I've roamed through a lot of the forums over that couple months looking for ideas on my ork army. I just started warhammer 40k back in feb of this year so let me know what you think of my first conversion. After about 20 minutes of brain storming with my friends and a quick 2 min sketch this is what i've come up with. A space marine dreadnought hacked open and controlled by 3 gretchin sitting on top. I was between buying the AoBR dreadnought to save money but went with the boxset as it was hollow and would be easier to cut open. I would then remove a leg, sensor, and gun to make it look more like it was salvaged by orks. Not realizing the gretchin's legs and torsos are attached i had to hack 1 in half and green stuff him to make him appear to be sitting. The one standing on the flame thrower is glued and pinned in his front foot to the killa kan flame thrower. The gretchin were picked for how they were holding their gun as it look sorta like they were holding a remote. I just had to cut off the gun and bend the middle ones arms inward slightly and angle them and actually just used a paper clip as the control rods. All in all i've spent maybe 2 - 3 hours / day over the span of 4 days working on this. Let me know what you think, going to finish painting it tomorrow and then work on my idea of an eldar war walker conversion. Edit: yes my cutting board is also my spiderman mouse pad.

I really like the basic concept you have here, the only things I could sugest is I belive that the dreadnaught should be a bit more battle damaged & dirty and you should add more orky symbols and markings.
Other that that,very cool.

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

Nice. It could use more orky bitz but it is a great conversion.

Good stuff poor bloke stuck in there being pulled about by idiot grots what an end for a Space Marine Champion!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

After a bit today I'm pretty much finished with this guy. I decided to drill and score some holes in the checks and attach some glyphs as well as 2 boss polls.

yes, they are controlled by the almost dead. It's warriors that fell and weren't quite ready to give up yet even though their bodies were failing. And the guy at my local games workshop store told me it was an awesome idea and i needed to bring it in as soon as i finished.

I think its a bit large for a killa kan.

You should run it as a deffdread.

I also agree that it needs more weathering and some red paint!
