Basically the Dreads are supported by the MotF taking out transports and light vehicles. The MotF gives them their CC back and can repair them as needed. This combo is tested and fun to play.

The Speeders cause trouble for hordes or armor.
The Terminators and Librarian give everyone headaches.
Tac Squads do What Tac Squads Do...Sit on objectives and hold their breath.

So there are three attacking units right from the get go, gating termies, three shooty dreads, and three hot speeders.
All three are flexible enough to cause serious trouble for anyone, and can easily support each other. Speeders can deep strike or come in from reserve, termies can teleport instead of relying on Gate if the eldar are around
I know that being an all arounder is supposedly no good for 40k--"do one thing and do it well," but elite troop armies, speedy squishy armies with psychic powers, horde armies, mech armies, will all have to deal with some problems.

So will I just barely lose most of the time or what?

Awesome Dreads!! I like the Gate on the Libbie.

You could save 120 points by switching the dreads to Dakka Preds.... then take one of those Dreads back as an elite....

5 auto cannons and 6 HB's vs 6 autocannons....

Looks good, only gripe is the MoTF a S4\8 power weapon is not giving the 3 dreads their CC back. The conversion beamer would be the superior choice imo. That and the terminators way too large of a points sink.

I play: - 2000pt
Deathwing - 12-1500 pts and counting

Thanks Kaiser!

I imagine that the shots would quickly get reduced to 6 autocannon shots that are not twin linked, because you want to move the tank to get to your premium targets, its too easy to avoid LOS from a stationary platform. But I haven't tried it and armor 13 is a lot better than 12.
Also, I only have one pred...

You have three dakka preds in your list right, do you get to blast away with them all or do you lose a lot of HB shots from maneuvering?

@Black Eagle
Okay, so not equal to Str 10 hits, but giving some of the CC back...kind of.

Conversion Beamer takes away the Harness, which gives up two powerfist attacks and fixing the vehicles on a 4+ instead of a 5+. And it costs points. I've thought of this and tried it, plus he can't move with the dreads and shoot. I'm sure this is awesome with scout snipers or something else complimentary, just not in this instance, in my experience.

I admit that it's a lot in the Termies, but two assault cannons ruin everything and the unit takes so much fire that everything else is kind of ignored. And they've carried the game for me more than once.
So if I get rid of some Termies, what should I take instead?

Thanks for the replies guys

I played a 1000 pt game with him where I dumped most of my firepower into 5 terminators he had. By the end his army had maneuvered in and destroyed mine and two terminators where still standing. If I had ignored or stayed away from them they would have rolled up my flank or denied me half the board.

From an opponents perspective I definitely think they are worth the points.

Burnrate-I just hope you lose sleep at night knowing the Eldar ruined it (existence) for everyone!!

Okay the list..

I''ve made the libby a terminator and taken away the MotF Power Weapon because the 'ELDAR' will make using the gate difficult and I want him to DS with the Terminators if necessary.

Gave the Las/Plas Squad a power weapon instead of a fist and added a Chainfist.

ARRRRGGGHHHHHHH!!! ELDAR!!!!!

Those are some pretty awesome dreads! Did you use IG HWT Autocannons to build them? I'm trying to build a pseudo-rifleman dread for my Deathwing, and am completely stumped as for ideas.

And as for the Dakka Pred vs rifleman dread notion, with the inclusion of the MotF, it seems like you might as well use his special ability. Dakka Preds are nice, IMO, but with 5th Edition's emphasis on mobility, you're gonna have to maneuver and keep moving to really stick it to your opponent (mechanized IG, mechanized Orks, Rhino spam, etc). Those Dakka Preds, unless you're playing on an empty table, will probably need to relocate a couple of times, losing you the heavy bolter shots. The rifleman dreads can relocate and fire, and are twin-linked. Admittedly, I prefer anything twin linked due to my penchant for perpetually rolling one's in my shooting phase...

Thanks! I did just use IG bitz from the heavy weapons teams. One of them is inverted and has the eagle filed off. I wanted to offset the barrels and have the lower one sticking out more, so I did a little filing and they fit right together.

I think you'll find that if your opponent starts throwing around plasma cannon or starcannon shots those tactical termies are going to get pasted. You'd save a few points by trading them out for assault terminators and they'd be a lot more survivable.

I still think horde orks would give this list trouble... I'd like to see some large templates like from Vindicators or at least one Dread with a Heavy Flamer in a Drop Pod because a mob or two of Lootas are going to wreck your Dreads and your Transports.

Null Zone is amazing, and the Tactical Squad builds are fine.

I haven't played a list like this ever...but I really, really like it. This could be really nasty for almost anyone. My only suggestion would be to consider putting in TH/SS Termies for greater survivability, or take a HF instead of one of the assault cannons. But other then that, I think this list can rock.

Thanks Jeb, my concern with the TH/SS Termies is that the Gate is not so great, you can't teleport then shoot all your SB and Assault Cannons, I know I'd get greater survivability, but I think my anti-horde would really suffer.

For Instance, I can gate near some lootas and destroy them, or I can gate near some lootas and get shot to bits, plus with gate it is a lot easier to stay clear of plasma cannons, or gate and shoot the plasma cannons to bits
