Game 3 vs Eldar.

He had:

Eldrad.
Farseer w/guide+doom.
7 Wraithguard.
2x3 Jetbikes.
3x10 Pathfinders.
5xDark reapers, exarch w/fast shot + EML.
8 harlies.
10 scorpions.
2 Wraithlords.

And let the raping begin. lol

Note that it's like turn 4 and all my LRC (with my troops) are in the LEFT half of the board and I didn't note the other objective (his) was in his far corner away from me. Epic fail there! Note that Eldrad has been tank shocked several times (and takes another one this turn) but doesn't go anywhere.

I drive through and light up the backfield. Note that Eldrad is still chasing my tanks. Only 2 attacks but he hits once EVERY time he charges...needing a .

Enemy effectively tabled, both objectives secured.

That is freaking awesome. If I was the Eldar player, I wouldn't even care that I got tabled. That is some rediculously funny stuff.
I assume you got first since all three of your reports have you tabling the guy, except the minor victory in the first one (which I guess defeats the purpose of saying 'all your reports'...).
I don't want to pry, but what did you get as a prize?

I have thoroughly enjoyed your battle reports. I really liked this army concept when I read it awhile back. It's nice to see it in action.

First, just want to echo that I like the reports.

As to Land Raider pendulum swing, I wouldn't count on it. It works in a large point format with screwy kill points, like 'Ard Boyz. In a lower point game Land Raiders, while great, come at a "greater" cost in terms of overall points. I think their current strength actually merits their points, unlike in 4th when they could be destroyed on a lucky glance.

Everyone knows I'm not the biggest fan of Stelek...but that Ard Boyz Army is simply hilarious.


I took second using Stealer Shock nids (reports to come tomorrow) at South Bend - the winner was a 4-Crusader Black Templar army.

Seriously, you look at your list, you look at your opponent's lists, and you can tell the outcome of the game right there - maybe not in the first game but definitely in the second and third. I see what you mean by an IWIN button.

As a side note, did you see any daemon armies where you played, or have you scared them all off?

@ Emperors, yes I got 60 battle points (13, 23, and 24). I messed up my first game by getting out of the raider and being afraid of Wraithguard when I shouldn't have been.

I played well, but not aggressive enough.

@ WC_Brian. Thanks, I'm trying to follow the KISS principle.

@ derek. I agree with you. I think Land Raiders are very tough, but when everyone starts packing meltaguns...that's a very dangerous threat to your Land Raider.

@ Kid_Happy. I don't think they'll be nerfed, vehicles are dangerous but only at this points level are they really nasty (and only with GK aka new Space Marine rules). You can run a LR horde with just about anybody, but only the DH can really also kick your butt with mass flamers. No way my LR can kill that many orks in hard cover, but those flamers sure can. Marines and Chaos and WH really have a hard time doing this army and not being weak to everything (DH mystics preventing deep strikers is also huge for this army).

@ Grotsnik: 4 Inq Retinues unlock 4 Land Raiders. 1 GK Hero unlocks 3 LRC as heavy. 3xStormtroopers go in the LRC and tada a perfect storm is born.

@ Cent99. It is hilarious. It will be broken back down into multiple raider detachments for different armies.

More battle reports = good. It helps everyone I think.

4 Crusader w/15 squads, or 4 crusader w/min 'stay in' squads and lots of supporting vehicles like vindis and dreads?

At 2500 points Black Templar can really lay the smackdown.

Only one local player I know of has a Demon army and he doesn't seem to want to play DH. At least not if I'm running them. lol

Apparently my disdain of them has ummm impacted sales.

So, I'll have to make a decent list (somehow), kill everyone with it, and then they'll all believe Demons are the shizzat.

It is an interesting list.

That is one thing about the ‘Ard Boyz is all of the different list you can encounter. It is hard for an army to take on a green tide of orks, a shooting CSM army, and this LR army all at the same time.

It makes me wonder if I could take on this list on with the one I used.

Indeed, I think at this points level all you can do is prepare to be shot/assaulted off the board at all times.

This truly was funny to read. Optimized vs. non optimized every game.

Question. In scenario 3 (and scenario 2 for that matter), only troops and HQ could start on the table, then everything can come on beginning turn 1.(plus night fight) It looks like your whole army was on the table and very far up on turn 1. Did you all play different missions? If not, how did LRC's become fall into the Troop choice selection?

Off the top of my head, it was 3 largish crusader squads, 1 assault terminators squad, and 2 predator annihilators in support. Only army it didn't massacre (got a draw, in fact), was a 9-oblit, dual-lash, noise marine force.

gotta play this list against my ork, just ned to kamakazi bikerz at it with a PK nob.

The 3 LRC will go into one army.

2 LR will stay LR and go into another army.

2 other LR will become LRR and also be swappable back to LR, and go into yet another army.

Eldrad didn't actually DO anything that game. He just soaked up alot of firepower and stayed alive. lol

@ Sarigar: My models were just sitting on the table lol there was nothing deployed from my side in games 2 or 3.

Dawn of War made my list stupid good.

@stelek@sarigar: yeah, the only reason you have troops and hqs in your army is for the dedicated transport (and FOC requirement)

It was fun to see someone actually do the huge Land Raider army. After the missions were released, some folks were commenting how silly good Black Templars would be (LRC's as dedicated transports that give up 0 kill points...)

This Eldar army was not even semi-competitive.

Ardboyz is about the hordes of unpainted gray & silver. I've yet to see a completely painted Ardboyz army.

A majority of the armies at my HB tourney were painted.

They didn't last year. They said they didn't this year.

Especially with lance armor upgrade. Severally limits Eldar and Dark Eldar.

I couldn't paint them, they were still being assembled a day before the tournament.

I *was* busy getting another army ready in the previous couple months, ya know.

Never have owned a LR before, not sure how I am going to paint them up.

Blah blah, can't paint them until assembled.

You know that pre-assembly painting is some people's method of choice...

I've never mastered that trick myself.

Never saw a reason to.
