Hi, I'm SabrX. Some of you may know me on Warseer. I'm expanding my sphere of influence, colonizing new planets. So now I'll be posting my battle reports on both Warseer and Dakkadakka "and infinity to beyond!" First report has no pictures and is straight text. Second report uses pictures off of a program (that shall not be named). Third and above includes pictures. I already have 6 battle reports under my belt and two more in the works. I hope you enjoy my reports as much as I've enjoyed writing them.

“Inquisitor Wroth, you have crossed the line and committed heresy. Your betrayal of humanity and the Emperor cannot go unpunished. We, the Order of Faith, have come to deliver his divine justice. Surrender, you’re doomed”

Inquisitor Wroth, now governor of Aloudor, trembled with rage after listening to the Vox message. It has been twenty years since his retirement from the Inquisition and appointment to governorship. Utilizing his rich wealth of knowledge and prestige position, he had created a black market trade haven with rogue traders and xenos. His reign lasted for twenty years unnoticed by his Inquisitorial colleagues and the Minostorum. But Lord Inquisitor Antonio had stumbled on Wroth’s little secret after back tracing confiscated Xenos artifacts from a captured rogue trader that had left Aloudor three weeks before. Lord Antonio had sent a spy but failed. Wroth had captured and interrogated the snoop. Inquisitor Lord Antonio, suspecting his plans had gone awry, set out, requisitioning the Black Ship, Eternal, along with the Order of Faith, a minor militant order of Adepta Sororitas.

“Impotent pompous dogs! They dare threaten me with death? After all my years of servitude for the Inquisition, they dare forsake me? What fools they are to think I’ll simply turn myself in knowing my execution awaits. Little do they know, during my long service for the Emperor, I’ve befriended a Raven Guard captain, and he will gladly come to my aid. These imperial dogs cannot match the brute strength and steel of the Adeptus Astartes. Come, your threats do not scare me,” declared Inquisitor Wroth.

“Sister Dianus, a Strike Cruiser orbits the Aloudor. It seems our witty fugitive has made powerful allies”, remarked Lord Inquisitor Antonio. Canoness Dianus marched towards the auspex screen aboard the Black Ship, Eternal. Displayed was a Space Marine Strike Cruiser registered to the Raven Guards. “Have you ordered them to stand down in the presence of your Inquisitorial seal”, inquired Canoness Dianus. “Yes, but they bluntly refuse, proclaiming his innocence. Clearly they’ve been deceived,” concluded Lord Antonio. “Inquisitor Wroth may be resourceful, but he is a fool thinking he can hide behind his Space Marine allies,” grated the Canones. “We will not engage the Raven Guard Battleship, but our objective remains the same. We will capture Inquisitor Wroth and anyone who gets in the way will be crushed. Canoness, if they interfere, punish them for their insolence,” ordered Lord Antonio. “Ave Imperator,” Sister Dianus called back, already headed towards the ship’s chapel.

Inquisitor Wroth exited his hidden escape route, plunging deep into woods behind his palace. In less then two hours, his fortifications had been blown to pieces and his elite guards were crushed under the torrent of bolter and fire. Heavily armored vehicles stormed the gates and Battle Sisters stormed the palace. Inquisitor Wroth raced deeper into the forest headed towards an extraction point heavily guarded by concealed Raven Guards.

In the distance he could hear tunes blasting from the ornate speakers on top of the invader's vehicles. It grew louder and louder, followed by the sounds of engines and metallic treads, closing in on Inquisitor Wroth. An armored wall of tanks smashed through the foliage, only 500 yards from where Inquisitor Wroth stood. “It’s all over,” thought Wroth, “there’s no way I’ll make it in time”.

Suddenly like an answer to a prayer, black angels appeared from the sky, crashing into flanks of the armored convoy the forest erupted with activity. “Vinctorus aut Mortis”, yelled the Assault Marines, as they boosted out of the foliage, charging towards the flank of the armored column. In front of Wroth appeared Terminators, wielding mighty war hammers and giant shields. Following them were three behemoth engines, each loaded with giant cannons. Wroth sighed with relief and retreated behind the Astartes lines.

“Perhaps my luck hasn’t run out yet,” Wroth thought to himself as he waited for extraction, mean while watching the battle unfold.

Played a 2000 points game with my Sisters of Battle versus my opponent’s Raven Guard plus allied Daemonhunter Inquisitor. The mission was annihilation and the deployment was spearhead.

Setting:

The battlefield was setup with forest theme. In the middle were a few LoTR ruins. Top-left of the battlefield was area terrain filled with trees. Bottom-left also had area terrain with trees. Left of it was a few more ruins. Bottom-middle of the board was a hill sloping up towards the board edge.

Deployment:

My opponent won the roll off due to his Inquisitor’s Emperor’s Tarot and decided to go first. He chose the top right quarter for his deployment, setting up a squad of eight Assault Terminators, middle-left, and closest to the twelve inch Spearhead Deployment bubble. Both Vindicators deployed behind the Terminators. His Land Raider Redeemer deployed center-right of his quarter loaded with a squad of scouts with teleport homer. Finally, he places his allied Daemon Hunter Inquisitor far in the top right corner of his quarter, making it difficult for any of my ranged shooting squad from reaching him. He left his other Terminator squad and both Land Speeder Storms in reserves, leaving Shrike attached to Assault Marines infiltrating.

I deployed my forces in my bottom left quarter closest towards the twelve inch bubble. Immolator packed with Dominions deployed top-left of my deployment zone. To the right of my Dominion Immolator, I placed my Rhinos starting with double template plus meltagun SoB squad (Rhino 1), triple template SoB squad (Rhino 2), double template plus meltagun SoB squad (Rhino 3), and triple template SoB squad (Rhino 4). I placed my Canoness and Celestian Retinue Immolator at the end of my Rhino wall, ready to move and intercept the Raven Guard’s Redeemer. All three Exorcists deployed behind my transport vehicle wall in the forest area terrain, safely obscured while still being able to shoot over my vehicles. Lastly, I placed my Seraphim squad + Jump Canoness behind the Rhino 3, ready to support either flank.

After deploying all my forces, my opponent infiltrates Shrike attached to an Assault Marine squad in top left region of the board, 18” from my Dominion Immolator. I failed to seize of the Initiative and the game started with Raven Guards taking first turn.

Turn 1 (Raven Guard):

Terminators marched forward followed by lumbering Vindicators. The Redeemer moved full speed ahead, bent on getting within melta-range of my Exorcists. Shrike and his Assault Marines fired up their jump packs and landed near my Dominion Immolator.

Both Terminator squads moved and ran four inches around the middle ruins, getting closer to my mech forces. One Vindicator halted, took careful aim, and unleashed its Demolisher Cannon at my Dominion Immolator. But strong winds altered the shot, scattering next to the Immolator. A large explosion ripped the Immolators tread, immobilizing it. The second Vindicator targets Rhino 1, next to the crippled Dominion Immolator, but its salvo only shakes the light transport. Mean while, the Redeemer drove over a pot hole, completely missing with its multi-melta at one of the Exorcists. Shrike’s squad unleashes plasma pistol shots at the Dominion Immolator, but only managed to stun and shake it.

Finally Shrike’s Assault Marines pulled out their krak grenades and charged the Dominion Immolator. Despite all krak grenades hitting simultaneously (auto-hit for not moving), none managed to penetrate the Immolator. Shrike sighed, muttering, “must I do everything myself,” and slashed the vehicles with his razor sharp rending claws, which penetrated, and blew up Immolator. Two Dominions, including the Veteran Sister Superior, died in the explosion and three survived thanks to their tough power suits. None of the Assault Marines were injured. Free of the burning wreckage (passed pinning test), the surviving Dominions stood firm, hungry for vengeance.

Turn 1 (Order of Faith):

Dominions crept closer towards the tight knot of Assault Marines, readying to douse them with flamers. Rhino 1 drove forward and disembarked Sisters facing towards the Assault Marines while providing a barrier between the Sisters and the main Raven Guard’s advancing forces. Rhino 2 drove forward and parked behind Rhino 1, also disembarking its occupants near the Assault Marines, forming an armored wall. Rhino 3 moved forward, close to Rhino 2, ready to intercept the Assault Terminators. Rhino 4 moved in front of my Exorcists, pivoted side ways, and shielded them. Seraphims joined the fray, moving towards the Assault Marines, readying to mop up any survivors in assault. Lastly, the Celestian Immolator moved full speed ahead, disembarking the Canoness and her retinue within melta-range of the Redeemer.

Both Battle Sisters and surviving Dominions opened up, shredding the Assault Marine squad with Bolter and Holy Promethium. Amid the inferno, only Shrike and a Plasma Pistol Marine survived. My left Exorcists locked on to the survivors. “Shrike, look out!” yelled the Assault Marine, but he was too late and while the Assault Marine found cover, Shrike didn’t make it, getting pulverized by an Exorcists rocket. Meanwhile, the two remaining Exorcists fired a deadly barrage of rockets right as the Vindicators side armor. One Vindicator with stood the deadly raining missiles, impervious thanks to armor and cover saves. But one rocket hit the demolisher cannon directly, disabling it for the rest of the game. On the right side, both Celestians fired at the oncoming Redeemer, but their shots missed, glancing off the thick Redeemer plating.

Turn 2 (Raven Guard):

The lone assault marine enraged more by the death of his Hero Captain then his squad, leaped out of the inferno and landed near the rear of the Exorcist that just slain Shrike. The second squad of Terminators honed in on the Scouts locator beacon, and teleported right next to them and the Celestian Immolator. A Land Speeder Storm carrying reinforcement of scouts made a wrong turn somewhere and turbo boosted from the right flank of the battlefield, far from any action. The first Terminator squad marched closer towards Rhino 3. The Vindicator that lost its Demolisher Cannon hit the gas and rammed Rhino 1, stunning the crew.

The lone assault marine overheated his plasma pistol, but quickly got in under control. The second Vindicator fired its deadly cannon at the left Exorcist, but only immobilized it. 2 Seraphims however were caught in the blast and didn’t survive the deadly explosion. The Redeemer engulfed the Canoness + Celestian squad with its Flamestorm Cannon, but all survived by the divine martyred spirit. The teleported second Terminator squad apparently landed facing the direction of my Exorcists, and ran for the first target they set eyes on (clearly my opponent wanted my Exorcists dead). The first Terminator squad ran towards Rhino 3, eventually assaulting it thanks to fleet. But lady luck wasn’t on their side and only one hit managed to penetrate the fast moving rhino, immobilizing it.

Turn 2 (Order of Faith):

The sudden arrival of 8 Close Combat Terminators took my command squad completely by surprised, but fortunately they were distracted elsewhere. My Celestian squad moved towards the side of the Redeemer, giving the Immolator more room to engulf any survivors. Rhino 1, stunned by the Vindicator, moved forward twelve inches away from the assaulting first Terminator squad. Mean while, both Battle Sister squads, Dominions, and Seraphims converged on the first Terminator squad, determined to wipe them off the board. Rhino 4 moved behind the Sister horde, disembarking a third Battle Sister Squad against the first Terminator squad. Rhino 2 replaced Rhino 4, parking in front of the three Exorcists. Rhino 3, which was recently immobilized by the first Terminator squad’s assault, disembarked its troops from the rear hatch. The Battle Sister squad advanced towards the Vindicator still armed with a Demolisher Cannon.

All three Battle Sister Squads called upon divine guidance, rapid firing their bolters, and jetting the Terminators with multiple templates. Despite a total of 90 bolter shots and 6 templates, only one Terminator felled from the onslaught! Mean while, my Exorcists opened up on the first Terminator squad, determined to finish off the invulnerable foe, but the storm shields deflected the deadly rockets. On the right side, the Celestians succeeded in blowing up the Redeemer. 2 Scouts died from the fiery explosion. 3 climbed out of the wreckage only to be wiped out by the Immolator’s Heavy Flamers.

Turn 3 (Raven Guard):

The second Terminator squad moved closer towards the three Exorcists. The Land Speeder that entered the game last turn, turbo-boosted behind the second Terminator squad, promising multi-melta support next turn against the much despised Exorcists tanks. A second Land Speeder Storm entered the table, but like last time, outflank from the wrong side of the table. The speeder turbo boosted toward the ruins middle in table. The first Terminator squad positioned itself for multiple charges against my immobile Rhino, Dominions, and one of the three Battle Sister squads that shot at them in the previous turn. The weaponless Vindicator chased after the Rhino 1, ramming it a second time. This time it destroyed Rhino 1’s storm bolter.

The second Vindicator, still armed with a Demolisher cannon, moved away from the Battle Sister squad, putting area terrain between them. It shot my right Exorcist and blew its Exorcist Organ gun into pieces. Both first and second Terminator squad ran, closing in on their targets.

The first Terminator squad charged the Dominions, one of the three Battle Sister squads that shot at them previous turn, and the immobile Rhino 3. Three Terminators assaulted the crippled Rhino, easily penetrating its armor with their Thunder Hammers. But they pounded it a little too hard, causing a massive explosion, which killed two Terminators of the seven Terminators. 7 Terminators can survive a deadly volley of rending bolters, but 2 couldn’t survive explosion from a Rhino? The remaining attacks were split between the three Dominions and one Battle Sister Squad. Two Dominions and four Battle Sisters were slain from the mighty war hammers. But thanks to the inspiring presence of the Book of St. Lucius, the last remaining Dominion stood stubbornly firm against the massive killer giants. The Battle Sister squad however failed their moral test and fled towards my left side of the board. Finally, the second Terminator squad assaulted my right weaponless-Exorcist and the Rhino parked in front. They easily crushed both vehicles.

Turn 3 (Order of Faith):

I couldn’t rally my Battle Sister squad still within six inches of the Terminator squad. They continued to run seven inches, stopping 1 inch short from the edge of the table (that was a close one!). Rhino 1 once again fled from the persistent, weaponless, and ramming Vindicator. My Seraphim squad positioned themselves ready to charge into the Terminator squad locked in combat by my lone Dominion. The Battle Sister squad that didn’t get charged by the Terminators chased after the weaponless Vindicator. The third Battle Sister squad that provided cover fire behind my Dominions trained their guns on the second Terminator squad that was wreaking havoc against my Exorcists. The still mobile Exorcist retreated further into the woods but some immobilized itself while backing into a tree. My fourth Battle Sister squad that shot at the armed-Vindicator advanced further into the ruins, easily getting within melta-range to the Siege Shield. Towards the right, my Celestian Immolator moved full speed, intercepting the Land Speeder Storm near the second Terminator squad. My Canoness and her retinue of Celestians advanced toward the second Land Speeder Storm that just arrived this turn.

My Sisters of Battle squad rapid fired their bolters, unleashed their heavy flamer, and shot with their meltagun against the exposed rear armor of the weaponless Vindicator with no effect. My right Sisters of Battle squad was luckier, melting the treads off the second Vindicator. My middle Sisters of Battle squad shot at the second Terminator squad from a distance. But their ancient armor repelled the attack. My left Exorcist fired at the immobile Vindicator, disabling the demolisher cannon. My right Exorcist unleashed a barrage of rockets at the Land Speeder Storm behind the Terminators, sending it crashing to the ground. Like before, 3 scouts survived only to be incinerated by my Celestian Immolator. My Celestians riddled the second Land Speeder Storm with bolters and meltaguns, but none could hit the turbo-boosted skimmer.

My Canoness and Seraphim called upon the protection from the holy spirit and launched into the rear of the Terminators. The Canoness brought her blessed blade crashing down on an unsuspecting Terminator, piercing him at the base of the neck, severing the spinal chord. Two Terminators finished off the lone Dominion while two others tried to parry the swift Dominions, but with no effect as their slow bulky hammers hit air. Veteran Sister Superior Seraphim made an elegant side sweep with her Eviscerator, cutting through one Terminator leaving three of the five remaining. But they stood their ground and held the Jump squad in assault.

The Vindicator’s crew watched in awe as a Battle Sisters squad became endowed by a golden aura, increasing their strength twice folds. The Battle Sisters, like a group of Khorne cultists, leaped on the immobile Vindicator, ripping it to pieces with their bare hands, leaving a burning hulk in their wake. What became of the crew is best left forgotten.

Turn 4 (Raven Guard):

The second Terminator squad moved and fleeted towards the remaining two Exorcists. The remaining Land Speeder Storm moved flat out again on a flight path towards my Rhinos. The remaining Vindicator hit the gas and rammed Rhino 1 once again. It penetrated the side armor causing a chain reaction, which resulted in giant explosion.

The assaulted continued between my Seraphims and first Terminator squad. One Terminator managed to smash two Seraphims before my Veteran Sister Superior decapitated him. The remaining Terminator parried with my Canoness, fending off blow by blow. The second Terminator squad charged my two Exorcists, destroying both. One Terminator was lost from the catastrophic explosions as the exorcist magazine ignited, sending rockets streaking into the air.

Turn 4 (Order of Faith):

My Sister of Battle squad rallied and joined the battle. My other Battle Sister squad was in hot pursuit of the lone weaponless Vindicator pest. The Celestian Immolator sped away from the second Terminator squad. Canoess and Celestians Retinue advanced towards the Inquisitor, long forgotten in the corner of the table.

My left Sister of Battle squad once again shot the rear of the remaining Vindicator, finally wrecking it. The remaining Sisters of Battle fired at the remaining Land Speeder, damaging its multi-melta.

One more Terminator fell to the Canoness blessed blade. The remaining Terminator stood firm, blocking the oncoming attacks while delivering a deadly blow to a Seraphim Flamer.

Turn 5 (Raven Guard):

The seven man Terminator squad moved and ran towards the Immolator. The weaponless Land Speeder retreated back towards the Inquisitor.

The seven Terminators assaulted my Immolator but all failed to his the speedy Immolator! Finally my Canoness cut through the last Terminator, consolidating towards the second Terminator squad.

Turn 5 (Order of Faith):

Everyone opened up on the remaining Terminator squad, felling one. My Celestians moved and ran, towards the lone Inquisitor.

My Seraphims assaulted the Terminators slewing two while losing none of their own.

We rolled to see if the game continued. The die came up with a two, ending the bloody battle with the Order of Faith scoring eight kill points while my opponent scored seven.

Outcome: Victory for the Sisters of Battle!

Scouts aboard the damaged Land Speeder Storm spotted Inquisitor Wroth in a clearing. They circled back, proceeding to extract him. Suddenly two bright beams erupted from the forest, penetrating through the light hull of the speeder. The Speeder erupted into a ball of flames, crashing into the trees, and igniting the dry underbrush. Three scouts bruised and bloodied pulled themselves from the wreckage but were caught off guard as Canoness Dianus and her Celestians assaulted them, leaving none alive. Inquisitor Wroth backed away, stumbling over a root.

“Inquisitor Wroth, we finally meet in person,” said the Canoness, “For not heeding our message, resisting arrest, and blasphemous manipulation of the Raven Guards, you have condemned yourself to a slow and long excruciating death. Our interrogators look forward to meeting you aboard the Eternal.”

Grand report Sounds like it was a pretty close fought affair!

I too have suffered horrendous luck with DG shooting of late, i hope it's just a phase my dice are going through.

Glad to see someone else using seraphim too; my opponents all seem to ignore them (usually going after the Exorcists) then curse themselves when they tear through their elite troops.

Great batrep. Took me a sitting or two to actually devote the time to reading it all, but this is the kind of stuff that really helps a newer player like myself improve his feel for the game's tactics. (Not to mention understanding of the armies I don't own a dex for.)

Ah wow, someone resurrected one of my battle reports.

I've been updating them on Warseer, but stopped doing so on Dakkadakka because too many readers demand seeing images rather then clicking on links to images. Fortunately I have some down time (still waiting for school to start), so I'll once again start posting them on dakkadakka.
