Does Hypnotic Gaze last the entire close combat?

In other words, even if the combat is carried over to another turn is it still in effect?

Pg. 62 of Nid Codex

No. Close Combat is a single round of models exchanging attacks. It lasts only for one actual close combat. It does not spill over to the next turn

Because of this then I take it that the Broodlord would also have multiple attempts at using the power.

Multiple attempts per game yes. Not per turn.

Also note that the effect will never be active during your opponents turn, since it can only be applied during the tyranid assault phase.
