Hi everyone,

I have painted my chaos warriors a gold/brass color with red details. I need suggestions on what color or colors to use on the base to make the minis standout. I painted the bases white and don't like it, help.

Thanks

Did you flock/add sand, gravel etc to your bases?

Use black, it doesnt interefere with other colors and easy to cover up messy spots.

glue some sand to the base using white glue. Let it get nice and dry, then paint over it with scorched brown, then drybrush just the sand itself with bleached bone, then glue small clumps of static grass to the base.

altrernately you can paint the sand black and drybrush it with codex grey

Ok,your minis look good, the bases..not so much,I would paint 'em back to black, flock them and then trim them with a scorched brown or other suitable shade.

Thanks for the ideas. I will try Shep's ideas. I really hate static grass, but I will try.

Hello,a bit of radical thinking.
1) Aquamarine
2) Indigo
I've got St Celestine drybrushed in a similar colour to yours, trust
me when I say a black base does not work.It looks flat.
I would stay away from the dark/light spectrum and go for a
colour in the blue spectrum, aquamarine would be perfect. The
closest in the GW paints would be Hawk Turquoise but I'd add
some ultramarines blue to it.If you use the red spectrum I
don't think the model would stand out.

take some of the gw snow and spinkle it over some white glue or use it as static grass...
take sand on the bases and then paint schorced brown, bleached bone drybrush, very light drybrush of skull whiteand then add the snow in random spots all over the bases.

I have several painters from the my area of the world tell me to use a sand the base, then paint the sand bright like blue ice color, then dry brush lightly over with a white., then add a little snow.

Nothing wrong with statis grass, just clump it in with stones and other stuff and dry brush it with yellow...
