The bit stuck on the side of England. Wales isn't it.

It's ok for a start. Will need to explore the wonders od washes , drybushing , shading , highlighting e.t.c. Keep up and you might be as good as me ( i.e. average ) or even better. lol

yea for the most part those are a really good start. You need to shave off some of them mold lines, and i agree with the washes. specially on the face. just painting a flesh tone and leaving it makes the skin look bad. any darker wash will make the skin look awesome.
ANYWAYS enough of the criticism, those marines look pretty good tho. do the tips and they will look really nice

Goin' with the flow on this one !

Good, strong colour scheme, but in need of washes and highlighting ( comes with practice, trust me ) and maybe a little more tidying ( shoulder trims on the captain mainly ).

Nice to see you've done a pupil on the Captain's eye ( so many people miss that ).
Oh, final point ( not a biggie in any way ) the helmet lenses need a finishing touch. Look at GW's uk site for articles on painting Space Marine Helmet Lenses ( there's probably an article on dakka that covers it too )

I'll give you a 4/5 for a good start. just need to brush up a little on the finer points.

You need to clean things up, and perhaps give it a nice wash to give it some dimension, but other then that, really nice. You're off to a good start.

for shadows & depth: ink the colour of whatever your base colour is

for rust & corrosion on metal, faces & skin, & shading on leather & ropes: fleshwash

for bloodstains: red ink.

although, I would suggest, because your base colour is black, & youre painting marines, put some time into developing your edging technique. I think theres a tutorial for this somewhere on Dakka, but what it basically comes down to is painting a very thin, lightly coloured line along the edges of the marine's armour, say around the edges of the main shoulder pad where it meets the trim.

For colour I would suggest grey. I couldnt tell you which pot to buy, because I always mix my own greys from skull white & chaos black, but something thats not too light or the edging will look unnatural.

Itll be difficult at first, but if you put the time in it'll pay off. try to use the flat edges of your brush, almost as if you were drawing the edging on with a fineliner pen. Also, the golden rule is dont overload your brush, there shouldnt be any blobs of paint clumped on the brush & for this kind of stuff you really do need a tiny amount of paint.

hope that helps

Good stuff. Try using less paint on your brush, it will bring out more detail on the models.

It's okay for a first try, What I would suggest is maybe consider avoiding black or white at first though, they are two colours that I find require more effort than others to make them look good, notably they require more highlighting work.

Grey can also be risky as a flat grey leaves the model looking unpainted.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Yeah not a bad job for your 1st ones, some of the advice mentioned above will probs be quite helpful if you wanted to improve eventually. My friend recently started collecting Tau and had never paintined before, as he wanted to get them painted quite quickly for a game,I recomened that he should just do all the basic base colors then if he ever wanted to go back and have a go at shadeing washing etc he could. Anyway keep up the good work

thank you for the advice evryone it was really helpful. He came out much better. I used some badab black on his face and he looks really cool. He is now tan and I put some eyes on him as will and highlited his har so it looks a little darker then his skin.
