Farseer Ava calmly sat, meditating in complete silence. For weeks she endured grueling torture both physically and mentally. At first her monkeigh captors had tried breaking her through pain enhance drugs, constant beatings, and shock therapy. But Ava had mastered both body and mind and simply blocked off all physical sensation, ignoring her pain receptors. The monkeigh interrogators realize methods were ineffective and employed more radical techniques specifically for psykers, but even that didn’t work. The Farseer’s mind was too strong. One day a hooded figure entered the prison cell and quietly stood still in a corner.

Without warning, the hooded figure unleashed a tidal force of psychic energy crashing into the Farseer’s mental shields. Ava gasped, holding back the psychic onslaught. Never have she faced a power of such great magnitude. She tried to repel the overwhelming force, but her monkeigh captors had injected her with some sort of catalyst that lowered her innate abilities. The assailant repeatedly wracked her brain with bolts of negative warp energy blasts over and over, giving no room for respite. The Farseer squirm in her seat, struggling against her restraints, trying to break free and put distance between her and her tormentor, but it was no use. She could feel the jabs of needles stabbing into her brain while an invisible force slowly screw into her cranium, slowly splitting her mind apart. Nausea and migraine flood her thoughts, her hands gripping her seat, and a scream rip from her throat before blacking out.

In her dreams a storm rage on as beings from the Empyrean, stalk the Farseer, eager to feast on her rich soul. For centuries Farseer Ava had concealed her presence from the realm chaos, but the hooded assailant had stripped her mental shields, leaving her naked to the horrors of the warp. But even in her dreams the hooded figure pursued, appearing as a ghostly ethereal dark specter, sucking on the Farseer’s soul. Even the Daemons and horrors of the Empyrean stopped in their tracks surrounding the two, wary of the mysterious fiend’s presence. Ava noticed on the ground, a silver barrier had formed surrounding both her and the phantom, a sanctuary where no Daemonic entity could cross. Ava collapse under pressure as the fiend continues draining her life force. “No,” the Farseer thought, “it wasn’t supposed to end this way.”

Suddenly a blood curdling, “WAAAGGGGGHHH!!!” roared across the realm and an Ork teleported into the sanctuary. A moment of silence descended upon the dream world as Daemons, Farseer Ava, and the hooded figure all stared at the new visitor, confounded by the Green Skin’s sudden appearance. The fiend immediately turn his attention on the Weirdboy, launching a full psychic assault. Warp lightning shot from the specter’s deathly fingers, surging towards the Weirdboy, but the Ork open his jaw wide and suck in the psychic energy. Inhaling deeply, the Weirdboy released the warp energy in another loud “WAAGGGGHHHH” shooting a bright green beam from his mouth, piercing the phantom, punching through the sanctuary, and incinerating any Daemons caught within the blast. The hooded figure wavered, howling in agony, before fading from the Farseer’s dreams.

The Ork let out a loud belch, nodding to himself, and then set his glowing eyes on the dazed Farseer. The oppressive force cleared up in the Farseer’s mind and she let out a sigh of relief, finally freed from her tormentor. “Oi, wakey wakey, me an’ me warp boyz coming da bust ya out ‘ere real good,” said the Ork. Ava shook her head in disbelief, “Of all things fate had in store for me, it was to be saved by an Ork?!” “Oi, I’s not da best hero no savior, but I save ur arse soo shut it!” Ava shrugged, the Ork was right, and she was in no position to refuse, not after what just happen after coming perilously close to death. “Fine, but why is it that you are here saving me? Your kind worships war and have little regard for kindness. Surely there is nothing to be gain from saving one such as myself,” inquired the Farseer. The Weirdboy boomed with laughter. “Tru is dat,” said the Ork, “I want da crump yah weaklin’ real good, but in me visionz, Mork sez dere a good fight to be had an’ you kno ere’ it be. “Then come free me,” replied the Farseer, “the monkeigh who captured me have many powerful psykers who should quench your thirst.” The Weirdboy smiled a big toothy grin, “be dere in a jiffy!” A bright green light envelope the Farseer and the Ork and Ava woke up, returning back the physical realm. Before her, the hooded figure laid motionless, slumped across the floor.

“Sound the alarm, Orks in the courtyard,” yelled a prison guard. “Activate the servitors and notify the covenant,” barked the prison warden. The command bunker was in an uproar as vox operators scrambled to relay messages, request outside help, and transmitting orders to guards. “How could this happen? I thought Hell Rock II was impenetrable, not even an Alpha class psyker could breach our defenses,” thought the prison warden. Outside the green-skins were in frenzy, smashing anything they set eyes on. Bastions Servitor and automated guns blazed into the Ork mob, firing everything they got, but there were too many Orks.

Played a 1000 points game with my Sisters of Battle pitted against Orks. We rolled for mission and got Capture & Control. Rolled for deployment and got Pitched Battle.

Setting:

The table was setup to look like an Industrial city tainted by chaos. Scattered around the battlefield were craters filled with spools of sludge sprouting tzeentchy tentacles. An abandoned ruined manifactorum sat perched on top of a hill overlooking the battlefield. In a corner, an Adeptus Mechanicus research station stood, the only building untouched.

Army List:

Orks:

-Weirdboy, Warphead
-Big Mek, shokk attack gun
-Snikrot and 4 Kommandos
-30 Boyz, Nob, Power Klaw, 3 Big Shootas
-30 Boyz, Nob, Power Klaw, 3 Big Shootas
-Herder and 10 Grots
-5 Nobz, 2 Power Klaws, 2 Big Choppas, Painboy, eavy’armour, cybork body

Sisters of Battle (Order of Faith):

-Canoness, Eviscerator, Book of St. Lucius - Canoness Dianus
-5 Celestian Retinue, 2 Meltaguns, Immolator
-10 Battle Sisters, Veteran Sister Superior, Brazier of Holy Fire, Book of St. Lucius, Flamer, Heavy Flamer, Rhino, extra armour, smoke – VSS Cath
-10 Battle Sisters, Veteran Sister Superior, Brazier of Holy Fire, Book of St. Lucius, Flamer, Heavy Flamer, Rhino, extra armour, smoke – VSS Tristy
-10 Battle Sisters, Veteran Sister Superior, Brazier of Holy Fire, Book of St. Lucius, Meltagun, Heavy Flamer, Rhino, extra armour, smoke – VSS Felecia
-Exorcist - Wrath and Ruin

Later on I recalculated the points and discovered my opponent was off by 55 points. Sneaky Xenos!

Deployment:

My opponent won the roll off to go first and started placing his objective (Grot Assistant model) on top of the Adeptus Mechanicus building.

I placed my objective (female Commissar model) in one of the chaos-tainted terrain pieces along my board edge.

The Ork forces emerged, surrounding the Adeptus Mechanicus building.

To the left, Nobz setup, ready to sprint across towards the Sister’s objective.

Big Mek attached himself to the Gretchins and Rune Herder. They scaled up the Adept research station, setting up on the top deck, getting a clear view overlooking the city.

Weirdboy and his mob of 30 Boyz stood to the right of the right.

A second squad of 30 Boyz setup right next to them.

A train of mechanize vehicles rolled onto the board edge, ready to recapture the Adeptus Mechanicus building. Canoness Dianus and her command squad drove up in an Immolator along the right flank. VSS Felicia and her Battle Sisters chugged forward on the left. VSS Tristy and VSS Cath deployed dead in center. Exorcist Wrath and Ruin drove in form behind, providing fire support from the rear.

Turn 1 (Orks):

The Green Skin horde raced across the board, eager to get into grips with the Sisters of Battle.

Dok and his Nobz moved along the left flank.

Weirdboy and his Boyz splashed through the craters with little regard to what they were stepping in.

Second Ork Boyz jogged around the Crater.

Weirdboy rolled a 6 for his psychic power. From the top of his lungs, he screamed “waaagh!” He and his Boyz charged forward, sloshing through the slimy infested craters.

Dok and his Nobz also ran forward.

The second Ork Boyz shot wildly with their Big Shootas into the Immolator, but either their shots missed or ricocheted harmlessly off of the vehicle.

Big Mek charged his shokk gun and blasted VSS Cath’s Rhino. Despite it being a Strength 9 large blast and hitting dead center on the Sister’s transport, it only stuns the Rhino.

Turn 1 (Sisters of Battle):

The Adeptus Sororitas armored wall shifted gears and slowly creep forward.

VSS Felecia secured the left objective.

Canoness Dianus followed by VSS Tristy and VSS Cath maneuvered towards the right flank.

Exorcist Wrath and Ruin drove forward, backing VSS Felecia.

Exorcist Wrath and Ruin unleashed a deadly barrage, raining deadly rockets on the Nobz. Despite all hits and five wounds, the Nobz makes an astonishing four invulnerable saves! One Nob armed with a Choppa is crushed, smearing the ground with wet green ichor oozing out.

VSS Felecia’s Rhino crew pop opens a hatch and fires a storm bolter at the Nobz, but fails to hit.

VSS Tristy’s Rhino crew fires into the second Ork Boyz mob, picking off one Green Skin.

Turn 2 (Orks):

Snikrot and his low cunning Kommandos became available from reserves, sneaking in behind Adepta Sororitas mech train, and making their way towards Exorcist Wrath and Ruin.

Weirdboy and his Boyz along with the Nobz continue advancing towards the left flank, heading towards the Sister’s objective.

Second Ork Boyz moves right, heading towards the Immolator.

Weirdboy rolls for his psychic and got “Zzap”. A green beam discharges from his glowing eyes, shooting straight at VSS Felecia’s Rhino. The laser hits tank’s treads, melting it into metallic goo. Sister’s transport becomes immobilized.

Second Ork Boyz and Big Mek concentrate fire on the Immolator, but all their shots miss or scatter off the command squad’s vehicle.

Kommandos shot into the Exorcist’s exposed rear, but fail to hit despite the vehicle being right in front of them.

Nobz continue running forward.

Snikrot and his Kommandos leaped on top of Exorcist Wrath and Ruin, banging it repeatedly with their crude weapons. Snikrot using his Mork’s Teeth daggers finally rips into the Exorcist hull, slaughtering the Servitor reloader, organist, and wrecking the Exorcist engine entirely.

Turn 2 (Sisters of Battle):

VSS Felecia and her squad assemble outside their immobilized transport and dashes towards their objective.

Canoness and her command squad disembark from the Immolator and sprints towards the Ork Kommandos.

VSS Tristy orders her Rhino forward. She and her Battle Sisters disembark near the second Ork Boyz mob.

VSS Cath follows behind, disembarking behind VSS Tristy’s Rhino, ready to provide fire support.

Immolator also moves towards the second Ork Boyz.

Two Celestians from Canoness Dianus’ command squad fires their meltaguns into the Kommandos. A bright hot beam punches through an Ork and the Kommando drops dead with a smoking hole in his chest.

VSS Felecia’s Battle Sisters unleash a torrent of bolters, promethium, and melta into the encroaching Nobz. But tough and resilient Xenos shrug off their wound, intoxicated by the Dok’s drugs. One Nob with a Power Klaw takes a wound.

Both VSS Tristy and VSS Cath Battle Sisters fire everything they got into the second Ork Boyz. Immolator spews gouts of holy promethium, lighting the Xenos on fie. An inferno erupts and explosive bolter cuts in the mob. Orks howled in agony as many are burned alive or blown to pieces. 17 Ork Boyz perishes in the raging fire storm.

Canoness Dianus spearheads the assault on the Ork infiltrators. Celestians and Kommandos clash, pitting muscles against steel. The highly trained Sisters elites dodged and parried, slaying two Kommandos. Snikrot lunges on one Celestian, plunging his black daggers into the Sister’s gut ripping her open. Canoness brings down her Eviscerator, cleaving one Kommando in two. Snikrot looks around realizing he’s the sole survivor and attempts to flee, but the Celestians quickly tackles him, restraining the leader to the ground while Dianus walks forth. Lifting her Eviscerator high over her head, the Canoness brought it crashing down, decapitating the Kommando Boss. The command squad moved on, heading towards the objective.

Turn 3 (Orks):

Remnants of the second Ork Boyz rushes toward VSS Tristy.

Weirdboy and his mob, along with the Nobz, continue slogging towards the Sister’s objective, now held by VSS Felecia’s squad.

Weirdboy rolls a 5 for psychic power. “Ere we go,” said the Weirdboy and a green light enveloped him and his Boyz. Suddenly the entire squad disappeared into the warp. A moment later, space rift opens up near the wrecked Exorcist and the Weirdboy pops back into the physical realm. Shotrly after, the rest of his Boyz reappeared around him.

The Canoness and her Celestians stared with their eyes wide open, shocked at what just happened. The Boyz spotted the nearby Sisters and excitedly started shooting at them. Steel rain caught the command squad out in the open, ripping three Celestians apart. Canoness Dianus and a single Celestian survives the onslaught, but loses moral and flees off the table.

Second Ork Boyz opens up on VSS Tristy and her Battle Sisters, killing one Battle Sister.

Big Mek supercharges his shook gun and fires an electrifying bolt towards VSS Cath’s squad.

Despite hitting all of them, it was a low strength 4 blast, killing two 2 Battle Sisters.

Nobz fires wildly into VSS Felecia’s squad but the good Dok’s drugs hypes their adrenaline, causing them to all mist despite the Sisters being right in front of them.

Nobz bellows in frustration, switching to their point weapons, and charges into VSS Felecia’s squad. VSS Felecia and her Battle Sisters chanted in unison, invoking Hand of the Emperor.

The Nobz, erratic and frenzy, butchers and smashes 9 Battle Sisters into bloody chunks. VSS Felecia, the sole survivor from her squad, attacks back, and inflicts two wound on the brutes.

VSS Felecia stubbornly holds her ground, fighting on to the bitter end.

Meanwhile the second Ork Boyz pounces VSS Tristy’s Battle Sisters.

Like the Nobz, they too manage to slaughter all but one Bolter girl.

The lone Battle Sister passes her leadership, holding off the Orks for an entire turn.

Turn 3 (Sisters of Battle):

VSS Cath salutes the last Battle Sister and orders her squad to hop in VSS Tristy’s Rhino. They drive full speed forward, heading towards the Adeptus Mechanicus Bastion while VSS Cath’s empty Rhinos tails behind, covering the lead Rhino.

Immolator doubles back and moves to intercept the newly arrived Weirdboy and his rowdy warp Boyz, providing cover fire for the fleeing Canoness.

Its Heavy Flamer sprays burning promethium, engulfing 9 Orks in liquid fire.

Second Ork Boyz finishes off the last Battle Sister and chases after the getaway Rhinos.

Nobz also finish off VSS Felecia, consolidating near Felecia’s empty Rhino.

Turn 4 (Orks):

Second Ork Boyz moves closer towards the lead Rhino.

Weirdboy rolls a 3 for his psychic, “Zzap”. His eyes shot a powerful laser punching into the Immolator’s armored hull, igniting fuel tanks. The volatile liquid erupts, spewing flames and smoke into the sky, turning the command vehicle into a wrecked bonfire.

Big Mek spots the advancing Rhino and fires his Shokk gun at them. But firing at moving vehicle proves to be more challenging and instead of hitting the Rhino, the shot deviates, landing right on top of the second Ork Boyz.

5 Boyz dies in the blast. Fortunately, they passed their leadership.

Surviving Ork Boyz assaulted the lead Rhino, stunning and destroying its storm bolter.

Nobz assaults VSS Felecia’s empty Rhino, blowing it to smithereens

One Nobz wielding a Choppa is caught in the explosion and dies. Nobz passes moral.

Turn 4 (Sisters of Battle):

VSS Cath and her Battle Sisters disembarks from their Rhino, jumping into the pool of sludge near the Boyz.

VSS Cath’s empty Rhino drives around the crater, popping smoke.

VSS Cath and her squad unleash hell on the Ork Boyz, wiping them out.

Turn 5 (Orks):

Weirdboy and his warp Boyz moves and runs towards the Sister’s objective.

Nobz rushes back to defend the Orks’ objective.

VSS Cath spots the entrenched Shokk gun pointed directly at them and leads her squad in a prayer for the Spirit of Martyr. The entire squad becomes enveloped in a golden aura and an invisible invulnerable shield fabricates around them.

Big Mek fires super charges his Shokk gun to maximum strength and fires at the Battle Sister. The heavy shock dissipates off the golden aura and only one Battle Sister fell, crushed by the immense shock force.

Gretchins fires their small blastas, picking off one Battle Sister.

VSS Cath passes moral, encouraging her squad to fight on.

Turn 5 (Sisters of Battle):

VSS Cath and her Battle Sisters climbed out of the slimy craters, getting closer to the Adeptus Mechanicus building.

VSS Cath’s empty Rhino drives towards the Nobz, blocking them off.

The other Rhino moves into the Bastion, contesting the Ork’s objective (because we didn’t declare it as impassible, because planet strike terrain are treated differently in standard games, and because the Bastion didn’t have any room underneath, my opponent allowed me to park my Rhino right on top).

VSS Cath’s squad ran into the Adeptus Mechanicus building, reaching the lower deck, contesting the Ork’s objective.

At the end of turn 5, we rolled to see if the game will continue. The die came up to a two, ending the game.

Picture of the aftermath:

With no one controlling the Sister’s objective and the Ork’s objective being contested.

Outcome: DRAW!

Veteran Sister Superior Cath and her Battle Sisters storm the Adeptus Mechanicus Bastion. "Secure the null field generator," Dianus voxed in, "If it falls, then it will be the doom of us all.” “Aye,” Cath replied. Cath and her hardened Battle Sisters made their way through the corpse littered halls. Blood splattered all over the walls with holes riveting the surface. The dead lay slump across the floor. Some were hacked to pieces while others sprawled on their backs with their expression of utter terror frozen across their face. Finally they made it to the control room, but what they found was more disturbing then in the halls.

“The command Hub is destroyed, looks like the green skins got there first,” reported the Veterans Sister. “Frak!” cursed the Canoness, “All units fall back to the Drop Ships, ignore the Xenos!” Just then the northern prison block exploded as a pillar of black and purple flames shot straight into the sky. Dark clouds form and the ground began to shake, throwing everyone off their feet. A chorus of evil laughter echoed across the prison courtyard. Rogue Psykers flooded out of the prisons cells blasting Orks, prison guards, and fellow inmates. Mutants and chaos sorcerers from every cult joined in the fray, unleashing warp fire, spewing deadly toxins, blasting noises of insanity.

In the thick of the fighting, Weirdboy crackled with green energy sending arcs of warp lightning into the chaos and imperial crowd. A chaos sorcerer materialize before Weirdboy casting gift of chaos. A flash of chaos energy shot towards the Ork Psyker. But before the energy touch, an invisible barrier instantly form, bouncing the spell back into the caster, transmogrifying the chaos sorcerer into a chaos spawn. The Weirdboy chuckled and look too the psyker that just saved him. “Now we are even,” said Farseer Ava. Weirdboy grin and gave the Eldar thumbs up before throwing himself back into the fight. Ava shook her head, amazed at what had transpired. Tracing a line before her, the Farseer open a portal, stepping through, leaving Hell Rock II for good.

I haven't had an opportunity to play a lot of orks recently, so take with a grain of salt, but...

Do you find it effective to disembark for torrent of fire?

Seems like you had some issues that could have been resolved with Drive By Shooting rather than jumping out.

With 30 boys, it's unlikely that you'll gun them all down, but likely that they will rip you to pieces if you're close enough to charge.

Against most of my opponents, I rarely disembark unless I need a speed bump for their advance or know I will wipe them out.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, taking advantage of Tank shock mechanics and flamers on large mobs seems to work out for me.

I actually just played an Ork list last night, the player was a good guy and he did not have sneaky Snikrot but used:

Warboss
Big Mek with KFF
5x Nobz w/ Painboy in Trukk

20x Boys Choppas, Sluggas
20x Boys Choppas, Sluggas

1x Deffkopta
1x Deffkopta

Battle Wagon

I ran a similar list to yours, 3 troops squads but with 2x Exorcists and a Jump Pack Cannonness. I was able to divide and conquer his squads using mobility, but it looks like the table you played was pretty narrow which makes that hard. The 'trick' to orks is they really remove the advantage of mobility by saturating the board. I found I needed to devote two squads of SoB to break down their numbers.

That was one REALLY risky deepstrike by the Weirdboy, if he had deviated just a little bit on his scatter he would have mishapped

Oh, how I love Sisters. I think another advantage you have is to exploit Flamers... Immolater spam!

I actually have a full body tattoo, but it's of an invisibility cloak, so you can't see it.
