It has been bugging me that I never really had a proper place/setup for all my painting and modeling work. My last desk looked like a disaster as a result of my GW hobby.

I have had a look at GW's paint station, but with the price tag, and the fact that it doesn't really fulfill all my needs I decided to skip on that one.

While I'm still waiting for my foundation paint set to arrive in the mail, I decided to have a go at making a paint station for myself.

Requirements as follows:

The station
- must utilize all the available space on my desk : approx 70x50cm
- must provide holders for paint pots, brushes/sculpting tools and at least one water container
- should have space for setting aside figures while waiting for them to dry or while working on other things
- should have small compartments for storing other tools, materials and small projects
- must be movable, e.g. it should be possible to remove and setup the station without too much hazzle

After messing around in Visio I came up with this

I had some 6mm MDF sheets and some 5mm masonite (?) floortiles/sheets lying around from previous projects so no shopping required.

A layer of thick flexible plastic sheet was glued to the bottom of the paint station to prevent it from scratching the desk and the whole thing was painted, sans the work area.

The whole project probably took about a days work so it would have been a lot cheaper just to buy one. Sometimes you just do things ... because you can!

Love it! Living in a townhouse with somewhat limited space, I really need to put together something like that. Would really make life alot easier. Great job.
