I have recently started an ork army and i want to make an awesome looted vehicle as a center piece for it but have no clue where to get started how to or how to do it. I have no problem converting and personalizing models but i've never done anything with a vehicle before. Also i run a nob squad in a truck and i was think of using a looted drop pod turned side ways on a skimmer base for it... again help would be appreciated... can you tell me the tools ill need and post pics of or vehicles so i can get an idea of what i want.

P.S. I also wanna make a kkf big mec, i tried using a zapgun from the battlewagon but it looked like gak... i've never done big modeling stuff before only small little things and poses.. i haven't even used green stuff yet..... I was thinking an ork army could be when i really got into this stuff

Edit: ill start posting pics of my models within a few days... please feel free to critque... my warboss will be first up

Edit 2: i really need help with this come does no one have any suggestions? BTW just finished painting my first 2 models... first models i've ever painted...2 shootas

Looking good for firsties, my first models were horrendous compared to your work. I dig your objective marker.

As for photographing, see if your camera has a macro setting (the symbol is usually a flower or plant of some kind; I think its called macro)... that'll help immensely with getting better up-close and personal shots without fuzzing the detail.

Looking good so far.

Maybe a slightly darker blue for the face... would help to differentiate it from the armour a little. Either use a darker blue, or give it a wash with Devlan Mud to blend it slightly with the rest of the skin.

That definitely looks like a KFF to me. As for names I'm not sure I can be all that helpful, but maybe the random Ork name generator can be? http://www.stevelange.net/orkname.php

As for a looted vehicle, this is a nice use of a drop pod here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/262608.page. If you want to make a looted vehicle the centrepiece of your force, you will need to go for something large for visual and tabletop impact. That narrows your choices down to the landraider and Baneblade families of vehicles. I think the Stormlord would make a fantastic Ork vehicle - it already has a nice bulky superstructure up front, and an open fighting platform at the back - but if you are set of the drop pod, then you could copy the general idea of the post I've linked and use a land raider hull, or do something different again.

If you are keen on a skimmer hull, maybe check out the Falcon. I'm not all that certain on how the drop pod and the Falcon measure up for size, but I'm guessing the model will look top-heavy if you attach the drop pod to where the turret normally goes. Maybe cut the drop pod in half from top to bottom and attach plasticard to where the other half used to sit. I'd then attach the fat end to where the falcon's turret normally sits and then, using a couple of plasticard 'beams', suspend the other end above the opening in the two 'arms' of the Falcon's forward hull. This would mean half a drop pod parallel to half a falcon, if you follow?
