I am painting some 2nd edition Fire Dragons for a friend. He still prefers these Fire Dragons over the 3rd and current editions. I figured I'd share with you all and see what you thought. Feel free to post pics of your favorite classics.

Listen to "The Receiving End Of Sirens" they are GREAT

I also prefer these 1st edition Fire Dragons (they were released in 1990) over the current ones.

Nice job on them.

Nicely painted. Those models look good (did they even make a Eldar model that sucked?)

LOL I feel the same way, I have always liked the Eldar. Although, I do have to say that the Guardian models had a REALLY good makeover. Thank you guys for the compliments.

Jes Goodwin didn't - but others have made less than pretty eldar models. The 3rd ed scorpions (the fellow clutching his ankle being the prime suspect) are pretty lame though.

I kinda miss the old metal guardians; sure they were a bit naff, but they had a lot of charm too

That's them, alright. I think they farmed it out to someone else because the Jes was too freaking busy.

I completely agree with the scorpion comment. The 3rd edition scorpions were REALLY lame. I do like the 2nd edition scorpions as well as the current versions. I do have to admit that the current models look very similar to "Predators" though. But that is okay because I am a big fan of the Predator series. I have actually drawn up a "Predator" scenario for my Necromunda games using a new Scorpion model.

Not sure about the reason for not getting Jes to do them, but the 3rd ed Scorpions were Juan Diaz's work, under Gary Morley's tutelage. Luckily, once he got to sculpting solo, Diaz very quickly lost the Morley influence.

As for the models as hand, nice job. I love the darker red for Fire Dragons, and the white weapons are a great contrast.

The one Eldar that has always had a special place for me is RT Era Guardian with Shiuriken Catapult with underslung chain bayonet on the bottom. Looked crazy but for an Eldar Pirate was great.
