I have been working on my truescale wolves... and I am in a bit of a dilemma. The picture below is my master\test figure of a Grey Hunter. I think he needs some more bulk on from the waist up, but I am not sure what I should add to bulk him out. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or even some comments about the project so far?

Sorry about the image quality, it was a quick snapshot taken on the top of my computer desk lol.

I did not realize how dark that picture was.. here are 2 with decent lighting and focus.

I am going to pop him off of his base and bring his center of gravity over the base more.

honestly I think he looks great. I understand you want bigger and a lot of people do but you are also trying to keep him on a normal 28mm base which most people don't. Wouldnt change a thing just post some more pics of the army as you build and paint it thats all.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

One thing you can do is add a disk of styrene between his wrist and forearm, and between his shoulder and upper arm to lengethen them a bit. As it stands, his arms look a little short.

Otherwise he doesn't look that bad at all. I presume you are going to smooth out his right knee a bit and add some details.

Could you post a comparison picture with him and another marine?

I had just about given up on the whole true-scale theme for this army because I was stuck on a few places (waste looks waspy, stuck on how to beef up the chest w\o making him look out of scale again, etc). I think that I have some solutions for the places where I was iffy, and am going to be working on him tonight to see if I can fix it.

As to the comments:
Arms: regular SM arms have always seemed a little… ape-like to me. I will look at it closer though and make sure it is not too short. I might add the spacer on the shoulders though, that could add some shoulder width and bulk the top of the model up.
Right Knee: I was going to add my great company marking there, but was sidetracked at the last minute. Will pop that part off tonight and see if I can come up with something less.. unfinished.. lol
Base: I kept him on a 25mm base to avoid charges of “bigger bases for more CC umpth” and so that everything is 100% GW. In truth, if I was not intending to eventually take this army to larger tourys, I would probably grab some 30mm scenic bases like the ones used in Warmachine.
More and Painted: after I work out the kinks on this model, I have another 12 marines (8 GH and 5 LF) to go for the first round of the local escalation tournament that prompted this foray into True-scaling. I have to have them all built, painted, and based by Nov 7th, so I have to get cracking if I am going to get them completed. Once I get this figure out of the prototype stage, I will start a project thread in long term projects. I have a 1500 point army planned at this stage, so lots of fun stuff on the horizon.

I think this is the correct image, but since I am at work until 2am this morning I am not 100% sure. Also note, this is before adding green stuff (or even an Arm I think).

Ok finished with the prototype. After working on this figure on and off (and debating the merits of true-scale on and off too) for 2 weeks, my first figure is done. This first figure really pushed my skill envelope with GS and even required that I learn some new techniques. Two of the things that really helped was to get fresh green stuff (my old GS was the GW ribbon and did not seem to be that high of a quality) and to get a set of dedicated sculpting tools (as opposed to the back of paint brushes and dull exacto knives).

Next up is his pack-mates. 4 Long Fangs (1 Las cannon and 3 Missile Launchers).

Looking good man! Really like the GS work... Wish I could do it, but then I've never tried lol.

If your thinking th waste is still thin (which the new pics dont particularly look like that) you might be able to add a gernade pack, or something like that around his waste just to add a preceived thickness.

The GS needs a bit of work. Not sure if you are using it or not, but i find that petroleum jelly works wonders for sculpting GS. Instead of dipping in water, just use a very light coat of the jelly to smooth and move. Also, be sure you give it a bit of time to set before you start working at it, or a lot of details will drop out as it settles and cures.

Just some tips I hope help, because I love the project and the direction its heading.

Keep at it.

Nice greensuff work. Could be better, but its better than mine.
I like the slightly added height. Pretty cool.

When you call an intimate moment with your partner "the Assault Phase"

Is that followed by a pile-in move?

That brings a whole new meaning to the term "Hit and Run"

Can that be following a deep strike, or do you have to wait until the next round?

Slightly added lol. You realize that in scale if a normal SM is suppose to be just over 7 feet tall, that his new one is more like 9.
Anywho, truscale marines make me smile. They almost always look cool. Its looking really good man. And your GS is pretty damn good.

Been sick as a dog, so work on these guys has been slower than hoped for. Here are some new WIP shots. GS still looks a little rough, and the Grey Hunters need work still, but it is shaping up.
