I have just recently taken up nids and have found quite a few cheap lots on ebay and have traded some eldar for some through the wonderful dakka. one of the items i got was a 3rd edition ravener and after a bit of play testing with it found that scything talons being cheap are the best way to go [yes rendering is good, but its so weak that i only use it to shock assualt or hold up a unit from shooting or moving for a turn or 2].

for the last 24 hours i bashed out ideas and read the nid dex a bit and thought that i would model a ravener with scything talons jumping out of a burrow.
I have taken pics of the project to date and i have put it together and am working on painting it.
Im not the best at modeling.
Looking for C&C

@Edge, cheers, theres more to come ^^

if you look in the background of the photo above you can see a few test models, i'll post a full pic of one soon. but i use an undercoat of chaos black [to darken the colours], then the flesh is scab red, the catapace is skull white, then bleched bone over that, the edges of it are hightlighted with beastal brown and then a coat of delvin mud is applied. for the joins and the weapons bits, i have used blazing orange but think i might go with sunburst yellow for more contrast. i havent decided on the base colour yet

- American Pastoral, Philip Roth

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

Hi again Squig herder (no I'm not stalking you ),
May i suggest that if you paint the base a soil colour and then run snow around the outer edge (maybe patchy would look better) that way it looks as if the soil has come with him as he pierced the surface and its laying over the snow. Oh sorry, the model its self is great, you caught that surprise now I will bit your head off pose just right.
