Question came up when I was using the Grotzookas this weekend. How do you resolve a Heavy 2 blast weapon. Do you first pick a model then resolve both shots on that same model or do you pick a model resolve one shot, then pick another model to resolve the second shot on?

The eye of terror.

You resolve the blasts individually for determining the number of hits that they each cause (though they would be put on the same model: the one that allows you to hit the most baddies).

Then, after you roll the scatter dice for each blast and determine the number of hits you cause, you roll to wound.

Why did the berzerker cross the road?

Its a tricky one.. but im a fan over multiple small blast markers over singular big ones.

The follow are the areas of the blast and large blast marker templates.

One blast marker = 22.2" squared (inches squared)

One large blast marker = 61.6" squared

So while two blast markers double up to equal 44.4"(2); you have to also take into account the fact that now models only partially covered are hit so in terms of Circumference (the entire outside egde of a cirle) which comes to

One blast marker = 18.8"

One large blast marker = 31.4"

So doubled up the small blast marker comes up trumps.

Now, finally, when you take into account that you'll more likely hit with atleast one blast template (out of more than one) compared to the one-chance-per-shooting of a singular large blast marker.. you'll get more consistent (and averagely larger) amount of hits(I think..). So this is what makes units like Deathspitter Tyranid warriors and Leman Russ Executioner tanks so great.

Ha, sorry to go on.

That is true for template weapons (place the template so it covers as many enemy models as possible but without touching any friendly models.) For blast and large blast, it just needs to be placed so that the hole in the center is over the base on an enemy model (or the hull) so for multiple blasts, you could place the 1st over one model's base and the next over a different model's base, so long as they are both in the same unit. You colud place multiple blast markers over different area of a vehicle's hull as well. It depends on how you feel your scatter roll is going to hit. So long as the center hole is within the weapon's range and all shots are targeted on the same unit, it's ok.

Correct!

I'm still not sure which way is up...

So both blast templates are resolves with their own scatter die roll, this part I get. But do they both originating from the same spot and resolved at the same time?

Consider these three different scenarios

Do I...

1) place a blast template over 1 model
2) role scatter die
3) roll for wounds
4) opponent rolls any saves and removes models
5) role scatter die for second blast template originating from the same spot as the first template
6) roll for wounds
7) opponent rolls any saves and removes models

or do I....

1) place a blast template over 1 model
2) role scatter die
3) roll for wounds
4) opponent rolls any saves and removes models
5) place 2nd blast template over a new model (same squad)
6) role scatter die
7) roll for wounds
8) opponent rolls any saves and removes models

or do I....

1) place a blast template over 1 model
2) place 2nd blast template over a different model (same squad)
2) make 1 scatter die for each template
3) roll for wounds
4) opponent rolls any saves and removes models

Which scenario is correct?
