My latest handy work. The doors are an attempt to match forgeworld. I'm just not good enough to get the laurel leaf design sculpted. The hinges on the doors were actully pretty easy though. Let me know what you think.

Great Painting job and freehand?? details or are they cut outs. But the only thing that bothers me is the lascannons will be shooting the marines in the back as they roll out of the tank.

The details are greenstuff, with the exception of the seals and the wings. "Veni, Vidi, Vici" was hand painted, "Honor" is etched into the green stuff.

I've always thought the crew of a Land Raider were more of the Mechanicus side than the actual chapter side. Extr proof from the internet: http://tsoalr.com

The tank crew have mechanicus iconography, and traditionally paint schemes as well, however they're (fluff wise) usually reserve company marines. Which reserve company usually is dependant on what vehicle they're in... one company usually fields the tanks, while another does the landspeeders.

Well, it doesn't look like it's ever seen a muddy, dusty or otherwise dirty battlefield, or ever been shot at or otherwise attacked. That's not neccesarily a bad thing, but some folks like things to look "weathered" to some extent.

Reminds of a line from the Search for the Holy Grail where one peasant tells another that you can tell someone's a king because they're not covered in gak.
BTW, does anyone paint weathered tau or eldar vehicles? I've never seen one.

That's because eldar repel dirt at the molecular level and tau use cleaner drones (even in the midst of battle!) to keep themselves nice and tidy.

Have you ever noticed that in that picture in the rulebook (5th ed) with all the ultramarines (not 5th company) guarding the entrance to a palace, the assault cannon on one dreadnought is drilled but not on the other? Big blunder for what looks like 'Eavy Metal painting.

Thats exactly what I mean. Ugly dirty battle hardened veterens or nice clean just out of tha academy cherrys , who would you want on your side ? take your pick.
Eldar and tau hover so I guess they get less crap on them anyway.

I've always been undecided on battle damage and dirt. How much is too much? Will the mud match the army of the buyer? Questions I just don't have an answer for; so I play it safe with a fresh from the Munitorium look.
