So, this is is in response to the question raised in this thread which asks if Marneus Calgar can be fitted into an 1850 list. Obviously the God of War is very expensive. I took multiple honor guard squad for the fun of it, and because I felt that it would be fun and unique. This list is purley theoretical, and isn't something I'm ever going to field.

So, all anti-tank support is integral to the squads. Marneus himself would be attatched to the Terminator squad. The tac squads in drop pods would come on in the first wave, with the honor guard squads and the terminators deploying as needed within range of the drop pods with locator beacons.

Well, since it seems that you're going for an all out drop pod assault, the Las cannons seem like they'd be better replaced by MM weapons. This would also give you 45 points to play with.

aside from that it looks like a fun, if completely top heavy, and ultimately doomed army list

So the three tac squads drop in first with the locator beacons and try to hold on until the horrifying reserve units arrive.

Seems pretty cool against something like CSM, but seems like an orc army would destroy the tacs before help could arrive.

Maybe if you pod, run for cover, and wait it out, it could work.

But if I had three locator beacons I'd want to spend the honor guard points on a vanguard vet squad.

Hey I've fitted Calgar into a 500 point list (and a 1,000 point one too). However in both cases it is horrendously top heavy and not very optimised.

Given the title I was expecting at least 3 ful squads of HG. Or them kitted out properly why no relic blades?

You can fit Calgar in 1850 points it just should be a very assault focused list with Shrike also included (if you want competitive Calgar I'd always suggest Shrike).

I think it would be difficult to get three full HG squads with fixin's. You might end up having to go with basic scout squads for your troops choices...
