So this is the first of my new future Tyranid army. Keeping it small for now around 600-1k points. With a bunch of Gaunts, Genestealers and only one Tyrant thus far. But all that aside, this is the first of the lot. And im curious what you all think of the color scheme thus far? My painting experience previously is mostly humanoids (IG and some SM) So 'their a little new to me.

Your colours are pretty flats, try washing the blue.

Also the purple on the head doesnt look great, try using one colour for skin and another contrasting colour for the carapace (like dark red and bright blue respectively).

I really thin the skin should be more vibrant. It needs to be lightened up IMO.

And I seem to say this to everyone but......mabe swithc the carapace and skin colors around?

The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".

I have almost the SAME color scheme. What I do for the skin is drybrush a dark red like mechrite or red gore. Then a wash in devlin mud and then a drybrush of red gore over that and it creates a great contrast between the lower recesses and the lighter tips. For the carapace try dry brushing or painting on a design or something to make it less flat and stuff.

Also your paints look pretty thick, try watering them down for better coverage and better overall smoothness.

Civilization is the progress toward a society of privacy. The savage's whole existence is public, ruled by the laws of his tribe. Civilization is the process of setting man free from men.
