Well this will be my first army and yes i know i stop and start projects but im sticking with his one.

Well the army is Sovian IV's very own Iron legion wich is a fast acting imperial guard regiment.It will have lots of sentinels and tanks supported by infantry and heavy weapon teams.

The arny will be useing pig iron winter heads and cadian plastics.The bases will be snow themed.and all seargents close combat weapons will be tools like picks,shovels and hammers due to the fact infantry squads main mission is to clear the roads of debri so the tanks can move around easier but they will count as chainswords.Oww and im doing heavy bolter sentinels with missle-pods.

So ive got the heads and im awaiting the battleforce.

Wow I didnt know that pig Iron did those! Will certainly be watching this thread.

Well my battle force isnt here yet but i have managed to set up a deal to get two sentinels for 15 quid on sprue so thats good.

Yer the heads came out not long ago.

Heres a bit of fluff its the diary of the regiments commander rosenrot after the fall of sovian III capitol


Diary of Commander Rosenrot

Day 1 (After cities fall)
The capitol city of Sovian III lay silent its majestic buildings that once stood proudly now slept on its many roads. The smell of dust and rubble chocked us even through our rebreathers and the stench of death plagued our nostrils. We had bean on patrol for four days looking for survivors and we had found none. The Xeno’s had wiped out a whole colony in a day and it was our fault. We had failed in defending the city walls we had allowed these monsters to attack the city. I and few infantry squads where all that was left of the iron legion and we knew we had only one choice. We had to enter the invested city and hunt down and kill the xeno’s saving as many civilians as we could along the way we would hopefully clear the iron legions name of shame.

Day 2
We where ambushed this morning by the Xeno’s and lost two good men but we have gained something from this we now know what it is we are fighting...Tyranids.We spent the rest of the day searching for a place to hold up and to create some sort of command Hq. we found none such place but we did find the ruins of an imperial manafactorium and in its womb we found 2 fully functioning chimeras and years worth of fuel. Things are now starting to look up for us....I hope it lasts

Day 3
At last we found some survivors and better yet of the iron legion. They say it was during the retreat that they where lost,the sergeant had seen a woman and two children cowering from a Tyranid. with only his las-pistol he stood in the face of a great foe and for that he has my honor.Today we also found a place to call head quarters are search will broaden tomorrow.

Day 4
Today brought us nothing but sadness as we realized the extent of the devastation the tyranids had invested all four quadrants not just this one. Our expectations of this enemy where low and now they are proving us wrong. Tomorrow i shall accompany the flame thrower squads as we start to clear the streets of small tyranid like creatures the men have nicknamed them “Nippers” but i am sure they are more dangerous then we think.

Day 5
The purging was a success within the flames of the emperor the tyranids died. The men now have some much needed moral and i have given each member of the flamer squads a piece of exo skeleton from the tyranids bodies. Its not pretty but its a medal none the less. `

Day 34
Our small colony is thriving we know have 32 women,56 men and 12 children. This is hardly a city but we can start to rebuild soon. The tyranids are starting to appear again i thought we had got them all. Also somethings stirring in the sky i suspect a storm but im unsure.

Day35
Its all gone to hell! i was wrong it was no storm it was a hive fleet. The city is darkened by those living ships and masses of tyranids are hording ready to devour us all. Today no man stood above another sergeants dropped their swords and exchanged them for shovels. We have built as much of a defence as possible and now we wait. They will be here by dawn and so shall we. I wonder where the salvage squads are we need the men.

Day 36
I was right at dawn they came hundreds of the gibbering things we lined the make-shift walls Las-rifles ready. Fighting these beasts is not like fighting men they have no moral and they fear nothing.with as the emperor as my witness i will put the fear into them yet.The gunline stood fast and should hold until tomorrow after that i do not know what will happen.

Day 37
By the emperor we where saved just as the gunline broke just as we where about to falter. God bless yimerick the salvage squad returned riding 3 leman russ battle tanks and following them a whole infantry regiment.Yimerick and his crew had found even more Iron legion survivors and together they came to our rescue. Now we are ready to leave we just need t make it to Sovians III hangers.

Day 75
The vulture ride was horrific it reminded me why i didn't become a “Fly-Boy”.We landed on a planet not far from Sovian III its snowy wastes show signs of civilisation it seems as though the tyranids had bean here already so hopefully they wont be returning. We have decided to colonize the planet and re-name it Sovian IV after our home planet. We have finally got Vox signals and have sent for aid.

Day 76
Today was spent clearing the wastes of snow and rubble so that the builders that where rescued from Sovian III can start building. We have received news that a space marine chapter shall be coming with the aid i ponder on what chapter they shall send.

Day 77
Damn those fools!Today we received the much needed aid but it was not food or water but ammo and orders delivered personally by malneus calgar...THE PIG!.We are spent and yet they ask this of us. I realized after why we being forced to fight its not for the emperor but to protect ultrama Well damn him we shall not go!I have a plan to destroy the tyranid all i need is time and a manafactorium

Day 95
We have finished it a mix between leman russ and basilisk with a hint of hydra. This new war machine will end the tyranid horde especially now we have 5 more to be finished.

Day 100
I have missed a few days and i apologies,Today we landed on Sovian III The sight of the Mutter VI company rolling on to the ground sent shivers through me. We have started to prepare for tomorrow.

Day 101
It is marvelous the “Holy choir Mutter company” started its bombardment and has already purged half the city. Once they are done i can safely send teams to plant the 35 massive krak bombs in the target destinations and them boom goodbye tyranids. I just wish they had stayed in the city then the planets destruction would not be needed .

Day 102
Not much to say other than the purging was a success and that most bombs are in place tomorrow we shall be leaving the planet to its fate.

Day 103
Today is day to remember, the day when a small group of imperial guard destroyed an entire hive fleet and the day Sovian III was sent straight to the history books. My eyes watered as i watched the massive explosion engulf everything i knew its bright red and blue flames shot far into space destroying the tyranid ships. Today was a good day to live.

Do you guys think its worth picking up the codex because of the rumoured new one?

That's a hard one.

I would say: No.

But then again I invested in 2 Chimeras, 40 Men, 5 Heavy weapons, and loads of extras just before Xmas.

Well heres my first sentinel from a squad of three,Standard multi-laser,not much conversion work but heck i think hes cool

The other sentinel will have a heavy flamer.And when i get the next one it will have a heavy bolter and missle pod

Wow, absolutely superb posing on the Sentinel. I think is does the vehicle's mobility an infinite amount more justice than the stock model's current static pose.

I think the base is a bit excessive. The trooper is tacky, and giant pencil looking thing is well...giant. I like the idea, but making him step over something smaller that doesn't protrude an inch off the base on each side would be great. Adding some pipes and sprockets would make the base come to life.

Well about the pillar,it doesnt look that big in real life.And yer ill ass some rubble and stuff to the base.

Very nice stuff! I love pig iron heads on the guard. They go together very well. And your sentinel! Wow! It is so much better than just having them stand there.

i like the little conversions you've made to the vehicles and the sentinels.

The heads look really good on the Cadian bodies - very nice. And I love the weapon swap you did on the Heavy Flamer for the Russ. The work you did on the Sentinels is really great stuff, too - keep up the good work.

The sentinels where firstly very of the shelf then i got the idea that the sentinels are some of the oldest vehicles and except for a lick of paint now and again they recive no repairs and so the pilots individualise them to suit there needs like a big Ol eagle.


Oh and if theres anyone out there with the legs from the tank commander sprue spare ide be greatfull....Im planning on making roughriders!!!!

I love the "crushed pavement" detail it really looks like the sentinal has crushed a pathway

@OP dont forget to paint the hands as if they are wearing glove :"o with the fuzzy hat they are wearing, doesnt make sense if its bare skin :3
