I wanted to go for a 'Futuristic Alien Ceramic" look for my new Necrons. I did a warrior first, and am going to be doing one of each model until I have a prototype I like for each unit type. Here is my Warrior for starters. I will post future units as I finish them, I am almost done with my Immortal and Foot Lord, Wraith and Monolith after that, and then we'll see about Destroyers, Flayed Ones, and Immortals.

I Primed them white, did a green undercoat, painted armor and other things on top of that so that green still shows underneath, picked out some detail, than went over them with a glossy clear coat.

For the bases I wanted a cracked wasteland, picture a lava field but green glowing mystery material instead of lava... I used drywall spackel, cut cracks in it, painted it green, then brushed black over the top. I also Glossed it afterwards.

More advanced units will feature Red and possibly Black to represent their place in the 'Necron Class System', with a small amount of red and possibly a darker green undercoat for veteran units like Immortals, more Red for Destroyers, and Lots of Red and more detail for Lords. Pariahs I have not decided on, but I want to make them different somehow, any ideas?

Pretty sure its just Goblin Green paint, watered down a little bit, then applied in 2 coats over white primer. Covered by a PolyNamel gloss coat that I found at WalMart.

You have my approval, and are now allowed to apply this color scheme to the rest of your army.

Love the colours. The glossy finish just screams "plastic." In a very good way. Good job.

It looks a little like you just painted some portions of the model green but somehow left the rest of the model bare.

They remind me of cheap Holloween gummy candy.... I'm not sure if the sickly colors really work for me, but it is definitely unique and interesting. I would like to see a squad of them done before I pass judgement (some color schemes look good or bad on one model, but a different effect is reached on a squad of them).

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

I like it as well and would also like to see a squad of these painted up.

My son's necrons are the classic boltgun over black since it's easy to do and keeping things simple is good for short attention spans.

I did convince him to make his Immortals red, however, and look forward to seeing how well they stand out against a sea of dark metal.

If you're color coding these guys, you might go with a pale blue-white for the pariahs. It's close to the 'Eavy Metal scheme, but the blue tone would keep them consistent with your own theme. Might be a tad "skittles-ish", but as long as it's in keeping with your army theme it should look good.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Yeah, that would be nice

I like the colour scheme and the way you applied to the model, but maybe it lacks of contrast... Maybe you could paint the Gauss wires in the dark colour you have use as tertiary...

Just two things:
1. English is not my mother tongue. I´m really sorry for the misunderstandings and the kicks to the dictionary. Don´t be too hard on me, OK?
2. With the best intentions sometimes comes the worst advice. But you asked for it, didn't you?

It may be a week before I get much more painting done, I'm going out of town for Thanksgiving. But when I get done with things I'll add them to the thread, I'll make sure to work on that Monolith, though. I am pretty curious and excited to finish it...

My Lord is almost done, I just need to do 2 more passes of detail work, do something special for the base (still thinking of ideas, he is already standing on two floating scarabs, so something underneath them...I have a lot of Necron torsos and arms and legs so maybe I can put some Warriors crawling out of the ground or something), and a clear coat and he'll be done. Then I can put some time in on the Monolith.

You have used the Gauss Weapons for converting Inmortals, didn't you?

I know they are not really useful, but you can add to them some kind of claws and you can have some units of Flayed Ones. As I said, not really good unit, but better than crawling guys

not a fan of the gloss all over the modeli think it would look better as a flat finish with gloss banding, or the green colors being glossed. just makes it look too much like a toy.

Ky'Alur:

Yeah, I used them for Immortals and have the extra bits. Since I already have 12 Flayed ones I probably won't bother converting the leftovers to Flayed Ones, but I might try it once just to see how it looks...

Do you use green stuff to make skin and claws?

(I have literally NEVER used Flayed Ones, and I have bought 12 of them... I just am not too convinced of their usefulness against my usual Nid adversary)

I used plasticard to make the claws on mine, but I need to redo it with some thicker stuff as they've been breaking off. Green Stuff for skin is perfect.

As for their use... They're Good, but not Great. Not really part of my lists intended to do Really well, but something I indulge in periodically because they're cool.
