 40$ during June. This is one teams TOTAL entry fee, so remember that it's 15/20$.
Show up starts at 10am. First game is at 10:30, so show up at 10am and get your lists in.
This will be a team tournament. 2 players per team.
Maximum number of players: 16.
Each team of 2 players will play another team of 2 players.
So it will be 8 teams, 4 games each, on 4 tables.
Each team will play on a table once.
Hopefully this makes sense.
1000 points per player. The armies MUST use a different Codex.
All armies may use any special characters in their codex, period.
Only the following armies may be used:
* Codex: Space Marines
* Codex: Space Wolves
* Codex: Black Templars
* Codex: Dark Angels
* Codex: Blood Angels - White Dwarf Update
* Codex: Imperial Guard
* Codex: Daemonhunters
* Codex: Witch Hunters
* Codex: Eldar
* Codex: Dark Eldar
* Codex: Orks
* Codex: Necrons
* Codex: Tau Empire
* Codex: Tyranids
* Codex: Chaos Space Marines
* Codex: Chaos Daemons
These army lists will be used with the following addendums:
You may NOT take Inquisitorial Allies as allowed for in the books above!
Anything listed as optional, opponent's permission, trial, or forgeworld is NOT allowed.
Terrain: Going to be approximately 50% on 6x4 boards. You are hereby warned.
Army stacking: Abilities that grant you extra dice modifiers, dice rolls, etc can only be used once per phase. So don't bring two DH inquisitors and try to get a +2 to the first turn. You CAN bring two standards from different armies that grant +1A (for example) but they cannot be used in the same turn.
Day summary:
Show up: 10 am.
Game 1: 10:30am-12:30pm.
Lunch aka Judging: 12:30pm-1:15pm.
Game 2: 1:15pm-3:15pm.
Break: 3:15-3:30pm.
Game 3: 3:30-5:30pm.
Dinner aka Judging: 5:30pm-6:15pm.
Game 4: 6:15-8:15pm.
Awards: 8:30pm.
Remember how the awards work at Mind Games: All cash paid in is paid out. I throw in a bit extra out of my pocket.
For this tournament, the awards will be:
Best Overall (must be painted), Best Generals (most BP’s), The Butchers (most VP’s), Best Sportsman, Best Theme.
30/20/20/10/20 are the percentages of prizes given out for the awards, in order.
Best sportsman is determined by a combination of 'army flavor' and 'sportsmanship'. Ties will be broken by fewest VPs. Then by me.
Best Army is determined by a combination of 'army flavor' and 'best painted'. In other words, have a strong themed army that you painted, and you have a good chance to win. Tiebreakers will be judged by me.
Best Painted was replaced by Best Theme for this tournament. If you make your armies work together with a theme, kudos.
All you need (and get) to know about the scenarios and overall structure of the tournament is:
1) We'll be using the new deployment rules for the upcoming 5th edition:
That means you setup your entire army, then your opponent sets up...and you go first. So winning the dice roll for going first means you deploy first. Capiche?
2) Each team will only play any other team once! Your standings will not affect this in any way round-to-round. It is your total team effort that counts!
We will not be using any standard scenarios. There will be 1 scenario favoring assault style armies, 1 favoring shooty armies, and 2 favoring balanced armies.
That's all you need to know.
Oh, and you can reach me here by sending me a PM.
You can pre-register with Matt @

Extra questions asked:
1) FOC chart. Each player must have 1 HQ and 2 Troops.
You may have 0-2 elite, fast attack, and heavy plus 0-2 additional troops per army but in total you may not exceed the standard FOC chart.
2) Yes, both players armies must be completely painted to be eligible for the Overall and Best Theme prizes.

More questions:
1) No, you cannot just show up and pick up a partner and play as a team. You must pre-register! You can always reach me via PM and I can sort out any questions that way.
2) Will I be using the adepticon faq or mkerr's suggestion of no duplicate units in an army list? No, and no.

I keep getting asked FOC questions, so here goes the rundown:
You must have:
1 HQ, 2 troops.
You may also have in either army 0-2 fast, heavy, or elites.
If you use 0, your ally can still only use 2.
If you use 1, your ally can still only use 2.
If you use 2, your ally can only use 0-1 of a given slot.
For troops, you may add 0-2 extra troops to your army:
If you use 0, your ally can still only use 2.
If you use 1, your ally can only use 1.
If you use 2, your ally can use 0.
So your total army would like this:
2 HQ, 4 Troops=required.
0-3 elites, no more than 2 allowed per ally.
0-3 fast, no more than 2 allowed per ally.
0-3 heavy, no more than 2 allowed per ally.
0-2 extra troops, which can be assigned to either ally in any number so long as the combined army comes in at 6 total troops (or less).

Yes, you may use a team mates non-dedicated transports to transport your own units if you so desire.
Dedicated transports cannot be used this way.

The forest
As you’ve noted, before you lies a heavily forested area.
Here are your special rules:
All models with a toughness value receive a 6+ cover save while in the open but are not considered to be in cover for any other purpose (assaulting, tank obscurement).
All forests provide a 4+ cover save.
Scorched Earth: Any flamer template or ordnance weapon (but not blasts!) fired into a terrain piece on this board will set that forest on fire. Remove the trees at the end of the phase. The cover save will be removed at the end of the phase. That does mean you can burn the forest to the ground and assault units within as if they were not in cover. You can fire directly at a forest if you wish to with either type of weapon, but if you cannot legally fire at an enemy unit do not resolve the units firing—just remove the forest as above. Note you must still be in range of said forest to ‘fire’. Please leave the area terrain on the table and JUST remove the trees. Return them when you are finished playing (or starting, as the case may be). Objectives within burned areas are not affected.

The plains
In front of you lies a trench line in an open plain.
Here are your special rules:
The trench does not block line of sight. It does not offer cover, it’s there to force deployments as set out below. It is difficult terrain only for infantry, it does not affect vehicles.
The team that sets up first may deploy anywhere more than 18” away from the trenchline, on either or both sides of the board as they see fit. The team that sets up second sets up in the trench system. You may not deploy off of the trenches!
Scorched Earth: There is very little left on this battlefield to destroy except the enemy. You are in a race against time. On turns 1-3, ALL units that have been destroyed are worth double victory points. On turns 4-6, ALL units that are destroyed are worth half victory points. NO units are worth VP’s to anyone if they are still alive at the end of the game. In short, kill the enemy quickly, for you are all scorched earth…this is a pure VP mission with NO objectives.

The hills
As you’ve noted, before you lies a very hilly board.
Here are your special rules:
Hills are NOT difficult terrain on this board.
Hills provide NO cover save.
Scorched Earth: The objectives must be destroyed to be scored. You may remove a friendly objective by successfully assaulting it (only) with any unit and forfeiting ALL of that units attacks in close combat. If you are still in contact with the objective at the end of the assault phase (i.e. after morale checks and fearless wounds, if any, are taken) it is immediately removed. This is the ONLY way to remove an objective and ‘score’ it. Shooting has no effect. Please note you may not destroy the enemies objectives in your own deployment zone.

The city
As you’ve noted, there is a very large city block in front of you.
Here are your special rules:
All units benefit from re-rolls to difficult terrain tests.
Non-infantry units ONLY: If you already had a re-roll, you automatically pass your difficult terrain test. Walkers and monstrous creatures automatically move normally.
Infantry units ONLY: If you already had a re-roll, you automatically pass your difficult terrain test and may move normally (as if there was no difficult terrain). Scouts and infiltrators automatically move normally.
Scorched Earth: You may attempt to ‘bring down the house’ once per game. Move a friendly scoring infantry unit into any building still standing and immediately declare you are ‘bringing down the house’. The building will collapse and inflict 5+D6 S9 AP3 hits on ALL units within, friend or foe. The unit that brought down the house immediately loses all of its remaining models and is buried in the wreckage for the rest of the game. Treat it as destroyed but it gives no VP’s to the enemy. Please do not remove the building, merely note it has been destroyed. Any objectives within destroyed buildings are also immediately destroyed. Once a building is destroyed, treat it as open ground for all purposes.

The game technically hasn't even started yet. What facing are vehicles hit on during a bring down? Does a bring down effect skimmers hovering over the structure? Technically they are never in the building.

Jayden63 wrote:Can you bring down the house after making a scout move that takes you into a building?
If you can get into one, yes. The intent of the board layout and the scenario rules will be to prevent this.
Jayden63 wrote:The game technically hasn't even started yet.
Mostly because of this. lol
Jayden63 wrote:What facing are vehicles hit on during a bring down?
That's in the scenario rules. Let's just say it's a factor of speed.
Jayden63 wrote:Does a bring down effect skimmers hovering over the structure?
Yes.
Jayden63 wrote:Technically they are never in the building.
Correct. They (and Jetbikes) will nonetheless still be affected.
This will be clear in the scenario when given out on tournament day.
Are you coming?

Here are the mission rules:
Mission goals:
Secure the most objectives: 1
Secure the most table quarters: 2
Destroy more enemy units than you lose: 3
Control any three objective markers: 4
Control both friendly objective markers: 5
Reduce all enemy units to under 50% strength: 6
Roll a D6 to determine your primary, secondary, and tertiary objectives.
You cannot have the same objective twice (or three times). Re-roll if you duplicate.
You MUST assign your first roll to primary, second roll to secondary, and third roll to tertiary objectives.
Roll only when your opponents are paying attention—roll out in the open where they can see what you rolled!
Yes, both teams need to roll and will likely have different sets of objectives.
This is intended.
