Slaanesh Veteran Marine with Tentacles

I was browsing through the Chaos codex the other day and stumbled upon Lucius, and his OP wargear. So i decided to feild him with my squad of NM and a Slaan Sorc.

Needless to say they owned every SM squad they crossed. The combination works like this, lash into formation, double Doom Siren plus 14 Sonic Blaster shots, hardly anything will survive barring Termies, Honor Guard, anything 2+, etc.

My question to you humble Dakka members is: Does this seem like a viable and competitive unit to feild? and is too cheesy? What are your opinions about it?

REPENT for tommorrow you DIE!!!!

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

Lucius is basically built as an anti SM duel character. I'm not surprised really. His wargear is tuned to give him the edge against the (normally) good but not great marine models. Against hordes, he suffers due to his lack of attacks and "just a power weapon" weapon. But he will still cause some casualties with the shrieking soul armor.

The noise marines causing a french crudton of damage is just what they do though.

If it works, go for it! Just don't expect him to last against certain things, especially high toughness MC's and Meganobs.

Dakka. You need more of it. No exceptions.

What are you talking about? They're Space Marines, which are heroic. They need to be able to do all the heroic stuff. They fight aliens and don't afraid of anything. -Orkeosarus

Lucius loses a lot of viability from being S4. He's more of a bully character; capable of PWNing crap that isn't supposed to be a toe-to-toe fighter, but failing to stand up to dedicated assault units.

I think you're on the right track with Noise Marines and Lash, but the list isn't significantly added to by taking Lucius. He doesn't take much away, but he doesn't add much.

Lucius adds a second DS to a squad. Thats about it. Lashing into formation works just as well with oblits firing Plasma Cannons at SMs. And works from farther out. NMs can provide a follow up CC mop up, though.

At least he's one of the cheaper characters in the book, if that means anything to you.
