Well a mate of mine as just told me that he has a small amount of beastmen for sale on the cheap so it got me thinking 40k beastmen!

The army will be a counts as chaos space marine list, ill be using very low tech vehicles and the beastmen will have bolters and bolt pistols as well as numorus ccw ,but i was also considering using ork rules but still the same conversions...any ideas

Ill have a test model by next week and i hope to have my first finished army so then i can focus on my cobra guard.

A bit of fluff

The distant sound of horrific roars and the marching of a thousand hooves signalled the start of the battle for vidgard ridge. Hundreds of the emperor’s men stood ready to face any foe be it human or beast, their power armoured hands gripped tight on their bolters each man hiding his fear. The roars where closer and the clatter of armour battered the men’s ears, a scout ran over the hill his face twisted with horror his screams shattering the moral of this vast army. A gunshot rang out from the ranks and the scout fell to his knees “To show fear is to accept defeat!” bellowed commander vrak. The hill then came to life lined up on its top where hundreds of creatures part man part bull their pale blue skin glowed in the dim light, Their weapons bear ancient runes showing their connection to the dark gods. “So human…you have come…but for what I ask what would draw your pathetic soul from hiding Vrak!” the beastman’s voice was almost too human almost like he was once one. “You know why I have come” whispered Vrak “You will face my army Vrak what for to prove to the emperor your worthiness…You let us die Vrak we where brothers…and you failed us” declared the beatsman.

Haunting images of that forgotten night haunted the men, They where ordered to retreat from a battle during the Shrouded moon campaign, Unfortunately half the army was trapt in some ruins deep in the city, so Vrak made the call to all available units to fall back they flew over the ruins during the accent and a radio signal was sent to the abandoned men “To show fear is to accept defeat”. The warriors defended the ruins for days fighting off chaos’s most powerful entities until they where finally defeated, their broken bodies lie motionless their power armour scarred their loyalty disbanded. It did not take long for the warp to claim their bodies, they where reshaped and remade into the beasts they are today but something is different about these creatures they tricked the chaos gods. They used tseentch to gain the knowledge of magic then used it against him keeping his prying eyes away from them so they may fight their own battle. The creatures swore an oath that they would return to the ruins and summon their long dead primarch from the grave and explain to him their failure his reply is still remembered “To show fear is to accept defeat…my brothers you did not show fear you fought hard in my name and for that you are forgiven…I will join you now and together we shall unite the Chapter” And so they did they searched for years but could not find vrak or their brothers, until they landed on vidgard ridge.

Any ideas welcome!

I like it except SM wouldn't be scared of beastmen. They would simply go demons and blow them away with bolter fire.

Well when they say "To show fear is to accept defeat" is basicly what you guys said fear is something they are unknown to just like defeat. Also the bit about fear is kinda linked to the chapter they where in the shrouded moon campaign to redeem themselves after they did not act during the heresy they where simply to afraid not knowing whos was right,so the emporer said to the chapter either fight in this campaign or be branded traitors.and so the story happens the battle cry of the chapter past and chaos-present where the words of the primarch during the landing of the first battle in the shrouded moon campaign.

The beastmen were worshippers of tseentch but lured by the whispers of khorne betrayed him using their magic to blind his gaze from their deed, they are also one of the only khorne chapters as such to use magic due to the fact khorne was intruqied at their druidic blood magic

would beastmen be feasable for a 40k daemon list?

beasts with guns for horrors, basic beasts for Daemonettes (well, male ones at least), Khorngor for bloodletters, and Pestigor for Plaguebearers?

i tried to do something like this AGESSS ago when daemons were still in the CSM codex, but alas didnt have the attention span...:(

Orgainly and when I say that I main along time ago best me where apart of the IG army
Anyway I you had look around you will find that you could have best men for both IG and Chaos armies in epic (space marine) is what it was called back then
So your Idea is by know means far fetched

Ive got a photo of a old IG epic spure you can probably see them on it

Pale blue skin with white fur and dark blue armour with silver trim
OR
Grey skin with white fur with either blue or red armour with silver trim

Hmm, I would go for a black (or veeeeeeeery dark brown) skin with white fur. The armour should be dark red. Not too dark since the skin is already quite dark but not too light so it becomes a bright colour like the Space Marines, perhaps the red CMDante is using for his Blood Pact models, check his blog. The metallic bits could be boltgun metal with lighter silver highlights/drybrushing, same goes for the weapons by the way.

UMMM sounds gd i was thinking the skin to go from black to a medium grey highlight

Ah, Alpha Legion! Well if you did the armour like that in combination with the brown skin it would look amazing I think! Or perhaps the black/grey skin like you mentioned but then with that armour!

actually glad you didnt take me up on the Daemon army idea, cos i found mine the other day and want to paint them up again with new bits

the beastman is pretty cool, my only critiscism, if you can call it that, is that more beardy players may ask where the 3+ save comes from on the beast?

i like the rhino too. like the "looted" look...

Thanks for the comments on the rhino,i was meant to go for the looted look and i hope with the addition of a few bits it will look kwl

Well im glad no ones said my beastmans power klaw is to big because i think it really gives him some character.

Power claw is really cool.

I'd agree with the red armour (I've always been a Khorne fan) and you've got the Khorne symbol on the Rhino already.

Found the 40K beastman rules in an old white dwarf last night - it said in there they kept falling over to Chaos!
