How do you get thick red wet looking blood.. like the models have been spattered all over with fresh, wet, glistening blood?.. I wanna cover my khornate Marauders in it like they have killed many and bathed in the stuff...
I still want it to look all wet and fresh though. How do I accomplish this?
Also, does anyone have pics of the finished product of this method?
Also Im lookin to do the glowy eye effect. Im a good painter, I can produce a lot of detail. I just need to know the method to the madness.
Thanks in advance!

Incorporating Wet-Blending

One problem with alot of attempts at blood is that it is too pink. Don't just use straight red. It's fine for edging (where the blood is lightened a bit) or mixed spatter, though. I like to add some browns, blacks or even purples into crimson to give it that deep, arterial look. To make it look shiny, either glosscoat or mix in a little PVA glue to the paint to give the finish sheen.
How glowey do you want the eyes? OSL can get pretty complex. For a simple effect, basecoat white in they eyes amd the lit areas then wash with the light color (red, blue, green, etc). Then blend the surrounding areas into you flesh tone.
OSL is easily overdone and can lose its effect. I advise restraining it to special models such as unit leaders, sorcerers, generals, enchanted weapons, etc.

I've had some decent results with a mix of brown, red and black inks. Always remember, blood is pretty dark, if you go at it with plain red, you end up with the kind of bad blood effect you get in old kung-fu movies.

Can yo umix blood red and a little rust or copper color with water effects the spatter or dip the minis to get that nice soaked look.. shouldnt that way end up being translucent so you dont loose model detail?

Is there any way to make it flowy? So I can literally pour it on their heads w/o it just seeking the crevaces like ink?

try using an extender with a bit of red ink mixed into the water effects stuff. I have seen some interesting stuff with this. ( for bright fresh blood) mess with browns with your reds for older blood.
Besides if I remember some of my biology stuff correctly, bright red blood is caused by large amountd of Oxygen in it, the longers its not being fed oxygen the less bright red it is. Then it begins to decay and we all now what pretty color decaying stuff is.
Hope it helps

Like everyone else is saying... Experiment.
Your best bet is to find a mixture of colors that look realistic, or good to your standards. If I remember correctly on the GWS website they had an article about making good blood... Might be worth finding.
And you can even add water effects, or glue into the mixture (like everyone else was saying).
and for a more gory effect (Like lumps of flesh) add enough glue to make the paint more "Blobish".

A good trick for adding "splatter" to models is to get an old tooth brush, dip it in the paint/fluid, point it at the model, then pull your thumb from the front to the back so it flicks forward. It gives a more spotty look with random blobs and dots, and can really help avoid either too much crevass settling like dipping produces or too "orderly" blood like hand application tends to produce. (Most people can not purposefully create random patterns.) It's a bit messy, but quick and gives a good random pattern.

tamiya red ink - it's water soluble but really thick & doesn't smell so good but is lovely for blood.
