So I'm sure this has been discussed before but I just wanted to be absolutely clear.
How many attacks do Chaos Space Marines get when assaulting? Their profile says one, but under wargear they have a bolt pistol and a close combat weapon. So as quoted from the rulebook "+1 two weapons: Engaged models with two single handed weapons (typically a close combat weapon and/or pistol in each hand) get an extra +1 attack." So does this mean all chaos space marines get 2 attacks always, or do they they have to be modeled that way, does the model have to be physically holding a bolter and a close combat weapon to get the extra attack.

On the charge the average Chaos Marine gets 3 attacks (1 base, +1 for additional CCW, +1 for charge bonus)

When not charging they will generally get 2 attacks each (1 base, +1 additional weapon) unless certain effects deny them an attack.

Your need to model them that way is roughly equal to your need to model vanilla marines with krak grenades, frag grenades, and a bolt pistol in addition to their bolter. Generally speaking no one will bug you about this and you can just leave them with their bolter. But if going to a tournament you may wish to ask the TO for how he plays it just to be safe.

They have 1 Attack.

Plus any bonus attacks they might be entitled too.

A CSM has a Bolt Pistol and a CCW, so they get a Bonus attack for that.
