The ruins of the Palace of Thorns

I've just spent an awful lot of money on books, paints and orkz after not playing any GW at all for about 14-15 years. I've already broken some rules I set myself about not buying new models until the last ones are painted, but never mind. I am going to try and stick to a rule of colecting in 500 point blocks and not moving on until painted.

I decided to build a Mekboy army, mainly so the first 500 points would be easy to paint quickly. The problem with the first 500 points is that I have NO scoring units in that block, but that just means I have to either play annihilation games or force a tactical tie in one of the other scenarios then get a points win.

I'll put my first few blocks I am planning up here and I'd be grateful for comment. I've bolded stuff that I already own and that is almost finished painting, as it makes it less likely I'll want to move it to a later block.

Dose Yellow Bastiches

Block 1

Zogmek - Big Mek, Kustom Force Field, 'Eavy Armour, Bosspole

Bignob - Big Mek, Kustom Mega Blasta

Deff Dredd, Big Shoota, Skorcha

Deff Dredd, Big Shoota, Skorcha

10 Burna Boyz, (inc 2 mekboyz)

Looted Wagon, (no extras, used by Burna Boyz & Zogmek)

Zogmek and Gobnob got a bit overzealous wiv dere gubbinz-makin and had to run away from dere old warboss, but dey took dere 2 assistantz and Deff Dreddz wiv 'em. When da 8 Burna Boyz saw 'em leavin', dey realized dat nowun else could make da Joose for dere burnaz, so dey nicked and old trukk an drove off after 'em...

Block 2

Looted Wagon, Boomgun, 2 x Rokkit Launcha, 'Ard Case

3 x Killa Kanz, Kustom Mega Blastas, Grot Riggerz

5 Lootaz (3 Mekboyz)

(Burnaz switch to 10 boyz and no mekz)

2 x 15 Grotz, Runtherdz

After da warboss sent sum ov da boyz out to find his mekz, dere woz a bit ov a scrap, but da boyz got crumped by da Mekz' kool gubbinz. Dey decided ta throw in wiv da mekz in exchange fer sum Big Gunz, which da Mekz had lotz of fun makin'.

After dat, da ladz found sum grotz wanderin' round wiv dere herderz. Da mekz convinced da Herderz to join up, den turned sum of da Grotz into Kanz. Nice. Dey also found a big gun, wot dey stuck on a wagon dey nicked.

Block 3

15 Kommandos, Nob, Big Choppa, 'Eavy Armour, Bosspole

30 Boyz, Nob, 'Eavy Armour, Big Choppa

something from the Fast Attack section - can't decide what - 105 points available. The other option is item upgrades elsewhere in the army.

Da Kommandos were quite impressed wiv da mekz when dey sneakily watched 'em in a big scrap. Dey joined in at da' end just in time fer sum loot, den stuck around. Big flamey fingz tend to be a gud distrakshun an make it easier ta be sneaky.

Da boyz turned up outta da bloo an said dey 'ad eard about dese two krazy mekz wot woz givin' out gud bashinz an' jus' asked ta join up...

What do people think? I know it might make sense to focus less on Mekboyz, but I've got the model and flavour set now, so I can't change it. My mind doesn't work that way, sadly.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

i like it. this is afterall a hobby and you have to set out and collect the models you really like. it's a nice and fluffy list.
in a tournament scene you would have some trouble because you're a little low on troops. the important thing though is that you have fun with playing, collecting and painting.
did i say i like the list, it's really characterfull.
