It seems that all content other than the 'Ard Boys rules have been removed from the GW site.

Does this mean that they are updating it to include the semi finals scenarios?

Lets hope so. BTW, Hellfury, did you play in round 1 of the Ard Boy?

Yes. Out of all the armies one would expect to place highly, I placed 2nd with Deathwing of all armies...

Don't knock it. Deathwing scored third in my area as well, and they've proven to be the hardest army for me to beat so far. The best I've been able to do against em is force ties.

I would have thought the likelihood of doing well with Deathwing would have decreased as point levels increased but it seems to be proving just the opposite. I'd guess it's from more room for the extra toys to fill out the list.

Congrats Hellfury. I ask because you were so anti-40K for such a long time.

I think you are right, but as the saying goes "Nothing says this 24" radius of space is mine, like three vindicators". Toys do indeed help make Deathwing better.

Thanks. I am still on the fence about it, but there is no denying that you have to give it a chance before you poo-poo a new rule set.

The topic at hand, I am surprised Mr. Gohlinghorst hasn't commented as to why the content has been taken down yet.

I would assume they'd not take the stuff down unless they were ready to put the new stuff right back up, and it's been too long for that. More over, most people don't work on Sundays. I hope it's up tomorrow.

It appears they've replaced the old with, well, the old.

Any chance you think they'd just recycle the scenarios?

Been off running at GT

I'll find out when to expect the updated scenarios and when those will go live (though I'll be remiss if I do not include the obligatory, "The semi-finals location should be able to contact their account rep and have an answer as quick as picking up the phone, and relay that info to you, should you call them.")

Not the SOUTH EAST Rep, at least. If we asked today we might find out in time for the third round.

I wasn't aware the scenarios were available before the first round of 'Ard Boyz, and I still ranked high enough to make it to the semi-finals.

But I would like to know if there is a scenario which gives a huge boost to something not in my current list... Kind of like that one Fantasy scenario a few years ago where the only Victory condition was to get a unit of foot troops into your opponents deployment zone, which became nicknamed the "Dwarfs Automatically Lose" mission.

The scenarios are being wrapped-up in Production right now, so they should go live by tomorrow afternoon (barring any publishing hiccups within the servers themselves).

Great, thanks Chris.

Other than cleaning up some of the wording and reordering the scenarios, anyone notice whether there is there anything else significantly different? I've just given them a cursor glance in class.

There is now one each of the deployments, as opposed to two Dawn of War and one Spearhead. Otherwise it looks very similiar.

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Ah, good catch. 2 Dawn of War deployments were brutal for some armies.

I was hoping there would be THREE Dawn of War deployments. They really favor my army. I was so psyched to see two of em the first round.

One of the bonus points in the third mission amuses me. +1 point if your opponent never controls one of the objectives. Really? I get a bonus point if they can't manage to get a single troop unit onto a single objective that's in their deployment zone for a single turn.

It could happen if you get first turn against demons, drop pod, etc... Possible, though unlikely.

Other changes in the scenarios are in the battle point mods.

I've heard nothing that says tanks are scoring, and a bunch that says they're not.

The store Hobby Annex in Dallas, TX closed its doors and is apparently moving to somewhere just a few blocks away.

They're supposed to be reopening on the day of the semi-finals.

Trouble is, it's as of yet impossible to get ahold of them. Does ANYONE know ANYTHING about what's going down with this that can help me? I don't want to show up that morning to find they aren't hosting it, or that it's full because I didn't get the chance to sign up. Is there a GW person I can call?

That first mission is angry to the ork horde list. And imp guard for that matter. Take that low kill point armies!

Dang it, more of this kill point malarkey. I'd hoped that Round 1 would have seen the last of this. Hope I don't run into KP hiding IG...or dedicated transport Land Raiders....or horde orks...dang it.

Gonna be a rough tourney.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

Spellbound: they have a yahoo games group that sees a lot of traffic--you can try there.

I can tell you that they're definately going to be hosting the tournament on Saturday, but I have no idea if they're full or not.

You can also try emailing Chris Allen, he will be running the event. You can find his email on yahoo groups page as well. Good luck.

The 5 kill point mech guard list would be tempting if i had it.
