G’day folks

Having started including ‘the 5 melta’ chosen squad in my CSM Black Legion army, I have decided to finally make some interesting Chosen, and wanted to know what people thought of the following idea before committing the cash for them!

Fluff wise, I have a Black Legion headed (ultimately) by Abbaddon, and use a mix of specialist legions supporting my regular CSM squads. As I will use my chosen primarily as tank-hunting sneaky infiltrators/outflankers, I wanted something a little different to my regular army, and thought about a specialist squad of Alpha Legion:

Firstly, start with a pack of 5 robed Dark Angel Veterans -

Maybe do some head/swaps, use the Chaos backpacks, throw on some spikes & skulls etc to get things looking chaosy enough.
Then, committing to some Alpha Legion shoulder pads (they come in packs of 10, leaving me with 5 spare for a different squad in the grim dark future– maybe armed with flamers etc).

Then, pick up one of the very recently advertised meltagun packs & include.

What do does Dakka Dakka think? Reasonable approach?

Also, colour scheme suggestion – I like to stick to the cannon schemes (particularly if they are supposed to represent a specific named legion), so thought the amour should be standard ‘blue/green’ as per this example:
(not mine, just an example I found on the innawebs)

What about the robes? Was thinking a bright ‘aquamarine green’, with (gulp) a freehand (oohhh – scary – for me anyway!) hydra/3 headed snake symbol.

This plan is still draft, but I am interested in people’s opinion, as Ive been struggling with a way to substantially differentiate my Chosen from my regular guys.

Thanks for reading this!

Cheers

I think it's a great plan, and a simple one too. A dark blue would also look good on the robes. Seeing how they're a Chosen Squad, you could also go further and give each his own robe design to kind of personalize them and make them feel even more like your ultimate badass squad.

I'm on boat with this, though I wouldn't go for the shoulder pads, but I'm just a cheap-o.

I'd say go for it. It's the same thing I did, although I've only managed to finish one model as of yet. You'll end up with something like this:

Looks great! Are you doing a full squad? Some Chaos Space Marines get chosen for their ability to catch bullets.

I have thought of doing more than just the 5 base marines, cos If I get the shoulderpads I will have 10...

If I can get them looking like Mr Manson's, I may do a whole army!
