So I'm building a set of three manticores for my IG I just build a prototype storm eagle. I look and feel that it llooks the part of a one shot awesome killy missle but then I put it next to a model and it looks amazingly huge. So I'm asking for advice should I leave as is or shorten it a little and if so how much. I don't have much to compare to other then the FW model's pictures, but keep in mind I want mine to be distinctively not FW.

Looks like the perfect size, if not too small.

I would cut the fins a little bit (0.5 cm), too long for my taste.

Looks fine, although I'd only put two max on that tank chassis if that's what you're planning.

I tend to agree with Mig - those fins look a bit long, although that does have the advantage of giving it a slightly alien/foreign technology look over a "modern" missle.

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

Observations on complex unit wound allocation: If you're feeling screwed, your opponent is probably doing it right.

I'm starting to feel on agreement with the fins not being right. So below is a pic of where I intend to trim it down length to (Top fin.) Becouse the fins would be shorter I felt they might be sticking to far out from the core of the rocket and thought that I should consider triming down the width of the fin (bottom fin) It reduce the bulk of the rocket which will make it easier for me to attach four of them to the turret I'm going to have to scratch build. Thoughts?

I'm not sure that's where I'd trim. If you look at patriot missiles (or any number of others), they almost always have fins butting right up to the base of the rocket. The red would pretty much be the part you would LEAVE, not cut. Maybe leave the bottom portion you painted, then a similar portion at the top and cut the middle? I don't think you need to trim the width down like you've proposed - that part looks right. It's just a little off having the fin run the length of the chassis.

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

Yeah, look at some real-world missiles for reference

I'm going to disagree, keep the fins as huge as they are but perhaps take a 'bit off the sides'. maybe add another 'finlet' to the rear edges of the fins?

This is 40k we are talking about. Technology is a bit clunky at best and not as sleek and shiny as the world we live in.

YMMV.
