As the topic says, I'm poking around for some raptorish type models in scales that may work for 40k, although I'm interested in seeing any dinosaur type things. Yes, I know about the GW cold ones, carnosaurs and stegadons (well, lizardmen in general) and I've seen the Reaper ones too. They're either not quite what I'm looking for or sort of mentally bookmarked to use elsewhere.

I found this site which has some very good resin models that are either along the lines of what I was seeking or just so cool that I want to find a use for them anyway, but most of them are a bit big. The Antediluvia Collection

EDIT: Further checking the website, I'm not even sure he's still taking orders, his main site hasn't had a news post in 10 months.

why not check out Toys R us or other toy stores for some kids toy versions of dinosaurs?

I have been looking for something for rough riders and have found some acceptable sized figures in the Jurassic Park range. There are others that have good detail on too.

Tamiya have some dinosaur models in the past as well .

The tamiya dinos are 1/35 scale.
Here's a pic with a pretty scared looking guardsman!

As I said, I'd already looked at the Reaper ones. Depending on how tall they are, they're my back up plan.

Interesting. Slightly odd looking, but on a tangent I can't help but think those ornithomimus would make really good seekers, with a little work.

Just looked at their site. I, err, can't seem to find a stockist from whom I can actually get their stuff here in Australia. Go figure.

I have been looking in toy stores but so far the only figures vaguely in scale for 40k have either been out of that soft rubbery stuff or horrible hard plastic with stiff poses, bad casting and no detail. The only thing I'd use them for is an armature to sculpt my own ones over the top. One day maybe but I'm not feeling quite so masochistic at the moment.

Oh well, thanks anyway everyone.

Wow, even the mighty e-bay and Amazon have failed.
I thought that Tamiya would be big enough to be everywhere.
I suppose that's the price you pay for all that sun, sea and sand.

I'd never seen the Tamiya ones - very nice! Thanks for that!

Their T-Rex is a bit goofy looking though...

OP: You mentioned the Lizardman cold ones. Have you taken a look at the Dark Elf cold ones? They are quite literally an entirely different beast, much more like the classic Deinonycus model than the ones the lizzies use.

Well, since there are no seeker models, I was looking around for something similar. The slaanesh champion mount is a nice model but... well, considering the position of the saddle, I'm not sure how fast it could actually be with a rider. And those breasts look awkward for slithering at speed. I was toying around with ideas the other day and thought of raptors. They have the long, sleek, elegant and utterly dangerous vibe that I feel Slaanesh embodies (rather than the 'Look! Boobies!' I keep seeing and hate). I thought that they could make good creatures to pull a chariot, suitably converted.

I did look at the dark elf cold ones, but while I love the models they are rather stronger and stockier looking. They're the equivalent of heavy chargers, not light fast cavalry like, for example, the wood elf glade riders (converting their horses is an idea I've toyed with and had a bit of a go at).

I'm very annoyed that the Tamiya ones seem to be next to impossible to get in Australia. I'd have to get an overseas friend to get them then post them down, it seems. It's a bit bigger than would suit a chariot but it could make a very nice mount for a herald (or champion if I branched across into CSM. Maybe. May look a bit on the scrawny side for power armour). Exotic mounts have always been a thing for me. >.>

These are some rough sketches of what has been going through my mind. I spent about five minutes on each so excuse the shocking quality.

Definately too slight for power armour. I was going to use them for IG Roughriders but they are too small for humans let alone Marines.
I think that they would be perfect for Daemonettes/Seekers though.
Let me know if you want any other scale pics(I have both csm+daemonettes and allsorts of other bits), sprue pics, pics of the other poses or pics from different angles.

I have a pack of the Tamiya ones. They aren't bad. I wanted to use them for Lizardman cold Ones, but the saddles don't look right on them. THe Raptors are a little thin.

Anyone wants them just let me know, they aren't assembled yet.
