Hey all thought I'd post some pictures of my Orks. I recently decided to try my hand at some 40k with the release of the second wave of Orks. The image of a large warband of orks on bikes and trukks really stood out to me so I grabbed the ork battleforce and the new ork nobz box and started assembling and cleaning the models.

Here's some pictures of what's completed and painted so far:

Here is a poor camera shot of the two squads of boyz completed

This squad is 12 boyz in size and will eventually have a trukk to ride around in. They're pretty much all in the standard shooting pose but I've added some extra bitz and shoulder pads with some plasticard.

This is the second squad of 12 boyz, I've converted them all into running poses with choppas and sluggas as if they're jumping off their trukk and running into combat.

Here's a few close up pictures of the boyz:

Here's the nob leader, I've used the nob models in the boyz squads as I liked how much bigger they are to the one you can make in the boyz boxset.

Here's some close ups of the second squad of boyz:

The nob leader of the second squad of boyz. I did smaller checks on his shoulder pad. I've added some dags to the choppa's of the boyz in this squad.

"Waaaggh!!!" One of my favourite boyz I've converted.

Some more boyz, can kind of see the dags a bit better on the left choppa.

Some close ups of the first bike I painted, some minor conversions on this one but not to many

The second bike is probably my favourite so far. The idea behind it is some grots stole one of the boyz bikes since they wanted to join in the fun.

Those are some amazing models! I demand to know your technique!

Whoops, I thought you were done- mods can delete this post if necessary.

The third bike "flamer bike" is probably the most heavily converted and another of my favourites. The idea behind this conversion is this ork is obsessed with flames and thinks slapping a flamer on his bike with all the fuel tanks is a brilliant idea. Little does he realize is as his speeding forward the flames would come back over him igniting his fuel tanks. I have this image of him zooming along pressing down the fire button and becoming a speeding fireball explosion. I also like the fuel tank upfront in prime positon to catch a bullet or two.

Now we get to what I'm currently working on:

Here's a group shot of what I've done so far

Here's my WIP warboss from AOBR, a few minor conversions done on him. The head has been titled so he's looking down the pointing claw. The claw has a buzzsaw added and some spikes on the sides(Idea from the newest White Dwarf). The gun is the biggest conversion from the loota/burner box with bits and pieces added. Lastly the rock he's standing on is from the chaos terminator lord set.

Here's the warboss's ammo grot

My 4th Biker Boy only few tiny conversions on this one. I like how for some reason the bike looks longer.

A different angle

Lastly here's a converted AOBR boy. I was trying to get a diving shooting pose but it wasn't too successful. It looks more like he's shooting and falling back.

A different angle, maybe he's drunk on Fungus beer

Two more converted AOBR boyz ready for a spray paint. I'm also slowly putting together the first trukk of the army so I'll post some pictures of that when I do some more on it.

After a long break (in real life) from the orks I finally started painting the warboss. Not much done so far. A basecoat of orkhide shade and a wash of badab black followed by orkhide shade on everything but the recesses. I've started alot darker on the warboss but the highlighting will go up through the same highlight stages as the rest of the boyz.

Whew we finally get up to where I'm currently at

More work done on the skin of the warboss. It's pretty much done apart from a bit here and there. Next up will be the inside of the mouth and teeth.

A great earthy tone there; very natural, and the squads look very bonded. Nice to see some Orks without loud colours.

I really should be spending my time more constructively.

A bit more done on the warboss last night. The inside of the mouth is pretty much done except the teeth. I may give it another wash of badab black and a gloss varnish coat to give it a wet look. I've started work on the paints and backpack leather but lots more highlighting to go.

Absolutely incredible. I'd never have thought ork boys in uniform would look, well, orky. But you have really pulled off a great scheme. I love the metal look on your bikes, any chance of a tutorial? Keep this up and I may be forced to restart the repainting of my orks (after finding your blog, I feel my 4 hours of painting today were wasted ).

Some more work on the warboss. I've finished off the pants and leather backpack. I ended up giving the mouth a wash of badab black. I've also put the basecoat of skin and a wash of badab black on the ammo grot and 4th biker.

Tiny update with no pictures. More work done on the warboss basecoat for the black areas, shirt and shoes. Basecoast was a mix of 1 part kommando khaki to 3 parts chaos black. This was followed by a wash of devan mud. I've also done some work on the ammo grot and biker with a rehighlight of the base skin colour of knarloc green after the devan mud wash. Also thanks for all the comments guys really keeps me motivated to keep up the painting

Deff Dread red Edition yep that is the buzzsaw from the nob kit

guynamedFleck I'll probably post up a painting tutorial when I start work on the converted AOBR boyz

Gutteridge I'm going to be adding alot of trukks, bikes and buggies to my army I want to have most if not all the boyz in a transport of some sort. I've also got the forgeworld Biker Warboss and nobs waiting in the wings for assembling and painting

Anti-Mag Thanks that's the look I was going for a very dirty/grungy army. Originally it was going to be a speek freak colour scheme hehe but I painted up the first biker and in the test colour scheme and knew that's the way I wanted to go. Throughout the process there's been many times i've debated adding a panel or two of paint chipped metal in various colours to add a bit of variety to the models (This may still happen when I get to the trukks etc)

Once again more work on the warboss, although this time the pictures don't show the black to well. All the black areas have been completed. I used a mix of chaos black and kommando khaki highlighting it up by adding more kommando khaki. Then a wash of devan mud to tone it all down. A basecoat of scorched brown has been done on all the teeth and claws ready to be highlighted up. Finally the skulls have been done. They are charadon granite highlighting up through bleached bone with a final highlight of skull white and a wash of devan mud to blend it all together.

SUPER CLOSE UP! (and now I see I missed a bit of scorched brown on one of the teeth )

I really like your warboss conversion. The head tilt plus the new stance gives him a lot of character. Some of your running ork boys look a bit weird but the ones where you've succeeded look really dynamic! Might try this with some of my boys...

Hey all another small update after a day off from painting. Finished the skin on the ammo grot and the 4th biker as well as starting the base coat of some more of the leather straps on the warboss. I'll probably start work on the 3 converted AOBR boyz trying to do a tutorial on how I paint the boyz as I go.
