From the feedback on my related post in the Tactics section and from my own musings I have come up with a virtually entirely blast template based IG army. Enjoy; HQ: CCS +Master of Ordnance +Lascannon * +Regimental standard +Vox = 120 Troops: Infantry Platoon 1x PCS +Mortar +2x GL's 3x Infantry Squads +3x Mortars +3x GL's +1x Vox = 230 Veteran Squad +Demolitions +1x Heavy Flamer +2x Flamer = 130 Fast attack: 2x Devildog +Hull Heavy Flamer (HHF) = 240 1x Devildog +HHF = 120 Valkyrie +MRP = 130 Heavy Support: Leman Russ Eradicator + HHF = 160 Leman Russ Executioner +HHF = 190 Manticore +HHF = 160 = 1480 20pts remaining. Thoughts on where to spend that? Camo netting for a manticore? C&C on the list in general? Thanks P.s * = The lascannon is just a way better match for a MoO, compared to a mortor annd it works better with the order the CCS will be giving itself!

Mortars on infantry don't seem like a great idea to me, but if you're going for blast templates, then sure.
Why flamers on the vets? That's the one weapon that doesn't make use of their best asset - their BS4. Try this: instead, give a PCS 4 flamers and stick them in a chimera as your antihorde unit, and give the vets some melta guns so that you have some antitank that's essentially guaranteed a kill.
Other sections seem fine, but I think you should replace the Executioner with a Plasma Sponson Leman Russ. The points cost is the same, and I'd rather have a battlecannon shot than a plasma shot, and you're better protected against Gets Hot and Weapon Destroyed results. I'm also not really a fan of the Eradicator (I think AP3 is more useful, considering how many MEQs are out there), maybe get a pair of Hydras or a second standard Russ with plasma sponsons if you can find the points.
For 20 points, maybe take camo cloaks for the command squad so you can intersparse them with your infantry and give them a 3+ cover save? Of course, that'll cause problem with the lascannon so you'd probably have to give that up for a mortar.

The lascannon and the MoO can be fired from the open whilst the remainder of the squad hides within the infantry squad (50%+) but this makes me vunerbale to blast templates. There will always be cover/ruins to deploy within so that could well be a good buy.
Why the flamers? One of their other great abilities; other than BS4; is the ability to field awesome weapons and two flamers, a heavy flamer and a possible demolition charge will ruin any kind of squad like nothing else. They work really well within the Valkyrie, giving me mobile troops and I need the second troop choice, compared to the fourth infantry squad. The flamer PCS is fine and well, but requires more points for an effect I can get better with the vets & valkyrie.
Gets Hot! Doesnt effect vehicles. I prefer the ability to move 6" for most of the game to get a good angle on my shots as well as being able to shoot at one squad with my full compliment of templates whilst keeping my armour facing the most dangerous anti-armour threat.
I am a fan of the Eradicator. It is simply lethal. Yes, there are lots of MEQ's out there and this weapon wounds them on 2's. More importantly, there are also lots of T3-4 4+ save troops (some of whom have even better cover saves) and this weapon system simply clears entire squads reguardless of where they are. All you need is to see one model. Its also a AV14 leman russ!

You know after looking at the IG codex and seeing some of these lists how can anyone not say the IG is the strongest army? I mean if an IG dude is on he can kill my csm, sw or eldar before the end of three . As a guy who mostly plays cc, I have to say this army has become the one in tournaments I wanna avoid.

I agree on the eradicator. Yes there are alot of MEQ's around, but theres even more cover saves that need to be ignored. Think about it, top armies right now are Imp Guard, Orks, and Space Wolves. Thats 1 out of 3 MEQ's, and 2 out of 3 armies that make extensive use of cover saves. So, I agree with the choice of the eradicator.

Gets Hot does affect vehicles, just check the rulebook. You have to roll a die for each plasma weapon, and on a roll of a 1 it won't fire (though the tank suffers no damage).
It just seems like a waste for me to get BS4 flamers when you can get (more) flamers with BS3.
Good thinking with the lascannon, the possibility of doing that just completely slipped my mind for some reason.

About the Veterans, here's the thing: Veterans can do ANYTHING! if you give them the right payload.
If you want to use them as anti-tank do it.
If you want to use them as anti-horde do it.
I use my vets as my armor hunters.
Also, the Executioner Cannon doesnt suffer from the "GETS HOT!" rule. Regular plasma cannons do though.
And don't forget the Executioner Plasma cannonis Heavy 3!!!

not entirely true to my knowledge: vehicles sport sophisticated cooling technologies that handheld counterparts do not and thus do not suffer from : "GETS HOT!", being sponsons?

Entirely wrong. P31 of the BGB & I quote; BGB p31 wrote:Because of their additional cooling systems, weapons on vehicles are not effected by this rule.
Now you may want to quote me the sub-section of the rule (Note how it isnt in as large a font) but concider this; When does a vehicle field plasma pistols or plasma guns? It doesnt. It is obviously refering to heavier weapons. Also; the blast-weapons bit (If you really want to ignore its sub-section relation to the rule above) talks about "models" and never mentions vehicles (which has already been addressed). But if you consider that " Gets Hot! and Blast weapons" as part of the entire rule " Gets Hot!" then its fine neways.
The demolitions charge works well with a heavy flamer (which is better than a normal flamer due to AP4 (Much more valuable than one/two str4 ap5 template) and improved strength) and the entire squad gets melta-bombs which, to me, fills my melta-requirement for mobile harassment infantry.

Idk if this was clarified or not but I meant, specifically, the Executioner Plasma Cannon. Normal Plasma Cannon Sponsons suffer from GETS HOT!, though as Razerous says no damage is done to the vehicle.

That too, The executioner Plasma cannon has its own weapon entry which doesnt include the Gets Hot! rule. I'm simply quoting and reading from the rulebook (P.31) where it states vehicles take no damage. Edit: I tried to play with it; A lack of autocannon's killed me. I couldnt open up rhino's to put my blasty goodness to work!
