Now this is just an Idea that was bounced around with me and my friend. We were talking Salamanders and Fire Weapons, Napalm, and Melta weapons. Eric, my friend that spawned this evil idea, said how about some ice weapons lol. saying jokingly I took his seriously.

!!!NOW just so everyone knows before I go any further into this, I play Second Edition, so the rules will be based as such!!!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Cryo-Pistol
Range- (Hand flamer Template) STR- (4) DAM- (1) SvMod- (-2) Special- (Models hit with the Cryo-Pistol that save are trapped and cannot move next turn, The Cryo-Pistol freezes the gyros and the hydraulics, or muscle tissue and living matter in a layer of ice)

...

That is what I have so far, I am going to work on a Cryo-Gun, Heavy Cryo-gun, and something like a Multi-Melta Styled Cryo weapon... just something I am batting around.

If I posted this in the wrong thread I am sorry and could a [MOD] please move it to the right thread ^__^

thanks,
Zein

No feed back yet... well I didn't expect there to be lol i mean who on here actually plays second edition besides me... probably no one =D

However I will persevere and make the next two cryogenic weapons. I wanted to make a Table but could not find a way to make on the Threads Board

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Cryo-Gun

[Range]_______ [STR] [DAM] [Special]
Flamer Template__[4]___[1]__See Below

Special - Models hit by the Cry-Gun that are wounded cannot move on the next turn, the following turn they may only walk, on the third turn they may move as normal.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Heavy Cryo-Gun

[Range]_____________ [STR] [DAM] [Special]
Heavy Flamer Template__[5]___[D3]__See Below

Special - Models hit by the Heavy Cryo-Gun are literally frozen solid. Roll a D6, on a 1-4 the model is not frozen entierly and may not next turn, and may only run the following, and may move as normal on the third. 5-6 the model is frozen in a solid, any further shots at this model risk shattering them. Any subsequent hits on this model, not inflicted by another Cryo Weapon, Multi-/Melta, Heavy/Hand/Flamer, will kill the model outright on a Roll to wound of 6, regardless of the amount of wounds the model has. On the players turn he can attempt to free himself, Roll a D6+STR, a roll of 10 will free the model in question, a roll of 6 will always free himself, a Roll of one will always Fail. Every time your turn comes back roll on a D6, 1-4 the ice has melted, 5-6 the model is still frozen.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

... Well that is what I have so far, I am working on a Table to introduce for the "Mutli-Melta" Styled Cryogenic Weapon, it is going to be a funny one. To all who read this and have neglected to read what I have stated above, this is based on Second Edition... !!! S-E-C-O-N-D E-D-I-T-I-O-N !!!...that is with a number 2... not insult intelligence, just some people are... more "thick" than others...

If you would like me to try and make a 4-5th Edition rule set or would like to try to make them 4-5th Edition, please let me know, and I will try my best ^__^ I hope anyone who reads this enjoys it.

Thank you all,
Zein

I can honestly say I have never played it. I can play other Rule editions, but... all my friends and gaming buddies play 2nd edition so I just cope and play second, and I have grown accustomed to it.

Cryo-gun.
wave mode: Template S4 Ap3 Assault 1, Cryo.

concentrated: 24" S4 Ap3 Rapid-fire, Cryo

Heavy Cryo-gun.
wave mode: Template S5 AP2 Assault 1, Cryo.
OR
concentrated: 24" S5 AP2 Heavy 2, Cryo.

The cryo-gun and heavy-cryo gun may fire in either wave mode or concentrated mode, using the appropriate profile.

Yea, I am just way too lazy to buy the new rule sets so I download the PDFs, but all my friends that I play with are in their 30s to 40s and they are kind of set in their ways. The only shop close to me to play with anyone else it like.... 2 hours away.

HAHA I like that. Thanks for the help there Revelator ^__^ I have Two more weapons coming up, Mass Cryogenic Projector, aka(M.C.P) the Polar Opposite of a Multi-Melta and the Cryo-Grenade, which I plan to have it make difficult terrain in a blast area.

Proabably have it instead of 1D6 turns of no movement. A test against their strength or something like that. D3+ the ammount of turns, if it is equal to or more than their stregth they can move again, but will only move 1D6 per movement for D3-1 turns, and cannot run in those turns as well. I'd keep the rest of the rules as is for it though, that seems fine.

I presume that you are referring to the 4/5 ed rule set right?

like it! i'm a huge fan of 2nd ed (who wouldn't like to field 20 space wolf terminators?) and this sounds like fun! i take it some inspiration came from the long departed but dearly missed web gun?

WELL, to be honest, the inspiration was just a random conversation me and my friend were talking about. We were talking about the Campaign we are working on, and some how that lead to a Ork Warboss finding all 5 chaos artifacts and becoming a Ork Daemon Prince HAHAHA Funnier every time I say it and that lead to a Legion or Chapter, of Chaos Space Marines or Loyal Marines, that live on an Ice Planet. What kind of Special rules could they have, what kind of Armor would they wear. SO, we come up with the Fallen Phoenix Space Marine Chapter, a Lost but now found Chapter, taking the place of one of the missing Primarchs. That lead to the Wargear, which lead to the Cryo weapons.

The only reason it is in second edition, is because my friend is going on 42 and all he has ever played was 2nd Ed. and he never works 14 hour days at work and never leaves his house. so he is kind of stuck in his ways, I have tried to get him to under stand Kill Teams... but that was a lost cause... He despises the fact that they cut all the stats of the characters down. He plays chaos, he likes to see Kharn have a WS of 9 not of 6. He likes the Greater Deamons to have Diversity in their respective Stats.

I have BARELY been able to beat Deep Strike into his head... but he is coming around to it. I, myself, have never played a 4/5 Ed. match because I do not feel like driving 2 hours to have 45 mins - 1 hour of game play. However, I have read the rule book, and I do understand it ^___^

<____< sorry for the life story XD

Yep, I was suggesting new rules for 5th. I don't know if any similar rules ever existed for the older versions.

Nope nothing ever existed in 2nd Edition that used Ice, There was a Web Gun that Space Marines had,

Wargear Second Edition wrote:Web Pistol
_Range ____ To Hit
Short Long Short Long Str Dmg Save Mod Armor Pen Special
0-4 __ 4-8 _ - ___ -1 _ - __- _____- ______ - ____ Close combat

Targets hit by a webpistol may do nothing until released using special web solvent carried by all troops
using web guns. At the start of their turn, models enmeshed in webs may attempt to free themselves—roll a
D6, and add the trapped model’s Strength. If the score is 9 or more, the model is freed and may move and
act normally thereafter. Otherwise, it must immediately make its normal saving throw or sustain 1 wound.
Vehicles cannot be webbed.

The rules for webbers would be what I would use for simplicity's sake. There's the web pistol, webber, and heavy webber for variety, and I believe there was a web grenade as well.

Old dogs can learn new tricks when they want to - I'm proof of that. I haven't played since 2nd ed either and after a very long hiatus have returned to 5th edition. The change is a dramatic one, but 5th is streamlined and makes for a faster game than 2nd. Unit tactics are generally what make or break a game as opposed to the characters and wargear they take. However, if your friend isn't willing to try something as small and easy as Kill Team, keep playing 2nd ed!

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

My friends and the rest of the gaming circle has the same reply to that, "If you want a faster game play Warhammer Fantasy" I have given up. Yesterday, I tried to incorporate the 4th Edition, Hand to Hand Style to the Mix of 2nd and they would not have it... *Shrugs* I given up...

Tomorrow, "M.C.P" and a Tank Variant of the Cryo Weapons, if anyone has a better name than Cryo <-- Let me know it just seams rigged XD

Hey 2nd edition isn't that bad. I own most of those books, haven't played them in years of course, because its been hard finding players in the one horse towns i've lived in. Anyway, I think 5th edition is well written and all, but frankly it kills my creative spirit with the complexity of some of the rules. RT/2nd was nicely customizable and while step forwards have been made the spirit of the game has changed a bit.

anyway back to topic. I like your weapon concepts. super coolent weapons are a great concept. being less volentile than flamable materials used for flamers, cheaper than the technological components used in grav-guns, and generally less complex to produce than the chemicals used in webbers they would be a practical weapon system for some armies. in particular i'd say devestator squads and similar heavy hitters could use them quite affectively to slow down assaulting opponents. Similarly landspeeders and jetbikes mounted with the cryonic equivelent of smoke launchers could severely hamper an opponent's movement abilities. A dreadnaught fitted with a cryonic feild could

as for names, glacialis is latin for ice and gelidus is latin for frost. Ork's would likely call them Chilla's or Frosta's. For Eldar terms i'd likely pull out some other influences like Ice in Icelandic which is háll or finish for ice which is hyinen or if you want more traditional, IE english maybe a "Heimal Streamer." hell Heimal is a good word all around, heimal-gun, heimal-cannon, mass hiemal projector (MHP) I like that one for some reason. Glacias Pattern Combi-Melta... that sounds fun an icecube melta gun is a grea idea.

keep it up man.
