So after much thinking about it, I've come to the realization that the Ork Trukk doesn't fit my army very well. It just doesn't look right.

Since I have a ton of Ork stuff from the five Black Reach boxes I picked up, I figure I might as well stick all of that stuff into a box and deal with it at a later date.

So that means I need to revamp my Liz-Orks.

Which doesn't seem too difficult, really.

It's all about shooting with Orks if ya ask me, and I like how this army flows.

=================================

1750 Pts - Shooty Liz-Orks

1 Big Mek @ 40 Pts; Bosspole; Mek's Tools

16 Gretchin @ 58 Pts
1 Runtherd @ [10] Pts; Squig Hound

These go together (Big Mek and Grots do).

3 x 15 Lootas @ 225 Pts; Defffguns

These hide behind the Grots.

2x 29 Boyz @ 235 Pts; Big Shoota (x3); Shoota;
1 Boyz Nob @ [46] Pts; Power Klaw; Bosspole

My objective grabbers.

3 x 3 Warbuggies @ 90 Pts; Twin Linked Big Shoota

Man I just love these. lol

3 x 3 Kannon Battery @ 79 Pts;
Kannon (x3); Additional Gun Krew (3 Gretchin @ [9] Pts)
"Free" Gun Krew 6 Gretchin @ [0] Pts
1 Runtherd @ [10] Pts, Squig Hound

I'm not sure if I like these or Lobbas better. I will have to test both, but I think the Kannons get the edge for their slightly better anti-tank capability.

Total Roster Cost: 1750

With the derth of LOS blocking terrain, kannons are better. As people start building more cliffs/solid walls, the lobbas may become better.

Love it...

I have a couple wacky suggestions...

Where is that big mek going?

If he ends up going into a boys mob instead of the lootas, then here is my idea

find 50 points, buy a KFF... and drag one of the buggies within 6" of the shootas. There are a couple negatives to this idea... One is that you need to make at least two 4+s on the buggies before you see ROI on that KFF. Skimming 50 points out of front loaded shooting isn't good at all against an army that isn't shooting back. The other is that the buggies will now feel obligated to 'be' certain places on the table.

My hunch is, that you might start making those saves, if you could wiggle a little more and get 3 more buggies in (maybe dropping the kannons, with 45 lootas are non AR14 vehicles a problem?) At this point, making two or more cover saves on buggies is a guarantee. Which in most games would = more shooting. That 4" coherency is a god-send too. Lots of good cover saves for people behind them and easy to reach both the KFF range and an objective.

Just a thought. A little tweak to try on an already scary shooty list.

He's going with the Grots, so he can punch one in the head instead of the Runtherd and make them stay.

He won't be, but for the sake of discussion let's see what ya got.

Well the way I plan on playing the army is like this:

Lootas + Grots find a nice corner and sit in it. Grots in cover, Lootas behind to get cover.

Boyz sit on the flanks to deny cover.

Buggies sit wherever at least 2 of the 3 in the squadron can get a cover save from enemy fire. The other buggies sit behind them.

By the way, I have 3x3buggies, sorry that wasn't clear. I will edit the post to make it so.

It's even scarier than you thought! lol

I fixed the Kannon entry as well, there are 3x3 Kannons in the list, might not have been clear about that.

This is a testament to how early it is over here... I figured that was 9 kannons, but not even noticing that you were light 200 points is kind of insane on my part.

I think you might have had a hard time finding cover for 2 out of 3 buggies while still getting good shots in Vegas. So much terrain with such a small footprint.

My new "ork rule" I'm trying to live by after the tourney, is to always have a 4+ save for anything that isn't a grot or a FNP unit. a 50 point KFF might make it easier for you to do that if the table you are about to play on is a mystery

Stelek,

Got to love the idea behind 45 Looters! Its going to be a challenge for anyone to charge through that!

Nice army.

Too bad one landraider crusader and 2 whirlwinds could probably wipe you, the whirlwind taking out your artillery, and then the crusader grinding all the looters and buggies under its tracks. The boys, I don't know, avoid em????

I gotta worry about the sanity of someone who buys 5 copies of black reach. You really need that many rule books? templates? That many of the same not so very great models?????? Granted you saved plenty of money on like dreadnaughts (alone), I guess you have in mind some trading of all that merchantise! Which is actually a GOOD IDEA!

Do send in some battle reports and let us know how the army fairs!

Yeah whirlwinds and land raiders are tough on Orks. Nothing you can do but suck it up really against LR. It's a critical weakness of the Orks.

Nope not swapping it, I don't trade.

I am out of sanity.

Actually I "lose" templates/dice to people like you wouldn't believe. Besides, I like having the templates and scatter dice I need IN my army box. lol

The rulebooks are mostly gone, everyone I know has grabbed one.

I will. I hope it's entertaining.
