I am starting the painting for a Salamander army and wanted to get some feedback on the scheme. I feel like the base coat went on pretty well and the black recesses in the armor are more or less all there. It was my first time trying blending, and I feel like the flame scheme on the arrows works pretty well for the army. The eyes need to be cleaned up a little, some suggestions on good ways to do that would be appreciated.
I plan to base these guys with gray rocks / ash (cork) and maybe some lava here or there. I guess more interesting basing will go on sergeants and possibly special/heavy weapons.
All criticism and feedback is greatly appreciated.

I've personally never been a huge fan of blending for the sake of blending something. I'd rather see the arrow a solid color and use the flame motif elsewhere on the model with a definite flame shape. It's nicely done though! Don't get me wrong! But I feel it could be much more effective elsewhere.
Have you done a good bit of mold line clean up for these guys? I see some gnarly ones on the middle troop but don't see much elsewhere. I haven't touched the mold lines on my AoBR marines yet x.x (I just finished with the Orks!). Not looking forward to the shaving and filing that will need to be done for them...
There are some coverage issues with the green in a few spots here and there. How many coats of green are you putting on? Are you building up from other greens (foundation paint or other)?

Yeah... I definitely missed a few mold lines on one or two models (easy enough to smooth out and touch up). The AoBR marines are pretty annoying when it comes to mold lines honestly, the arrows on the shoulders have a two layered feel the mold was so far off on some of them... it took quite a bit of work to smooth them out.
As far as the paint going onto the power armor, I just primed them black, did a coat of dark angel green and then did a coat of snot green. They look smooth and even for the most part from about 6 inches away... I have a feeling that might just come out funny with the camera and poor lighting. The pictures do look splotchy, where exactly do they look a bit off to you though?
I really wanted to do flames on all my marines, but was unsure what to do with these guys. Where do you think would be a fitting place for the flames if not on the shoulder? I guess I could completely remove the arrow but that feels like a bit of a waste.
Thanks a lot for the feedback. Hoping to make my marines look better.

I like the blending on the shoulder arrows. Keep it.

Nice looking first start.
My experience painting Salamanders, Snot goes on splotchy without multiple coats. Snot has crappy coverage, plain and simple. I did the Da green basecoat thing and just found it was an extra step that didn't do much -- still had to do two coats minimum of properly watered down snot coats whether it was over black or DA green. YMMV.
On tanks it was even more rediculous. My rhinos have 5-6 coats.

I've used the snot green over orkhide shade foundation as a base coat with good results.
These boys look great and I like the flame motif of the arrow. Now I'm wishing I chose to paint mine as sallies instead of ultra-offshoots...
I had the same issues with mold lines for my AoBR marines, although not quite as bad as yours sound. Some of the models looked like they weren't quite lined up. One of my models escaped the knife too, unbeknownst to me until I did my wash and the lines stood out plain as day. Keep it up!

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
