Sisters are another army I've always wanted to do.

They seem like they get it all in 5th: tough transports, units that don't care about LD negatives, more chances to shoot assault oriented units, and much tougher exorcists who still move and shoot to full effect.

They seems like every mission is winnable to them, since they are relatively mobile and have very resilient units.

Am I missing anything?

Nope.

I think stjohn is gonna feth people up with his sisters at vegas.

If I had time I'd do sisters, as I think they are currently tied for best army in 40k--next to the dark eldar.

But everybody calls me crazy...

A pure Sisters army IS a joy, even if it costs a grand (and up) to actually run one. Painting one is a serious issue.

Are you thinking mech sisters or foot horde? Both have strengths and weaknesses.

I'd be interested to see a good footslogging list for sisters...not sure how that would work.

Mobility in fully mounted is great when you consider that anti-vehicle firepower is restricted to Exorcists while on foot. Melta's need to be mounted to really be effective. That's my major concern when considering a footslogging list, perhaps a hybrid list would be more sensible if you want a serious footsloggin' contingent as an alternative to fully mounted.

Mounted sisters are indeed not phased at all by these new rules....If only I wasnt so bored with them.

I....sense a disturbance in the force.

Now, we just need JTS to show back up.

My experience with Sisters was with the CA2002 list.

Back when meltaguns and multimeltas were all you could bring to kill tanks (the exorcist was AV11 back then, quite amusing for a MBT).

120 Sisters is a strength all it's own. It really truly is.

would you keep 3 exorcists in a footslogging force or would you opt for retributors for some reason?

My heavy bolter rets owned. In the current game of Exorcists really being marine killers, I'd probably just suck it up and run the less-obvious.

While multimeltas aren't uber, if you need to kill tanks bring a 3 section IG platoon along with 4 lascannons. A canoness nearby will keep them around until their dead.

Rets kill marines until there are no rets left.

Exorcists lose their gun or die, and that's that.

Hate the model too, and everything else people run looks like a whirlwind. Lame. :(

I converted a WW2 German Stug for my 1 Exorcist. I loved how it looked with Sisters all converted up.

Shoulda saved a pic of it before I sold it. Sadly I did not.

So Rets all the way for me. With running, it won't be as difficult to get Celestians into position for Multimelta shots, and regular Sisters with Meltaguns are spiffy too.

Hopefully stjohn will pipe in. We have totally different experiences with the Sisters, I sold my army in disgust after Hoare butchered the list but he got into them after the WH book came out. So ask him. lol

After playing some 5th ed. games with Sisters...I think that they will be massively better than they currently are. A mixed list seems to work best. Always 2 exorcists and retributors. With orks, you are going to need the heavy bolter firepower to knock a few down at range. Celestians are amazing in 5th edition. The Book of St. Lucius makes your units say "whatever" to combat res. Sisters units are the tarpit unit of 5th. HK missiles may be worth placing on a rhino...as crazy as that sounds.

Orks are the best army in 40k.

Nope.

You hit on all of the high points. You just forgot good troops.

Although I will be taking Witch Hunters to the LVGT do to the current meta-game, I will not be using many Sisters.

Orks are not the best army in 40k by quite a margin.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

first rate Troop choices, too.

You take two Excorsists, you are just going to lose the gun on one of them in the first shooting phase, and keep rolling 1s on the other. Take three and you will lay waste to everything all game.

The Exorcist is one of the few main tanks that will not lose any of its firepower when moving.
I see absolutely nothing about 5th that will make me rethink anything about this tank's use - except to promote it more.

Range? Check.
Mobility? Check.
AP1? Check.
Volume of Fire? Variable. Mitigate with more tanks.

Love exorcists too, now with the AP1 bonus its just even better. Also, its cheap so you can have 3. If you bring AV stuff on the table, more is better.

I am looking forward to 5th with my Sisters. If nothing else, the run rule will make Penitents and Repentia easier to stomach. Otherwise, I am just stocking up on a few more Rhinos for them, and maybe one more heavy bolter for the Retributors.

By the by, a foot slogging tactica would be appreciated. I just don't like painting rhinos much :(

Horde sisters do a number on orks head-to-head. I haven't done much with mech sisters, but it's one matchup that I had problems with when playtesting my adepticon orks.

And, my team faced a 200 ork horde in the team tournament when we were playing witchhunters and they never got within 12" of our line. Too many inexpensive bolters with decent backup in heavy bolters.

5th ed, 1500, what about:
canoness w/ inferno pistol, blessed weapon, cloak, book, jump pack
2x 18 sisters, Vet w/ book, 2 meltaguns
2x 18 sisters, Vet w/ book, 2 meltaguns, evicerator
2x 10 retributors, 4x heavy bolter, Vet w/ book

8 Faith, 90 suits of power armour on the field. Sure, it doesn't have ranged anti-tank fire, but with running, who is going to kill enough before the meltaguns get there.

Well mech sisters run up and vaporize a unit.

Horde sisters run up and vaporize a unit.

You can melee down the mech sisters, but not horde sisters.

You can shoot the mech sisters out of their transports and spam them with lots of fire, but against horde sisters every shot you've got is going into an 11 point model..and when there are 20 of them, it gets tedious.

If you think of the horde Nuns with Guns as the best short range firefight troops in the game....coupled with IG stats and CC capability, marine power armor, tyranid synapse, and ork numbers...well, you'll be spot on.

Then add in the Sisters rules and it's a whole 'nother layer of the onion...

Not sure you'd want the jump pack on the cannoness in 5th Redbeard, since she's an independent unit. Without the jump pack, you might as well drop the inferno pistol and find the points to squeeze another cannoness into the army.

2 evicerator armed cannoness with books and cloaks of we won't die make tarpit units even nastier. Oh, and it give you more faith.

Nah a jump pack is still good.

That way when a nasty unit gets close to you, you can jump out 18" and stop them there.

All good points. SOB are a really tough army now...that is until they FAQ things, etc...LOL. The book of St. Lucius is sick as hell now...all for a mere 5pts.

So taking Redbeard's list to 1750 - more retributors, more sisters, another Cannoness, or something else completely? The curious want to know.

Either bring 30 rets with HB, bump rets, or no rets.

So I'd bring a bunch of rets and grab a few smaller (and cheaper) units of celestians with meltaguns for tank popping.

For the last 250 points, I'd go for utility. Maybe an Inq lord, w/ hood, shooty retinue (possibly allied Daemonhunter w/ 2 mystics, to hang out near the rets), and eversor assassin...

I think sisters will ROCK in 5th. I think they were pretty damn good in 4th (but not top tier) and the new rules pretty much help them in every way.

The exorcist gets a lot tougher and AP 1 missles mean they can kill AV 14, flamer templates are all resolved at the same time so hit more units, no consolidation, no entangle. They are great!

However, I think Mech is THE way to go. While I see what everyone is saying about the 120 model horde, too many armies can get the charge off on you too quickly. You don't dictate the game at all walking.

Tank shock into a nice group and hit with 2 or 3 flamers and it's good night.

Now I just have to figure out how to stip off all of the red primer from my sisters!

Pine Sol works as well as Easy Off Oven Cleaner.

Be careful w/ Pine Sol as it can ruin the plastic bases if let on too long.
