I was able to get 2500 points of Orks base colored back when the Ard Boyz was going. After that, not much work. I've finally gotten some time to go back through and start some of the detail work. I've also completed one of the new Ork Nobz (minus the base) from the Assault on Black Reach boxset and am very impressed with the quality of the model. I'm going to have some spare time over the next few months, so I'm hoping to get all my infantry models detailed (@ 100 models). I've finished my first 12 Trukk boyz; only a lot more to go.

Great stuff!

How did you do the color of your guns? I like them a lot.

Thanks.

For the guns, I used Foundation Adeptus Gray and Badab Black wash as the base coat. Then some lighter grey for highlights.

I made some more progress on another of the AoBR Nob. I still need to work on the skin. I'll post it tonight.

Very nice job on these, Sarigar. I really like the very vivid blue on the faces. Great contrast, look forward to seeing more.

Nice work on the paintjob! Don't really like the boyz nob as he look's a little too '4th edition' for me. Everything is fine other than that.

These are the best AOBR ork boy mobs i have seen so far .
The blue face tatoo just jumps right out, very effective!
also 10/10 on the weapons especially without using metal paints!

Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking about the comment 'a little too much like 4th edition'. My intent for my Orks were to be a bit dark, yet still infuse the 2nd edition look for them; which I think the skin is where the brightness starts to come out.

Detailing the army takes some time, but getting the base colors done on them was a fairly quick task. I really have been impressed with the GW line of Washes and Foundation Paints. I pretty much gave up on Citadel paints and went to Vallejo, but these two lines have brought back.

I didn't get much painted, only a single Nob (minus the base), but I figured I'd post up some pics of the AoBR Nobs that are finished. Hope you enjoy:

Hi, could you please tell us what colours you used for the skin, the weapons/armour and for the stone coloured clothing? Thanks!!

Sure, no problem:

Skin:For a black undercoat, Goblin Green (or the Vallejo equivelant). It took a couple of thin coats to get it even. The nob on the right had a white undercoat and the skin was easier to paint. Then, I liberally used Thrakka Green Wash. Afterwards, I mixed Goblin Green and Sunburst Yellow (or the Vallejo equivelant) and hightlighted.

Weapons: Adeptus Battlegray Foundation paint, Badab Black Wash and then highlight with a lighter gray (Elven Gray, IIRC).

The clothing: Nob on left. White undercoat and liberally using Devlan Mud wash. Yep, that simple.
Nob on right: I can't remember the exact brown, but it was a Vallejo earthy color. Then, Devlan Mud. Go back and do a couple highlights with the brown with a bit of white mixed in.

The biggest thing for me is keeping the paints thin. It helps a lot with the lining of the weapons and bits of armor/clothing.

Hope this helps.

Things have been going a bit slow, but I've completed two more Nobz for my Deff Skulls. I have to say I really like the new plastic Nobz boxset. There are lots of little details to add to models and for kitbashing with others. The Ork range is becoming so varied now, it's a lot like the Space Marine range. Hope you like the pics. Sorry about them being a bit dark.

Those are very well painted orks. I usually don't like the Deff Skulls blue with green paint job, but those look nice.

"I.. I know my time has come" Tethesis said with a gasp, a torrent of blood flowing from his lips.
"No! Hang on brother!!" Altharius could feel the warmth slip away from his dear sibling's hands

Tethesis's reached out his bloodied arm to Altharius's face.
"I..I have one final request"
Altharius leaned close to listen, tears welling in his once bright eyes.
"make sure th..they put my soulstone in a tank... it'll be... real fethin' cool"
"Yes, you're gonna be the most fethin' cool tank!!" burning hot tears streaked down Altharius's face, as he held his brother's soul in his grasp.

Thanks. I've tried to add touches of blue so folks would recognize it as Deff Skullz, but not put too much blue on the models.

Pretty good, one of the first nob's I've actually seen with the metal faceplate and Buzz-saw hand. Nice painting.

I give a lot of credit to the new Nob boxset which the buzz saw and metal face plate come from. Great boxset to make unique models without even having to convert.

I've gotten a couple of close ups. So far, I've been able to update 18 Boyz and 4 Nobz. Once I can get through my squad of Nobz, I'll probably to to the Lootas for updating.

This is the best example of NMM I've ever seen that doesn't make me think *Eugh* or *Poser* but instead makes me think *Wow, these look better than metallic paints!!!*

These are probably some of the best painted Orks on the internet at the moment.

Wow. Thanks for the complements. I've been busy, but I'm close to getting my Painboy done. Hopefully, I'll have time this weekend to get my Nob unit completed.

Well, I've managed to get the Painboy completed (minus the base). Figured I'd post it to show how he turned out. I don't like the model so much and this is my one gripe about the Nob boxset. They should have included bits to make a plastic Painboy.

gorgeous painboy!!!
love all the colours on him
thanks it even gave me an idea on my own painboy!

btw if you wanted to make a plastic painboy (me personnally thinking they should be much bigger) you could try using the buzzsaw arm that came in the Nobz box and convert some sort of Painboy!

thats my plan anyway i figure it may come out better than this model

but any way wonderful paint job and i cant wait to see the rest of the army!!!
