Ok so i Currently have 3 armies in the pipeline at the moment and have done for some time, theres my bad moon orks, Black Templar Sucessor chapter and my Vampire counts. so i thought i'd write this in an attempt to motivate myself to paint on a regular basis and hopefully finish these armies. My goal is to have at least 1 of these 3 forces painted before summer. I have a system in place, first i paint a few test models, then the army commander. After this I paint on a squad/reward system, so for every full unit i paint i get to model and paint something excessive, the excessive thing of the moment will be named in the thread title. the first of these will be my looted Defiler (more on this later).

So, a quick bit about each army, first up are the orks. I've played generic ork armies since 3rd ed. 40k came out and wanted to re-do my army after seeing the new battlewagon and nobz box sets. The aim of these is to get them done fast but well, I also wanted to commit to a clan, traditionaly i've always leaned towards blood axes and i've never in 14 years of painting used yellow as acore colour in a paint scheme. As a result of this i decided on a change and did Bad moons. First up is my WIP warboss, his heads been reposittioned and he's been given eavy armour and some extra plates to beef him up. All i need to finish really is the Wrist band on his shoota arm, drill out gun barrels and paint the Base. Ive also thrown in pics of My wip deffcoptas and the lone boy completed for the army. flash on the camera seems to have glared them up somewhat so any advice on taking photos will be much appreciated. its late now so more later.

what type of metal paint do you use on the
helicopter Blades?

Its just boltgun metal with a babdad black wash then a couple of light drybrushes of chainmail

Ok so i mentioned a looted defiler in my first post and the defiler I purchased off ebay arrived today, I've still not decided weather to use it as a looted wagon with a boomgi=un or a battlewagon with killkannon. so far i've removed most of the chaos iconography including cannon mouth and blast shield. tomorrow I go to my local GW and buy a trukk, some chains, guitar strings and some plasticard then the real work begins. The plan is to expand the area between the two standing legs then mount the rear scrtion of the truck to the rear section of the defiler. I also need a box of grots as any ork vehicle should be covered in grots. hopefully i can retain enough of the trukk to make a warbuggy or scorcha too. Pictures will follow when i've done something a bit more impressive than filing icons.

As promised here are some WIP pictures of my looted defiler, i plan to use it as a battlewagon with killkannon as i wanteda transport capacity to it. Theres still lots of work to be done on it. So far i have removed all of the chaos icons, mounted the flatbed from the trukk onto the back, complete with plasticard housing, made accomodation for the first of the grot riggaz and beefed up the main turret section. Still to go i have to place the engine, its probably going on the side of the turret without the big shoota, with a scratch built housing. From this i want lots of exhausts coming out towering above the model. I am also contemplating adding an orky jaw to the front of the model between the claws, need opinions on this idea (kinda like the jaw from the upcoming stompa kit). I would also like to mount a second big shoota or a rokkit launcha, maybe 2 but currently i cant work out where to put them. Finally I also want some bad moon icons on the turret housing and the jaw if i make it, and all of the plasticarding needs like a million rivets. So as promised, Pictures:

when i inevitably start orks i am going to do something like that.

Nooooooooooooooooooo! Looted defiler? Looks good, maybe a few more glyphs or painted symbols on the armour plates. Keep it up

Ok so it has been a while since my last update but here we go. Finished mounting the engine and housing beside the turret of the Looted defiler and added about 50 brass rivets (which was quite soul destroyingly dull actually). Thought I would post up a few pics so I could get some C&C before i prime it next week. As for a final paint job, the chaos armour is going to be a deep Khornesque red (red wunz go faster) while all of the orky bits i have bolted om will follow the black and yellow scheme from the rest of my orks (see my first post).

Next up we have Vlad from my VC army, although I am using him as a standard vampire lord. He was my entry to uk Games Day 2008 and although he didnt get anywhere i'm quite pleased with him. After this post i'm going to take a spraygun and some Dehneb stone to a unit of 20 skellies so as to give him some much needed company.

Finally I would like to share my progress of my Black Templar 'sucessor' chapter with you all. I have painted nearly 8 whole marines which is quite an achievement for me. Unfortunately this does not mean I have a near complete unit as 3 are from 1 squad and 5 from another, as you can see some are of a slightly lower standard, these were test pieces while i was still toying with the colours. Next up is my chapter master that I made from Helbrecht for Games Day 2007 (then re-touched him and re-used for GD2008) and his replacement, a WIP Calgar conversion with twin LC. Finally I included my Chaplain as he looks quite nice but does not get out of the case much anymore due to the changes to preferred enemy brought about by 5th ed rendering his litanies mostly useless.

Oh almost forgot, this chapter needs a name, any suggestionswould be most welcome.

thats a wagon, dont often see a stompy wagon, and this makes me proud to collect orks, keep up the good work mate

Let there be blogomancy, having just got back from holiday I felt the need to update this with something, anything really so, first thing I did when i got back was buy a stompa, huzzar, having to fight the urge to buy 2 more to make a mek stompa and a Goff Rok n Rolla.

I have found a system for fast bulk painting undead skellies, if anyone has one for zombies though please let me know, I still cant bring myself to paint them in any quantity as i truly dislike the sculpts.

The defiler is primed and i've decided the legs need more orkination, just ordered some more glyphs and plates from bitz box, when they get here and i've updated the model i'll post some pics(I also bought spares to put a second pillbox on my stompa and some chain to attach the exhausts like in the latest WD).

Oh and as a side note I've just purchased nearly enough space marine ships for BFG to be my chapters entire fleet, i'm shore 1 battle barge and 3 strike cruisers. I've also found my old escher necromunder gang, so thats gone in the paint stripper and will be being repainted soon, have to say they are one of a very few female sculpts gw has ever got right and one of my favourite minis of all time is the heavy with the plasma gun (I'm looking for a new one of those at the moment come to think of it).

A looted defiler works the same way a looted carnifex does, through pure pig headed stubbornness of the orks envolved, (I'm using battlewagon rules for it though) this was actually a tone down on the original plan which was a looted soul grinder with a team of wierdboys riding it and goading it from a wierdboy tower on the back (like the old epic ones). one day I might go back to it after I have a playable army to use.

Also I forgot to mention my marines are now (sort of) at company strength in that theres over 100 of them (but 15 of those are in terminator armour, but its templars so who cares) so now I am scrounging up transports for them all.

Nice work on the looted Defiler/trukk.
