I've been slowly building up a bloodaxe army for a while and have wanted to build a suitable 'Kommissar' type Waaaghboss to lead them. I was looking at how to sculpt a greatcoat and hat from greenstuff (which I've never used before) and then trying to ponder a suitable sized model to use, on then looking at the existing ork range I finally twigged that Kaptin Badrukk has a greatcoat and Boss Zagstruk has the hat and the face I wanted for the Kommissar. Today I strolled over to GW and picked them both up, cleaned up the models and kitbashed, also using a PK from the Nobs boxed set and the chainblade from an AoBR boy.

Apologies for the picture quality, I'm still getting my head around detail shots on the camera (which is a coolpix p50 if anyone has advice)







If anyone has ideas for a suitably Bloodaxe back banner pole, let me know.

Very nice. There's a Blood Axe bosspole on the Nobz sprue, if you haven't tried that yet.

Thanks, I think that bosspole might be too small for him, I'm thinking something suitably imposing but mimicking imperial in some way...dunno...

Backbanner ideas: The nobz box has the icon and a pole in it.
The squigpole should look good.


Failing that, maybe using 2 spare axes to make the top section, then make a pole for it and add some decorations?

You could cut 2 axes off and either cross them on top of a bosspole, or you could try connecting them like ( || ) ... just pretend that was a decent diagram... like back to back if you can figure out what the hell im
talking about or you could use a marines cross bar that goes on top of the backpacks and hang something, from that like the axes or some skulls or if you can find chain thin enough you can hang heads from it i've seen it and it looks pretty cool.

A quick point actually after a sudden thought

Bloodaxes pride themselves on swift stealth attacks, working much like an elite unit.
would a giant fething pole give him away pretty easily?

Maybe something else to signify the bosspole? (even a commissars head on a short spike?)

Also,you could always make a boss pole totem out of some plasticard,the one in the above pic.would look great.

If you're good with freehand you could copy Yarrick's banner but with the roles reversed.

Now that's a grand idea, I don't have any skill however and it's been about 11 years since I last painted a mini (badly). So we'll see how I get on with some basic AoBR boyz to get me into the swing abit first.

Might go with an axe based heads trophy rack thing.
