Ok, so here's my first shot at a Daemon list, I ended up at 1499pts.

So I know the Masque doesnt necessarily fit the Nurgle/Khorne theme I sorta have going, but with 3 shots of Pavane a turn, how could you not toss her in?
Anyways, I see a lot of views, but not much in the way of feedback.....
is my list just so awe inspiring?? lol
Id love you hear something, there's a pile of money that's hinging on this post! Either that, or I cut my 20 bucks for the new codex as a loss, and go onto something else.....

Here are two I posted:

Khorne List
Tzeentch/Slaanesh List

Both are superior to the stuff most people have posted so far (in my view anyway). You have alot of troops, which isn't where the demons strength is.

Yes the troops kill marines but against everything else they are overmatched (except Nids and Eldar, who own their face) and you don't really need more than 5 to eff up a marine squad.

So, no scorn. You are all over the place. You have 2 shooty units, 2 tarpits, 1 CC unit, and 3 CC monsters. What are you doing again?

Battleforces get you a start of an army, not an army itself. Figure out which Chaos faction you like, and make an army outta them. Give them a little support, and move right along to either a shooty army or a CC army.

Nothing wrong with a tarpit army really, but you will have a hard time killing anything or winning any games...

You Horrors NEED Bolt of Tzeentch. The Daemon Army is so short on ranged anti-tank that ordnance platforms and skimmers will eat you alive if you don't fit some in there. Along the same lines find the points to give the Grinder phlegm or tongue. He needs to be able to gun for things the rest of your army has issues with. I'll say that I'm not a huge fan of The Masque. She seems cool at first, but with T3 and no IC you're only going to get one turn of Pavanes off 99% of the time before she bites it to small arms fire. In my opinion, you're better off putting the points towards a Slaaneshi DP or herald on chariot if you want Pavane. You're also fairly slow once down (prince excepted). You might consider fitting in some Fiends, Seekers, Flesh Hounds. Maybe drop the Bloodcrusher and a few Plaguebearers to get the points. Also, that prince is 190 pts. Are you sure you don't want another Soulgrinder with some tasty shooting?

Ok, so the figures I used are mostly what Ive got, though Im not totally opposed to adding to the pile.

Id like to use Khorne's units because most of the new figures are pretty sweet looking.
Fiends of Slaanesh are growing on me (plus 5 rending attacks cant be bad at all).
I already have 14 plague bearers from my death guard army, so that's a good start.

So, am I limited to one god to make an effective force or can I mix and match a bit, though maybe not as much as I did initially, to get something that works well?
I did pick up the masque and 10 bloodletters, though Im sure she can be effective, with 3 pavanes a turn she has to be right? She can avoid getting shot if placed well, I think.

Also, Id be interested to hear any opinion about doing a 750pt. daemon list.
Khorne/Nurgle based maybe led by the Masque and/or Skulltaker.

The masque is really horrible in 40k. She will die to anything out there even Tau CC.

So other than saying "the masque sucks, she'll die", you could be more constructive. I dont really see her losing combat against Tau though, nothing loses to Tau in hand to hand, lol. Four I7 attacks then are S3 will still kill enough Tau to keep her out of reprisal range, plus she has Hit&Run, and if that isnt enough, she really shouldnt be in hand to hand anyways, and like the Tau, if she ends up there, you probably did something wrong. She should be using her pavane and not a whole lot else Id think.

Well, reprisal range is gone in 5th ed so even if she kills 3 guys she will get hit back(esp when all units counter charge her and will attack with all models). The problem is that she will never survive that long with T3 and not beeing able to join units she will absorb any hits. I cant say very much more but that sucks and will result in a dead model for you.

If your plan is to keep her out of combat but in pavane range she will get into rapid fire range.
