Lately I have been spending every waking hour fleshing out a mighty apocalypse project using what I fondly term as the adversaries system I have planned out two armies around my existing collection.People label this as me being mad and my fellow dakkites are used to the insane ravings of the Boss.But are they truly ready for something of this much of a insane scale at the end I may be dead I may die of inhaling two much Glue/Paint fumes or by the sheer scale of what I am about to undertake is it two much for one man?? yes but being the only hobbyist in my family and indeed my circle of friends I think I am mad enough to undertake this great task!

People on here will know that I collect two main armies one Imperial and one Ork which are both at a sizable points range this afternoon I looked at both armies both are big my brain tugged at me going "NO DONT DO IT DONT EVEN THINK OF IT THATS TOO MUCH PLASTIC GO HAVE A SIT DOWN HAVE A CUP OF TEA FOR CHRISSAKES MAN NO!" but I ignored reason I ignored logic yes I even ignored the fact that the only person who can slighty intimidate me would not be happy by being besieged by yet more plastic men!

So I thought of people or groups that may be amused or horrified by what im about to do or even better will give me their support! and you good people came to mind.I now share with you what I am going to do anyone who has a nervous disposition leave now for the rest of you barf bags are located in either side of the thread and smelling salts.Cast back your memories to the start of the thread now I mentioned the adversaries system that I use I collect Orks I collect Imperium (My own Home Brew Chapter Crimson Ravens and Catachans to be precise) Now I was thinking this needs to be themed and what better way then to theme them with some fictional event in the Warhammer 40k universe this is where I give you the background of a major Imperial World named Chrybdis

Chrybdis 4 lies in the Eastern fringe close enough to many warzones to merit its use as a large industrial forgeworld the main supplier of weaponary to half a dozen warzones spanning 6 sectors the War against the Orks in the empire of Charadon the Tyranids in the Eastern Fringe terrtories the ongoing war of attrition against Chaos near Cadia and the War against Orks on Armageddon plus against Eldar in the Ulyssies and Tau in the Damocles Gulf regions.This makes it of high strategic importance.The surface itself is verdant when many think about Chrybdis they think smoke clogged skies and barren wastes this is not the case it has many verdant forests and rolling mountains a polar ice cap and a southern polar ice cap three continents and rolling Oceans the largest cities are located on the second largest continent the twin hives of Volograd and Petrovgrad the rest of the world is covered in small hamlets apart from the tropics which are located on a continent to the south.Founded just after the Horus Heresy this world was settled and then surveyed mineral rich deposits were found in the oceans and mountains deep core and ore mining are one form of employment on the planet the other being Weapons manufacturing and Enlistment in the local PDF these are risen from the many villages on the second continent the tropic south is said to harbour tribesmen but as of now this is hear say and superstion.

This planet lived in relative prosperity for many centuries that was until the coming of Orkimedies and his Waaaaagh the ork genius was thought dead killed when he jumped to the warp in fact he was lost and gathering the remains of Waaaaghs across the galaxy his main aim was to return to Armageddon and secure victory.Historians view his Waaaagh prosecuted against Chrybdis as a mere excursion to refuel and rearm how wrong historians are this war ground on for almost a decade.Many were lost lives and infrastructure a gross miscalculation of historians the imperium over.It took the might of three full battle companies of various Astartes Chapters and the might of 3 full regiments of Imperial Guard led By Yarrick to break the Waaaaaaghs back.

This is where I intend to collect the entire campaigning force for the Imperium and the entire Ork Waaaaagh of Orkimedes I have already got about half of the Crimson Ravens( My own Chapter) Commitment to the war a unique formation one of their Raven Talon battle companies supported by a Deathkneel Apocolypse formation Plus Ancients and Scout formation (A Raven Talon is a modified battle Company from Apocolypse instead of 10 men tac squads it uses six man hunter killer groups in Razorbacks) the other two Chapters I intend to use are Crimson Fists A full battle company and following reading about Yarricks activities after the 3rd Armageddon War A Crusade Company of Black Templars this in turn will be supported by 3 full companies of Imperial Guard one of Catachans supported by a Sentinel Recon Troop a Company of Armageddon Steel Legion with 13 Chimeras and a Made up Planetary Assault Outfit converted using Bretonnian men at arms as a basis.This will be supported by a armoured assault company of Leman Russ's and a Super Heavy element 2 Baneblades 1 Shadowsword plus Fortress of Arrogance.

for the Orks its laying my hands on every single Greenskin boxset I can in multiples of two and including at least one Apocalypse formation for the Orks perhaps the Green Tide.This epic undertaking will start with me painting what I have left to paint thats a full Ork Army a Platoon of Catachans and Command HQ plus Various Marine elements namely the contents of Assault on Black Reach a Ironclad Sternguard and a Drop pod Plus the Valk.After that is done the real task begins I have set myself a date and a task a massive Apocalypse game August 1st 2010 is my date and deadline come what may I will have armies assembled and painted and the game ready to play.

Now before anyone saids Forgeworld I say no I may include Forgeworld pieces later on but not yet.Now Funnily enough I have the wifes support and shes usually a ardent critic whilst I can I am going to troop on with this so next three off thurs,fri,sat are for painting hardcore of what I already have finalising a Crusade campaign badge for the Imperials and then showcasing what I have painted using a lightbox (See I have Learned) then its down to work to the deadline I will update every three days and then more when I have then holiday to burn to work on the project more the first major purchase will be Christmas for the Marines then the Guard and then the Orks if I can do this and especially on my own it will be a great undertaking one I can be proud of!.

Seriously, I think that the Orks should be Kit-Bashed to hell, as you could probably do about anything with Orks and be cool.

Also, may I suggest using a Datasheet that is not official and not made, though I think it will be great fun.

Feral Orks-
When Orks invade a planet, usually hundereds are left behind, and slowly degenerate into even more barbaric versions of themselves, losing most if not all technological advances the rest of the WAAAAAGH!!! has made. Sometimes if a Warboss is in a good mood he will accept help from the Feral Orks that in turn view him as a god.

Okay, this is basically a small 500-1,000 point force that is comprised of WHFB Orks, and is comprised of a leader, a few infantry units, and some cavalry.

Special Rules
Show im yer tuff, or i'll Stomp ya good! - as long as the WH40K Ork Warboss is in play, all Feral Orks are Stubborn and Fearless.
Ama from da sky! - Feral Orks have a somewhat better save then regular Orks, instead of a 6+ save, they have a 5+ save.
MOVE FASTA - All Feral Orks can move instead of shoot in the shooting phase

Options
You may add a crude Battlewagon to the lot , which can mount a cannon and five shoota boyz on it for 100 pts.

You could also make a Steam powered Stompa, using Looted Stanks.

Indeed that is also a stonking plan as I usually have a lot og bottles and cans laying about....strokes chin hmmmm plan developing.

As for yesterdays plan no go was soooooo tired just monged all day long so painting on main bulk of existing Imperial stuff with start on Thursday I will post up batch pics of what I complete will appreciate a bit of paitence we have until 1st August 2010 lots of time for painting.As I work shift work I will be tired some days I will just want to sleep or spend time with the wife or try to get my fledgling Paranormal group set up with an investigation.

But I will try to get as much as I can done and try to keep the thread rolling.

Sounds like an undertaking of epic proportions, can't wait to see the first pics.

It would be if work didnt interfere with 12 hours of my life am currently looking for something that is 8-9 Hours a day so as I get time in evenings to devote to the myriad of extra curicular activities I have.

Quite a project. I'm wishing you the best of luck with this as I know the dedication needed to see this through. And a 12hr a day job is not helpful

Thread Necromancy I applogise but I just want people to know this project is not dead!! I have roped in my regular opponent and have given him my Orks and Artistic Licence to do whatever he pleases (He is 11 years old after all)

I will still be working on the Imperial side and I will have pics soon this three day off rotation and my Holiday (Thats not being used for Ghosthunting) used for painting

So have faith Dakkites the project is well underway!!

And yea I managed to unload my entire Ork army to my regular opponent suffice to say he is pleased as punch I believe he is already quite well versed on how his Orks should look as he has already done some fantastic conversions for the force already.

I want to focus on the Imperials as I believe two heads are better than one ...I.e one person focuses on one thing the other on the other thing.

Tomorrow I am going to make a start on my Marines that need painting and my Imperial Guard that need painting second 1000pt batch of marines and first 1000pt batch of Imperial Guard maybe more because it includes a Valkyrie.
